The way I see Yuer and Hewen is that they might be choosing based more on a “let’s see what happens as we are attracted to each other (Physical)” kind of mindset rather than prioritizing compatibility, security and stability. Maybe it's because they were younger and had only just entered society so they were more drawn to something exciting and attractive rather than a stable, emotionally strong, long-term relationship. Actually, I can see why Yue'er sticks with Hewen. People with abandonment issues can feel lonely even when they’re friendly, outgoing and have many friends, so when he was the first person to actively approach her at dinner she naturally held onto that connection.
If Xilun had simply said he remembered he or said ‘I chose the red space because we’ve already met’ when they moved from blue to red she might have viewed him differently. That's why she kept asking on their first date if he really remembered her. She genuinely thought she hadn't made enough of an impression for him to remember. It was only during the du hai tao episode, when he revealed that he said white at dinner because she was wearing white when they first met, that she finally got some affirmation that he remembered and actually like her. That opened up the possibility of seeing him differently which became obvious on their next date. Until then she only saw him as a friend.
And honestly, this is pretty common in real life. We have the viewers ‘God angle/view,’ but they don't. Both Hewen and Yue'er seem to need clear repeated moves from their partners because small signals don't register as strong enough. Even after one strong signal a misunderstanding make them get cold feet again leaving them emotionally insecure and unsure. That's something they both need to work on. Real life doesn't have PDs arranging opportunities and making everything easier. You have work family, friends, responsibilities and countless other things to balance.
Xilun, man you are truly extraordinary. I have watched more than hundred dating shows. I have rooted for many couples and seeing them find their happy endings always felt beautiful. Yet never once did I felt the need to know someone beyond the screen. Not for actors, actresses nor idols.

Zhou Youling is clearly displaying the privileged, toxic mentality typical of wealthy, entitled men, and he is slowly showing his true colors. According to Weibo leaks they are endgame but realistically, guys with this kind of mindset can't last more than a year with a strong woman who demands equality.
