FL talks too much and in that incredibly annoying childish slowtalk voice... I wish she wouldn't talk so much…
i disagree. this is my first time watching her and I’m absolutely in love with her portrayal. whether it’s her badass side as Muqingge or her bubbly, girlish side as ranran she’s just so good.
i think I should wait until more episodes are released cuz waiting for two episodes each day is pure torture. also, there must be a gap after the first week's premiere or are we gonna get episodes daily?
I really find the first 2 episodes flimsy and rushed. The story and action is giving 10-minute-drama. Will continue…
most xianxia dramas start this way (fast paced), often opening with something intriguing or glimpses of the past to set up the major event that drives the story, so some viewers might find it quite confusing at first. though i didn’t find the pacing that fast, tbh. I’m also watching Kill My Sins right now and compared to that, the pacing here feels just right. since these two dramas are from different genre so it makes sense. Deng Wei had a breakthrough in 2023 with Lost You Forever. As for Xiang Hanzhi, she’s a rising star on the way up and this is likely her first lead role in a major budget costume drama.
the first two episodes were mediocre but from episode 3 onward, wow, it's sooooo good. finished watching the first 6 eps, and i really hope it keeps up this momentum and quality in the upcoming episodes too. since this is Yin Tao’s project, I've quite faith in him that it’ll be great until the end. I was initially skeptical about Xiang Hanzhi when the casting was announced but i'm glad she proved me wrong; she’s very impressive and her chemistry with DW is just amazing!
Some viewers seem unhappy here with how the plot is written and executed but I’m enjoying this drama so far. when it comes to modern romance c-dramas, I always keep my expectations low, and TWOLT is no exception. like any show, this one has its flaws, but I appreciate that it touches on important themes like war, its impact on people and psychological trauma. It would have been really great if the production team had delved deeper into these elements rather than just skimming the surface and given us more intense battlefield scenes and actions which are very brief in the show.
So, yes, this might not be the best series, but it’s still enjoyable to watch. the chemistry between the leads isn’t as strong as what we had in Hidden Love, but it’s good enough to keep me engaged. also, if someone is watching this drama with the hope of it having a similar vibe to Hidden Love because it's a Chen Zheyuan drama, then this might not be the best pick for them.
