That's the thing he could've easily done both if he paid the agency to search for Sunni he can still go rescue Dorothy. The only reason I can think of is bc it was "dirty" money so he couldn't use it?

Oh the agency. Ya 24 hrs she said and he still paid right? Or did he take it back? So they be searching on their own and they'll find her deceased body after the fact

If she was alive (somehow) until that moment then yes it is disappointing to just give up on her, when they didn't for Dorothy. But if it was only the body he was searching for then I'm thinking it must've meant he was only needing closure - which he got that moment so he was able to let go then.

Actually I didn't get that part. I thought he was only searching for her body, he was shown checking deceased bodies at the start. Even if it was 2092 everyone wears a suit when they go out of their ships, so no way she was alive floating around. But that ending scene seemed like her passing and they just declared it then too. So was she alive the whole time??

I second that. Plus the guy's dialogue with ML after - it may look like a sad ending but his time with her taught him to grow, AND she may not be in his future but without her he wouldn't be as mature in the future. ♡

Right? And later learning that secretary and roommate started their own loveline there? Haha!
