This complicated mess of a show is perfection! We are simply not talking enough about Off's acting in this series.…
I feel like Pheem is upset because Jira is a person he really wants but keeps saying no. Finding out that Koh is Jira's boss made it worse, made it into a competition. Ever since then it's been like he doesn't want Koh to "win" but what's making him angry is his insecurity. Pheem's afraid that he'll fail and Koh will win yet again.

Who did Pheem take his anger out on in this episode? Jira. He ignored calls and avoided him. In his eyes, punishing Jira by refusing to allow him to get any resolution. When Jira tracks him down he smashes things (I think trying to scare Jira) and yells at him. But imo, Koh is the one who deserved that rage. So why didn't he go confront Koh? Because Koh makes him feel inferior. That's why Jira is drawing him with stark black lines, and sharp edges.

yh they already know. They talked about it in one of the reaction videos. Jira's scenes with Koh were shot first…
Okay, thanks, I usually don't watch any bts or other content until after a series has ended so I haven't seen that. Does that mean that Gun's hair has been short only in scenes with Off this whole time and I just noticed now? Guess I'm really not very observant, lol.

This is random, but watch Gun's hair in this episode. It goes from longer to shorter, then in the previews for the next episode it's longer again. I know shows aren't shot in order, but I usually don't notice. Is it just me, or did anyone else notice the hair length change dramatically?

I am so glad you pointed that how Pheem literally have a one night stand when he couldn't get Jira. People love…
Right? This isn't a BL with a clear good guy or bad guy. People rooting for Pheem are also getting tricked by his pretty face. I mean, they clearly say it. They think Dew is hotter than Off. I don't think they're paying attention to the plot.

Title Burnout Syndrome Spoiler
Both Pheem and Koh are red flags. It seems like people forgot the whole first part of the episode where we see Pheem's toxic nature. He tries to put up a facade to trick Jira. Pretending to like the same things, even getting a tattoo to win Jira over(!?). But when he fails to sleep with Jira he goes and finds someone else on the same night. Not exactly saint material. That's why it was so great for Jira to see through it, saying that Pheem hasn't shown him his "ugly" side yet.

Koh... He's fighting dirty, I'm not defending him. He was so cruel to Jira. Honestly, I'm sort of happy that the writers let Koh stay evil for a while. I didn't want him to suddenly be a totally different character, if that makes sense? Watching him looking for those flowers all day I was like "what, now he's a sweet heart?" and I was lowkey disappointed. It's not realistic for him to randomly become nice. And wow, he really didn't. Good.

Right now I don't even care about the romance aspect, it's more like a power struggle. Jira really is in over his head I think.

I agree, I thought it was totally over the top the way she reacted to the dating rumors. No grown up fan should…
She didn't have to go as far as saying she doesn't listen to music at all, lol. She could have said "I'm a fan of Gold Boys" and it wouldn't have been weird at all. I mean, in this drama they're a very popular group. I feel like she panicked and made the lies way worse than they needed to be. I get it, but also she's an experienced lawyer who should do well under pressure. But it's just a show, and I can let it slide.

I saw him discovering her secret a mile away. it also comes at no shock that he is upset. I do think the scene…
I agree, I thought it was totally over the top the way she reacted to the dating rumors. No grown up fan should be that upset that a celebrity is just living their life. But it was just that scene that bothered me, I feel like she's seeing him as a regular person now.
I'll be honest, if I was the ML and I found all that merch hidden in the attic, I'd have dragged it out too! Get it all in the open. The FL made a mistake to lie like she did, and now she can't avoid it anymore.

What's up with the ex? She broke up with the ML in an incredibly cruel and harsh way and now is like "we never broke up!" And is trying to replace his lawyer with someone she chooses? He better not go back to the ex during a low point now that he's feeling betrayed by the FL.

I'm increasingly wondering if some people even watched the drama properly up to this episode. ML is literally…
Literally! I saw your comment first and had to scroll to find people saying like "she's a fan, so what?" What do they mean, so what?? She just spent time with him lying saying she doesn't listen to music and that she has no hobbies, and now he finds an attic full of merchandise with his face on it?
Now he realizes that she lied and is at least a super fan, or possibly a saesang. He'll probably think back on all those times that she knew little details about him, or that she had his brand food, etc. He won't be able to trust anything, knowing how much she hid from him.
I feel like the show laid it all out very clearly, it's bizarre how some people are genuinely not understanding.

What the fuck is wrong with this series? Or should I say wtf is wrong with Fan Xiao? That guy has NO redeeming…
I very strongly disagree with anyone saying that Xiao redeems himself or that you'll want Shulang to take him back. Still, I'd encourage you to keep watching. Not because Xiao deserves Shulang, but because maybe he doesn't need to.

