I quite agree with above Korean drama example, but not so much with J-drama since I found many J-drama are breaking stereotype that it become normal watching J-drama with "unique" plot story. Korean drama of course, still holding on stereotype both plot and characters, except for Korean movies that I found have much more originality.
If I may add, old J-Jdrama like Nobuta wo Produce can be considered as breaking stereotype of current teen J-drama that mostly a lazy adaptation from overused manga plot (I don't know why j-drama for teens has degraded so much these days). And for K-drama, there is this not so popular yet it's basically the first (probably the last korean drama) that brought a close look on everyday story of normal people, The World Within. The World Within was highly unpopular with bad rating eventhough it has star cast like Hyun Bin and Song He Kyo. I don't believe the rating represented the quality of story, but more like South Korean preferences on Makjaeng or Rich man-Poor woman story that dominated K-drama even to these days.
Because This Is My First life, that basically unofficial remake/ripped of from Nigeru Wa Haji Da Ga Yaku Ni Tatsu, also worth watching as drama with not so typical characters in korean drama.
As a side note, I found more and more J-drama are very open on sexual theme these days. I just watched this Kakafukaka drama that eventhough I laugh through out the series, I can't help scratching my head that they would bring story like this into TV. And don't let me start with Kuzu no Honkai (like wth ??!!). well, it's Japan for you , still the most interesting culture the world ever have.

there is a bunch of movies korean and some from other countries who looks like "My Mister" so i could no see what…
really ? care to give example? actually, I found the platonic love story being told like My Mister told it, is very rarely. I refused to watch My Mister in the beginning (glad, I watched it in the end) cause I though it would be like typical relationship story between older man and young girl that I thought will be icky(even I never finish Goblin). Normally this kind of story either told in mature sexual way (like most korean movie, lolita, lost in translation) or comedy romantic (Goblin, basically all jdrama with "Sensei" as main character), but not quite like My Mister. Beside, most of platonic relationship movie that I watched were use the "love story" as side story. But My Mister still using it as a focus of the story. the way My Mister explores human feeling and their loneliness, create some sort of romantic feeling on its own without so much blatant "I love you" moment between the two main leads. and, no , I haven't found it in many movie or drama before it that I stand that My Mister is purely original.

i honestly dont know what kept me watching... but i'm kinda happy i finished the drama i guess? the show had so…
I don't think it's about whether ML change or not change. He just who he is since the beginning. at first it bugged me of how he reacted to their "relationship". but in the end, just as heroine feels, nothing wrong with this guy. instead of showing his feeling like the FL or everyone expecting him to be, he shows his feeling using his own way. it may feel inadequate for everyone, but seeing from his point of view, it's like a big step. people may expect more from his action towards the girl, but it will contradict with his own character.

I enjoyed the drama. Like the honesty of each characters, especially female lead. although, I wanted to see her growth more in career instead just focusing on her love story. Understand that viewers may feel lack of character development for other cast, especially male lead. But the drama itself is not try to change the other 3 characters. The drama based on female lead point of view and how she sees herself by her own judgement/expectation of others. In the end she realized that everyone is unique and have their way of thinking, doesn't mean they have to behave as her expectations. Every characters has their own flaws, yet each of them are truth to themselves. So I think it made her realize that by seeing from others point of view, she can understand them more and herself better. Her final action not only driven by her own perception, but also from her understanding of others personality.

Found this on netflix, then straight to IMDB user review. The review almost 99% bad, like really bad. Yet, still proceeded to watch it since not much thing to do at home.
This is definitely not movie for everyone but somehow i still can enjoyed the show (I gave 8 out of 10).
I mostly laugh at cringe dialogues (that's probably intentional after seeing the whole movie) between the characters, and confused with editing and cinematography. However, even though on the surface the story seems all over the place, the content of the dialogues are kinda good with hidden messages. Like in this very short scene between Tachibana classmates. At first it seems like random discussion between friends, but it was actually a deep conversation of how young girls learn to use their bodies to value themselves (sad but true), and how men can easily just take advantage of it.
The movie also has these face pace dialogues, that not so very common dialogues between normal people but more like some sort of poem of human feelings. The face pace dialogues at the end between the two main roles are probably the best one.

