Is songjoongki a extra here ? if he is ,this is not for me.
He's a supporting lead but please, lord, trust me, him and yoo ah in steal the show. They have a lot of scenes and are a big part of the show.

This drama has made me tear up so often without being super over the top. Every deep moment feels really earned, there is so much humanity in this drama.

It's insanely refreshing to see a drama where you feel like the writer has carefully planned out every interaction, scene, and storyline. The episodes build on each other, with the stakes raising higher and higher in an exciting way, characters motivations are SO clear, characters grow in real ways, none of the characters are perfect. Even the fluffy fun scenes serve some subplot in some way, no time is wasted. Every episode has surprised me, every episode ends with some sort of new revelation or twist that adds to the tension. THIS is how to write a drama.

I also feel like the director does a really amazing job with action scenes esp, doing really cool long takes and framing everything so you can really see what's going on.

I can't believe I didn't catch this when it aired, I've still got 6 episodes left too! So excited to finish this out.

This was one of the best historical I've seen up until halfway through. The writer makes a decision that takes away the most interesting character of the show and leaves us with just the ML who is the ultimate Gary Stu, he is super pure and good to the most boring way imaginable. He always chooses the righteous thing, it's so unbelievable and flat. All the built-in tension brought by that other character for the first eight episodes evaporates, and the writer has the annoying habit of introducing some big problem or issue only to solve it in the next scene, so again, we are left with little tension or interest. The love story is bland as well. Watch until episode 8 and pretend that is the end of the drama, and this will be one of the best shows you've ever seen.

Title The Crowned Clown Spoiler
The first few episodes were great; I was very excited about the drama, and I loved the storyline. As time passed,…
It's because the Clown and the King were foils for each other. Once they killed the King there wasn't enough tension in the story, and the Clown's story arc meandered and lost its depth. They should have kept the king in the story and shown him becoming more like the clown and vice versa.

I realized I haven't seen him in a while and see that he hasn't been in a drama in years! But if he needed a break, good for him. He's good enough that he can return when he wants, I feel like he probably still has lots of scripts coming his way that he is turning down. I'd love to see him in another historical soon, no one plays a king quite like him tbh. Maybe more of a tyrant type, he does sooo well in darker roles. And I still have the dream of him and reuniting with Yoojung in a drama as leads! Moon Embracing the Sun was the first drama I ever saw and so Jin Goo was the first ML I ever saw and he really made an impression on me then, he has a really special place in my heart. Hope he rests well and comes back with another amazing performance soon

Girl. You need to go touch some grass. You're obsessing over some dude who has no idea who you are and never will, and whatever he did or didn't do is clearly not a great guy. Go live your life for yourself, you deserve that way more than whatever para-social weirdness this is.

They should remake this with Yoojung and Jingoo now. They're both better actors than the original leads anyway.…
I have never seen any other drama where I was actually disappointed when the child backstory was over. I was like man these guys have big shoes to fill and sadly they did not remotely fill them.

I know Suzy can act and has put in some good performances, but there is a subtle art to making a psychopath character engaging vs flat, and she unfortunately does not have that particular art. Please watch SYJ in It's Ok to Not Be Okay if you want to see how it's done. Ultimately the writing is the true villain of this drama--you cannot have two callous, compassionless MCs and expect anyone to root for them. There has to be some humanity and some contrast between them to create that deep tension that pulls you into a drama and a story. They're both not great people but in the most boring way imaginable, I didn't care about either of them for sooo long, and by the time we learned about their backstories it just felt kinda thrown together and tacked on and rang so false. Huge flop in the writing department. Not even woo bin can save this drama, he put everything he could into it but the writing was just godawful. I want those 13 hours back.

It ended exactly as I predicted in episode 1!!Fun, intriguing story...the cooking scenes are beautiful, of course.…
WAIT. Terrible -directing-?? bruh , he is one of the best in the biz, look at his past dramas. He is a great director, and chae min wouldn't have done as well under a terrible director, this director specifically worked with chae min and brought out the absolute best in him (no shade on chae min, he worked super hard and clearly has the talent), but like that's just a crazy take. The writing was sometimes shit tho, agreed.

I agree that the last 2 eps also made me like the show again when it had started to seem kinda bleh. I'm happy with it overall, glad I watched

yeah! I would love to see this in season 2, in modern world hihi (he jealous of her)
I actually think a season 2 could work really well? Like show him struggling hilariously in the future and then they get tranpsorted back again or something. Cause like WTF happened to gong gil, I need to see the rest of his story.

Am I missing something…she started with noting that she shouldn’t change history, but she ofc did by putting…
She tried to tell him she was from the future and he kept acting like she was insane, and at that point he was bein an ass and threatening to execute her and she was cooking to survive so she kinda just gave up even trying to warn him, and I don't blame her

It was actually so refreshing to see him play a chill good guy, I've only ever seen him as the evil guy

A very lame version of Mr Queen.
Mr Queen was just a lame version of Tree With Deep Roots following your logic

This was really good and I am glad so many others agree BUT I feel like my girl YoonA is not getting the credit…
I have never seen her before and was shocked people complain about her, I thought she was perfect start to finish.

This is what I wanted too, like coulnd't he come a little earlier and some hilarious "man from the 1500s" shenanigans happen as she's trying to get that Michelin star? We coulda taken out like one long slow mo shot of another person getting stabbed and fit it in.

Can we just appreciate how much Chaemin has improved? 😭 His acting was amazing he totally deserves an award!
I was super duper impressed with him esp that long scene where the truth about his mother was revealed, like the way he reacted to all of that was just so subtle and well done I was like wow, this man can act. There was one moment where just his eye twitched but I could feel it in my bones