I'll never understand being upset that an idol/celebrity is dating. The show tried to make viewers feel sympathetic to the FL, while she was all sad in bed, but it just doesn't work for me. Idols are people. They date. I know, I know. "Different culture" and whatever. Moving on.
It's interesting, when she watched the ML from afar, she felt connected with him, but seeing him up close she realizes that they live in two very different worlds. I hope they're not setting up an unrequited love story with the 2ML. I like this show so far, but don't do that, I'll drop it. I have no patience for that particular trope right now.

I know they're going to make us wait, but I really want her to reveal that she met the ML back in school. I also want to know more about what happened with her dad. So yeah, good show but the FL crying in bed for DAYS over dating rumors made me roll my eyes so hard.

The English title "Idol I" doesn't make any sense.아이돌아이 is:- Revised Romanization: aidolai-…
English titles are often nonsensical. They also could have used "I, Idol" and it would have made more sense. Then it would be like saying that he's only an idol, not a unique individual. And it would be in keeping with the episodes we've seen, people reduce him to a thing to control. His mother, his fans, his company, etc.

Lowkey I wish we could have two separate comments sections, one for those who have read the novel and one for those of us who haven't. Yes, I know it's my own fault for coming in here, feel free to tell me I'm being dumb, I know it. I can't seem to help it though.
Anyway, I liked episode 14, specifically when Shulang and Xiao had some long talks. I'm not very good at putting it into words, but it felt like they were finally understanding each other properly. Shulang wasn't getting fooled anymore, and Xiao seemed like he really will distance himself from Shulang, for his safety. Because even though Xiao is a crazy-pants, and highkey evil at times, he really loves Shulang. In his own way.

So yeah. It was good to see Xiao at a low point. Maybe I'm the evil one, but I was happy to see him suffering. Now I'll be okay when they get back together, I think. Not happy like fairytale ending, but at least satisfied.

He hasn't lost all of his money. Some of it, yes, but not all of it. His status is as good as gone, though, but…
Okay, I saw people saying the he's broke now, or that Shulang will have to support him, etc. I thought that didn't seem right, thanks for confirming it. As for the "chance" encounters, I guess Xiao has been plotting for so long that I'm extra suspicious, lol.

They will tell that in EP 14.
I think we're talking about two different things. I'm saying that episode 13 didn't clearly explain what happened with Xiao. You responded by talking about something that apparently will happen in episode 14, which of course I haven't seen yet.
But I can see from your other comments that you and I won't agree in general, so I'll end it here.

It's clear that you're someone who has read the novel, so you are seeing this from a different perspective. I don't know what will happen in the rest of the show, I'm just a regular viewer who is seeing the episodes as they come out. My opinion is based on what has been presented in the show so far.

If there's one thing that I feel like the show didn't convey properly, it's that Xiao has apparently lost all his money. Before people come at me and say that it's obvious, they didn't show him in prison at all, right? There was like one news clip and the next thing we know he's on a beach, still controlling Shulang's life. I honestly thought him showing up as a low level employee (in the pharmacy and restaurant) was him cosplaying as poor. Faking it to arrange "chance" encounters. I thought that even though his family business is gone, he probably had lots of money stashed in secret. He still has his errand boy hanging around Shulang, like nothing changed.

But the comments here are saying that he's lost his power base and money entirely. I still like the show, I'm just saying that this part wasn't really made clear and it made me assume that Xiao still had his status like previously. Especially since we've seen 12 episodes of him in complete control, always ten steps ahead. I had no reason to believe this was any different.

Eh.. he doesn’t need your forgiveness tbh.. you are part of the society and society doesn’t fuck with people…
So true. It won't be sunshine and kittens. The people who read the novel are superimposing it onto the show. Or possibly just misunderstanding the concept at its basic level.
Somewhat related, I've noticed in other cdramas, it seems common to forgive a person without that person really doing anything to earn forgiveness. I'm used to characters being more stubborn, nobody gets a free pass. Forgiveness isn't something that comes easily in shows I usually watch, or in my real life for that matter. Anyway, I only mention it because it's not just this show where there's a lack of the catharsis that I prefer.

No, you're right. All the stuff Xiao is doing is just... Fixing problems he caused himself, and controlling Shulang while lurking in the shadows. It's not a true redemption arc, not in the classic sense.

But, I'm still okay with it. Why? Because it doesn't make sense for Xiao to become "good." He won't truly let Shulang go, he's still a broken person not capable of real selflessness. He'll never be normal. What we saw in this episode is literally the only way he knows to fix what he did. He's still hanging around, but finally it's to do good things for Shulang, not bad. For him, even this level of backing off is a huge step. It's the best he can do.

So I understand if you don't forgive Xiao, I wouldn't either. The thing is, I feel like the show did a good job at making me understand why *Shulang* will end up forgiving him.
