And yet this is his most lauded role for which he won the Baeksang for Best Actor.
My hot take is that without Yeo Jin Goo's stellar performance as the young version, he would not have been so appreciated for the drama. He did a good job, but YJG did so much work to set up the conflict and depth of the character and backstory, and KSH merely had to not mess it up after that.
You can tho, based on previous works. The screenwriter is a really great scene and character writer, really clever, but does struggle with the overall story arcs. The director is very solid tho, often that will be a better predictor because good directors are able to be picky about what scrips they work on. Based off that this has more than likely chance of being a quality drama AND a big hit too. So I'm hopeful!
I'm glad they're spending the money to make it look realistic and interesting for the setting, nothing is worse than cheesy sci fi effects in a show that's trying to be legit.
Also happy they've paid for top talent, I'm more excited about this pairing than I'd expect, I like LMH fine on the whole, think what he lacks as far as acting he makes up for with charisma, but GHJ is just hands down one of the best actresses in Korea right now and LMH tends to act up or down to the level of his leading lady. And something about this pair just screams sexy and mature. Plus a great screenwriter and director combo. I think this is gonna be a huge hit. I'm really excited for it.
I feel like this show must be really great considering it still has an 8.6 despite being bandwagon hate-rated by a bunch of people giving it bad reviews just cause it's not a complete scene for scene remake of the OG. So they just all convinced me to watch this lol.
It's really hard to take a review seriously when you write it when the show is halfway done and your criticisms are mainly comparing to another show. For someone like me who has not seen the original and has no interest in the original, it doesn't give me a very accurate view of THIS show and if it's worth it.
I think Choi Hyunwook may be next big thing, most of the people mentioned here are talented and popular, but CHW's…
I agree. I thought Goo Yoo Hwan did a good job but CHW def stole the show in twinkling watermelon. And esp when you consider his role before that in Weak Hero in which he also made a huge impression as a rookie playing almost as opposite of a character as possible, idk how he's not on this list.
I just finished episode 3 and idk if I can go on cause I find the FL super annoying, she follows him around nonstop and babbles on and on saying the most meaningless dumb stuff when he clearly just wants to be left alone, I don't find her charming at all I find her obsessiveness really off-putting and not romantic at all, she's essentially stalking him. And at this point I feel no chemistry between them, and if he starts liking her even though she's acting so overbearing and superficial I won't be able to buy it. Is this show just not for me or does it get better?
Ladies and gentlemen.....this was Woo Do Hwan NOT exercising.....
I read a article before the show came out where he said he stopped working out to look like someone who was dying for the show, and so while watching the show I kept waiting for this "non-exercising" WDH to materialize and thought I must have read wrong LOL
I of course don't know so this is just an educated guess, but as he didn't mention not smoking here in the interview,…
I wouldn't call it an educated guess. They have fake cigarettes, and he is an actor playing a character who smokes a lot. He will do research on how to make it look natural. He literally just said he takes very good care of his body and relaxes through exercise, why would he smoke? He has a naturally low voice. There is zero basis even for a guess. Like, it's just odd to say he's a smoker because he played a character that smokes
I curse Disney and Moving. We now have a spate of super powered characters assaulting us left and right for the…
I actually love that they're branching out into superhero genre , it's so rare to have sci fi / fantasy k dramas at all, now we have like 3 lol, which is like .01% of all k dramas. This is way more refreshing than yet another cutesy romcom or dark crime drama or uplifting medical drama.