You may annoyed at girl character at the beginning, but she really grow at the end of the movie that she can said stuff like "I can be happy with you, I can be happy without you" and "I can't be yours, since my face, my body, is mine alone" to the guy she likes. Comparing to heroine stereotype, her character definitely like a new breath in Japan drama. Her final choice may not everyone favors, and his character might be alarming at the beginning, but somehow he's the only boy around her that make her value herself more at the end. I personally glad that she chose the boy. his personality might be not the best, but he said things like, "don't say big things just because you are cute. can you say that when you're an old hag? I am the only one who'll still want you even when you're a shitty old hag!". Lol, so much contradictory on that sentences, but let's be honest here, he's nailed it.

My suggestion is try not to watch this as a movie, but more like a play. where every dialogue, acting, or scenes are exaggerated. Pay attention to the dialogues. Don't compare to manga. Many manga readers don't approve the movie cause it has different atmosphere with the manga. I went check the manga after watching the movie. Boy, no wonder why the director needs to change the movie plot. The manga is so lame, the characters not grow at all, and typical Shoujo manga with weak heroine. Movie characters are 10x better. But like I said, the movie definitely may not for everyone. Enjoy.

All this time I'm hoping they make a korean remake but nothing! I mean they keep making adaptations and remakes…
It's amazing how Japanese version is so bad considering the source material is from japanase manga. I kinda enjoy the taiwanese version and I think it's one of the adaptation that still truth to the book, along with ISWAK and Meteor Garden. Both Vic Zhu and Barbie Hsu nailed the characters and the chemistry between those two was amusing (maybe because they did have relationship outside the show). Anyway, I also wait someone to pick up this gems.the story a little bit dark and if it's not told in right way, it's probably will bored viewers. If they remake it in korea, it would be nice for sure.

On The World That They Live In Dec 31, 2019
This is only for mature audience. The characters are so complex that most of viewer can't even understand the plot between their relationship. This is not kdrama, this is more like indie drama. The rating low because what people expected for kdrama is not here. But I myself found this so damn good, that I rewatched this the second I finished the last episode.

If you call Cha Eun Woo's acting "good acting", then everyone here can be an actor. Please, be objective, you…
I think he's okay. Not an experience actor, but again he's only been in two works, so what do you expect. "Crazy fan" can be annoying, but, objectively, he's doing okay in this drama. I won't say he can't act at all.

Person IU
Just come here after saw her concert. I like her music, and would like to hear it live. My expectations was just like any other concert, sometimes the singer get pitchy, false or else, it is okay since it can be so hard to sing straight for 3 hours. But I was so amaze that with iu,it was literally like hearing her recording instead. I was like, damn, it felt like I didn't watch a concert. It more like I sat there, put my headphones, listening to her song in Spotify, while watching her in front of me. I was like thinking hard, tried find something, like "is she lip sync?". But nope, nothing. It's like hearing the auto tone version. Really, money well spent and what a satisfying concert. I chuckle thinking, maybe I won't seeing her other concert if she keep singing like this, what's the different with hearing her in Spotify ?.lol.

Title Persona Spoiler
Love set is borderline creepy. But seems not many people perceives it the way I see it.
The first tennis scene between the father and the women -- they're having sex , the moan is very clear and intentional. The second between the daughter (hopefully no related) with the father, urghh, I don't really want to say this, she's kinda have a forbidden relationship with him. After the match, he said "Don't make that sound like when you play with other" referring some kind of hint of possession. The match between the women and the daughter, is simply the match cause the sound is different now. No moaning from both. The women cares about the daughter, in motherhood way. That's why her hopes is for her to ends "the things with her dad". That's why she slightly stroke her finger on her, while saying she's not going to marry her dad, but she still need to keep her promise to stop whatever she was doing with her dad. I know this may not be popular interpretation, but I can't see it another way.

