Some people asking is cheating justified in this drama? Bro No , nothing Justified cheating no matter the situation…
It probably seems nice to think you have everything "figured out" and to imagine that people are so easy to judge and what they do is so easy to judge as bad and wrong, but the more you allow yourself to live life in an authentic way (including parts of yourself you reject or don't allow expression or think are bad and wrong) and allow others to do the same, the more alive you will feel and the more love you will have to give the world. This show is a beautiful exploration of this topic, with no "good" or "bad" characters, just quite realistic people in situations that test who they are and what they believe in, and they make choices that are both freeing and destructive, cruel and loving, and their motivations or the outcome won't ever be as clean and easy as you wish the world was, as the world is not black and white. I hope you can realize that one day and come back and enjoy this beautiful work of art with a more mature emotional understanding.
Almost every single character in this drama is morally corrupt.
Art is alluring on one hand, yet makes you very uncomfortable on the other, because it forces you to examine the unreconcilable contradictions of the truth about life and people (yes, including yourself, even if you're not willing to go there yet). Whereas entertainment makes you feel good and safe. There's nothing wrong with the latter, it has its place, but don't confuse the two. This is art.
Really nice list overall, but I gotta disagree about Just Between Lovers, I think people will be mislead thinking there is "no breakup" I will put more details in a spoiler comment. It's one of my absolute fav dramas, totally worth a watch, but people may get frustrated watching it if they see it on this list and go in expecting that.

There is SO much withholding of love for both, they bounce back and forth for the entire drama, esp the second half, with one of them closing out the other, and giving love only to completely pull back and put up a huge and painful wall to block the other out, and abandon each other at different times. One of them literally blindsides the other by leaving the city out of the blue, only to come back and finally give his heart, then to have the FL suddenly cut him off, abandon him, and tell him to get out of her life. I -do- think it's realistic portrayal of love between two traumatized people, but they break up and make up SO many times.
I have such a good feeling about this drama. WDH is absolutely in his element, he can carry both comedy AND emotional dramas, the rest of the actors are also top tier, the writer delivered one of the best dramas of 2020, it's on Netflix so will have a lot of potential viewers. I really think this one will be a big hit. Even if people don't tune in right away it'll start to get a buzz and will end up being big. I'm excited
This ended up being a really moving drama for me, I was really touched by all the relationships between the characters and appreciated that they were all allowed to have weaknesses and sometimes be contradictory, as all humans are. I feel every character really grew as a person and that growth felt realistic to me. I especially loved having a FL who was flawed but also mature overall. She had her issues but at the end of the day she took full responsibility for her choices and her own life, which is so rare for FLs.
My only issue is that I didn't feel Ji-uk got his moment to really shine at the end of his arc, it was nicely set up with her pointing out that he'd spent his life caring for others, and not wanting him to just fall into another care-taking situation. I would have rather spent the second half of the episode following him and watching him maybe learn to be more selfish and express his needs with his family or something, and then have them reunite after that. It felt cheap to have him pop back 6 months later and suddenly he's ready, even though I couldn't tell that he had really changed other than living on his own for a bit.
So something that has really bothered me is that the whole point of a forced marriage trope is that strangers/friends are forced to live together and act like a married couple, and you end up getting lots of scenes and interactions and awkwardness between them that slowly builds to them being an actual couple. But the writer has been resisting all that, and even now 8 episodes in he's finally in the house with her but still lives on the rooftop almost like they're in separate apartments. Despite them almost getting found out numerous times now.
We could have had the same exact romantic story essentially if he was just a part-timer who rented out her roof and happened to start working at her company, like they'd have had all the same interactions essentially. So what was the point of having the fake marriage trope if it's not really forced them to have more contact than they would have if he'd just started as an employee?
woojae is such a loser ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ hate his behavior
I realized this ep how great that actor is, he is so ridiculous but also so funny. I dislike his character so much and yet he's really killing the role.
The writing is definitely a little wonky (I'm really not sure what message I'm meant to be getting from the second…
I totally agree on the main couple -- They went from being clear the marriage was fake, to suddenly he's telling her mom he's fallen in love with her, to suddenly they're going to date at some point later? It's just been weird and doesn't seem to be building correctly. I'm feeling very un-invested because I feel like HY isn't even really interested in him that much and would just date him cause he's hot and likes her.
As much as I like HY overall as a strong character, she's being so weirdly practical about their relationship it's taking all the romantic steam out of the drama. I think the leads have great chemistry but we've only gotten a very few handful of scenes where we actually get to see it, and when we do HY ends up pulling back and making things go so flat and cold instantly. And so they don't actually get to build off those moments. They're practically at the same point they were at the beginning. When they were talking about dating eventually it was just so unemotional for her, like she was discussing a business project with a colleague. It was so un-sexy and un-romantic.
I wanna see that even if she's trying to force herself to be practical, she's got all this passion and desire and longing broiling under the surface at every step. Seeing that is ESSENTIAL for a successful romcom. But we only see that coming from Ji Uk at this point and I'm just becoming very uninterested in their relationship because of it.
I thought he was just a sassy software twink, I cannot believe Ha-jun took over hate comment duties and left some…
I totally disagree, I think this actually makes way more sense. From the start they showed Gyu-hun as being immature and socially awkward but actually quite soft-hearted, even Ja-yeon was surprised by how kind he was when he ran into her and caused her to drop her phone, and from then on he's been genuinely apologetic and guilt-stricken, even before developing feelings for her. And it always seemed a bit off to me that he was SO cruel.
Ha-jun is a nice guy but has shown that he has a cold/harsh side when it comes to his boss and job, and that he is willing to do anything to get out of that position. Ha-jun isn't a bad guy, either, he just had zero emotional connection to the comments so could just turn off his empathy and write whatever would do the job the best so he could get transferred.
She's already falling for GH, so it's not like she'll suddenly do a 180 on him, and her and HJ seemed very platonic despite her former crush on him, like they've had many moments to move things romantic and it seemed like that wasn't happening, so it's not like she was in love with HJ and now hates him because of the comments.
I did not expect him to show up at her work as an employee, I really hope with all the careful setup of the plot it's not just gonna be another predictable chaebol / office romance type thing. I miss sweet mullet boy part timer :(
omg🤣🤣they r really going for the illegitimate son plot ... i really hoped they wouldnt fall for this clichei…
Yeah I'm so tired of secret chaebol MLs, HY really needed someone more breezy and light in her life to balance out her own ambition and toughness. Tho I wanna hope the writer is going to add in some twists to make it refreshing or interesting
How is she selfish? She broke up with her bf without knowing he cheated only because she don't want to burden…
AND her boyfriend specifically said the thing about her mother so that she would break up with him thinking she was a burden. So he is the actually calculating, selfish bastard.
both leads are adorable but just to be completely honest, he deserves better.absolutely no hate towards fml, i…
ML also purposely hid the candy she specifically said she used to help her quit smoking, so maybe he doesn't actually care that much? And she is trying to quit, too.
They are soooo much more alike than they realize, and them both denying it while falling in love is gonna be great. Don't stop watching for something so superficial!
So do men.So, Kdramas should start showing their ML's having sex as well & not show them as shy little pure virgins…
First of all, the FL in this drama is shown DISCUSSING having sex with men that are not the ML, not having it with those men. BIG difference. So here is a list of dramas that have the ML also discussing having sex with women that are not the FL:
- Weightlifting fairy KBJ - Neverthless - Oh my venus - Sh**ting stars - Fight for my way - Search WWW
Literally off the top of my head in like 30 seconds I came up w all those.
