I've watched 10 episodes so far and I'm not really a fan of Lee Ji Hoon's acting in this one. He's so subdued…
He emits a deep sadness. I think that eps 11 and 12 will feel explosive because he has sustained that emotional tension for so long, or else they will be wistful and really sad. Either way I am happily waiting.
ep30. Lovely wrapup. Lovely comeuppance. True words and false words. Zhuang Shi Yang had the most amazing capacity to seem plausible even when lying through his teeth, didnt he! The family gathering including those passed on -- isnt that what happens during the holidays in the imagination? This last family grouping seems to me to be more according to height and costume coloring. The only notable placement to me is little Ling Zhi dressed in orange with Zhou Ru Yin and Yu Shuan, and, on the other side, Yu Chi stands next to Yun Xi. Forgiveness indeed. Not sure I could have done that myself.
Nice article -- altho second couples will be less frequent at shorter length dramas, sigh. New niches? I would add to yr list one older example -- The Rational Life 2nd couple were beyond sweet -- and one new pair in My Dear Nemesis, tidily squeezed into a 12 ep. show , but powerful enough to be memorable.
( just finished Ep20-21, US east coast) The father Shi Yang and the concubine Ru Yin: the characters keep revealing even greater depths of cruelty, self-deception and narcissistic self-regard. The characters and the actor's characterizations (Yu En Tai and Wang Yan) are magnificent. Not sure but I think my hope for true love between ZHY and FYX is being used to drag me deeper into the maelstrom. How I wanted a real marriage night and how destroyed it was! Incredible! And now I am thrilled by the dark couple...
lull in other series, romedy ones. as everyone else says its great to have something thrilling and cool instead of hot all the time. sadness is what lee je hoon is bringing to the table here.
a really great series. Nothing else like it. perfection on the technical side and great actors all throughout. Over and over again I am blown away. Loved the japan episode. hope/bets the ratings go up now that there a lull in romance.

On a BJT walkabout after first frost. I really really really didnt like this. It drove me nuts. I stubbornly watched it to the end, and it is an interesting show, but no joy or heart to it.
I smiled every time I watched. Choi Hyun Wook is finally making his mark as a hot romantic lead with great cheekbones (not namby-pamby-western visuals).
That is a very interesting soundtrack. Odd that it doesnt make one feel uneasy or anxious but rather quietly cautiously interested in events. The entering and ending theme song is absolute fire -- gets better and better each time.