I drop this. I prefer the original members. They have more character to the show. And I don't really like the…
The day shouhei and kaori gone, that was my cue. Peppe is okay though I would prefer Japanese man replacing kenny, emika basically just sexy (it's normal every one drawn to her). I hate when commentators said something about Kaori using the show for her arts. Like, come one. She and shouhei story probably the most realistic one here. And just because the show fail to capture their moment, like what the hell we just knew shouhei step back because he was hearing the rumor she was engaged, or she thought he had a girlfriend, in freaking episode 16??? Kaori was genuinely like shouhei, but their story going nowhere because their timing is always off. Then shouhei left. What should Kaori do then ? Girl crush over new Italian boy? I don't think she's the type who just fall easily, that's why she left. What else could do? Your potential man already left anyway. And I don't think how they portrayed shouhei did justice to him. Shouhei character is actually interesting, because he's crack that Japanese stereotype. He chose family over career maybe a little bit unusual, but it is actually quite manly. Being career oriented at some point is actually not really a good achievement. Now the show filled with just cute guy, and cute girl, who's seek nothing but how to date cute guy/girl, but that's all. The show becomes more like reality show made by mtv and lack of Japan vibe. And episode Bros before hoes was a joke. Pepper, you're not Bros with them, you just know them.

I kinda enjoy first episode 1 though. But then I came here, and I guess I'll drop it for good. Cringey story I can handle, second male lead unfortunate plot I can handle, the one I can not damsel in distress character that wasted the time. And if any male lead has some point ever fall for this character, it talks more about their quality as well. And I don't think I want to see any female lead ends with that kind of male lead.

Wow,you had to post all these just because you don't like it?I guess not, your intention is to stop people from…
I actually like to read this kind of comment. I mean, this is the discussion section after all, right? It's only fair if both party, pro and cont, taking apart in discussion so it will give objectivity to the potential viewer. To be fair, k-drama fans sometimes, not all, are more less objective and praise the drama over the top regardless the story suck or not. I think above comment is kinda objective. This drama, and the lead, already known has subpar acting before. So it's not really shocking read the netizen comment. And I agree, critic to acting is very crucial for the actor. Awful truth but more effective to make them growth.

Title Tune in for Love Spoiler
Agreed!I also can't understand why she broke up with him ... after one fight?? One fight and that's reason enough…
Viewer seems to be forced to understand the reason why they fight. I mean, I get what the writer want to say. Hyun woo's past might too much too handle for mi Soo as he never clearly talked about it and open up himself to her, but always ends up with him tried to run away and sort of give up. Buuuut, being said that, the way the story was build, is not believeable. I mean like, how many days passed since they were together? I feel like it just less than two weeks. And it's not like they have many histories in the past. You can't build so much emotion and believe that only happen in a week. I don't know, I guess mi Soo is to insecure and not much reliable. She seems like she would stay for a good time, but ready to jump out whenever it starts to get hard. That's not really what you're looking for in a partner actually ????. That is why I said cold play-fix you really not fit to the story. Hyun woo practically heals himself. And hey, if you want to make overused and unrealistic running-after- car scene forgiven, you've gotta to make it right at least. I was second away to hit my tv when mi Soo just kept going even though she knew he's chasing her, and just decided to stop after like what, ten blocks? Only to said, don't run, you will get hurt when he's trying to say he loved her?? Why was she so much hurt by him?? Why he deserves so much sweat and possible stomach cramps from running ?? She's kind of jerk actually. To this day, Tao Ming tse in MG is the only running scene I approved (well, it's already 15 episodes and the girl still didn't back down, what else man should do ????).
