Really thrilling -- the plot, the fighting and the love story. Not so thrilling, a real lack of interesting characterization at the actual physical level for the three male antagonists.
It is my feeling that the 'forest of men' is a style, currently, in cdrama. I dont like it and it makes a drama like this just miss being unforgettable.
Any actor worth their salt can come up with a schtick for their character, good lord, even a mole, an odd hand gesture, an affectation, a favorite hair ribbon, it isnt hard. So in my opinion the lack of differentiation between Deng Yi, Xiao Xun and Xie YanFang is the result of forces that do not interest me but are consistent across this nouveau-wuxia genre.
When finally actors and directors get their balance again there will be some real gems produced.
This was really wonderful to watch. Spicy, crazy, wild and wonderful.
Agree with you - it is frustrating. I have pointed this out a number of times. Some people just want smut and…
It depends what you mean by POV -- in a novel thats protagonist/ narrator, but in a show, isnt that whose viewpoint do we identify with? I personally feel that I am looking AT the FL with the love and puzzlement that belongs to Prince Ding. That makes him the POV, while she is the protagonist.
YeLi is always disappearing around a corner.
In the novel isnt Mo Li more important? The title character, after all.
I feel sorry for Han Ming Xi. I hope he only sees her as his idol and doesn’t have any romantic feelings for…
I think its one of those ambiguous teacher/student but of mixed gender situations; he wanted to repay her for whatever those previous situations were, then he saw her fight and now he wants to be like her....
Ep24 even though this may not be the most carefully antiquarian cdrama I have seen in a while, surely if the ministry of rites cannot predict an eclipse they should all be executed? Even if we are in yet another fantasy-ancient-china .
Ep23 after Yao confronts her about her secretiveness. When he tells her face-to-face in bed that he will never leave her, suddenly we realize that YeLi and Yao never exchanged vows at a proper ceremony. This promise is like a real marriage vow. I wondered why in the comments people thought this was their first night together. I am not sure about that, though.
The story of Li Fei Bai and the dancer (Lady Yu Sheng?) is abruptly introduced. Did I miss a scene somewhere?
I really didnt expect that! Good thing I didnt read spoilers lately. Otherwise the surprise would be lost.

Now Han Ming Xi is mixed up with them.
negative cliff-hanger!
waving my arms and shrieking!
No lie! A Jiu came back!
