I love this guy. Absolutely fell for him in Forever Love, and once again in The Heiress. About to go watch all his dramas now, just to see what characters he can pull off. Such a cutie.
I can’t tell you how sad it made me to have to let them go when I first finished watching this. I loved them…
I understand completely! I write books and that's how I feel when I finish the story... the world is just like.. POOF gone. The characters can't move on from that moment, or at least we can't see them moving on and its sad as fck when you love them. Letting go is so hard even with fictional characters lol
As per everyone's recommendation, I watched until episode 21 and stopped. I feel content enough to let this one go at this point after having read the spoilers. Honestly I'm not even tempted to keep watching. So thanks to everyone for telling watchers to stop there. :)
Okay but the interactions between ML & FL were sooo cute and pretty dang healthy (treating your partner with equality is a beautiful thing). Low budget but I honestly didn't care because I was too enthralled by the love story. The acting was pretty convincing as well. I find Chinese dramas are normally very fluffy, but I really didn't mind it in this as it balanced the heavier topics with the sweetness. Normally I'm used to 4-5 episodes driving me crazy from frustration, but I don't think I was ever frustrated past one episode during the entire series.
I do see your point, but I didn't see it that way. The way I saw it was he wanted the CP to know his feelings…
I will say, I get a bad taste in my mouth when dramas do the whole 'FL firmly says no and ML takes it upon himself to tell her what she really means'. So I do get where you're coming from. Like the lady said no; it doesn't matter what the reasons are its a firm no.
I do see your point, but I didn't see it that way. The way I saw it was he wanted the CP to know his feelings…
I just feel like the CP takes a very... day to day kind of approach with everything lol. Like, slay the demon today and worry about the devil tomorrow sorta idea. (so, get married today, worry about the rest tomorrow lol).

I would agree if it was any other historical drama, but this one they are very lenient on the 'eyes are everywhere' idea. But I'd absolutely 110% agree if the show was more realistic to that time. In the case of this show, however, it's very light in a way. I mean if it was real, the CP would have been discovered immediately due to all the customs alone. Like... the palace has a whole dang house and land that's unattended and unguarded--that alone is indication that in that world, a secret relationship would be doable. Risky as hell, but how many times has the CP slipped out of guards watch? She even disrobed during a royal hunt haha. As for the marriage, I'm guessing the logic there is she could just get married and refuse to sleep with the wife. Once again, logic for this world seems to be different than other more 'accurate' historical dramas. Maybe the writers themselves didn't feel the need to have answers since the plot is obviously avoiding that route lol.
But I agree, her getting her title revoked is perfect for her to live her own life. But yes, grandpa is definitely going to take that away from her too. :(
Creating rape scenes for a certain demographic (like gay men) imo is absolutely messed up if you yourself are not a gay man.
I'm going to assume that the woman that wrote the book had no clue how gay relationships worked and completely disregarded reality. If this is what she assumed a BL relationship is like, it's safe to say she was absolutely uneducated and following gross stereotypes and deserves those labels. It's a shame, a lot of BL dramas follow the same trope (like men have to be drunk and unconsenting in order to recognize their feelings??).
this... this drama... besides all the obviously offensive and over the top crap, wtf is up with those long pauses every five seconds? What were they going for with that? A 'i forgot my line let me just--OH' feeling? because that's the feeling they're giving. I just finished ep 1 and I just don't know if I can do this.
I'm over here about to start it from the beginning so the wait doesn't feel so long. Seriously one of the best drama'a i've seen in a longgg while. If you're wondering whether you should watch it or not, you absolutely should.
Now that I'm up to date, I want to say I'm not feeling the romance as much as I did the first 8 episodes. I just…
I do see your point, but I didn't see it that way. The way I saw it was he wanted the CP to know his feelings and wanted to know if he was crazy or not for having them (like, 'is there something between us or am I insane' lol) but I don't think he had expectations--he just wanted to be with him/her in whatever way he could (like sitting on the deck of that hidden house together). I really think he just wasn't sure if it was mutual or not and he was trying to understand his own feelings at the same time.
I think he left because he still felt uncertain about whether the feelings were mutual. He came back because he finally decided to trust what he felt--trust that it wasn't one sided and trust that the CP was unhappy unless with him. So he's all like, 'i'm not leaving your side regardless of what you say--because I know you're lying for my sake and you feel the same way'. He's not asking to marry her or even for her not to marry anyone else or anything, I think it's just about being there together.
And finally: She's been so concerned with just surviving until they met again. It's a very: living over survival sort of show imo. Like, what's the point to anything if you aren't really living? It's a mutual thing: she's been trying to save him, but he's basically saying 'screw that, I don't want to be saved if I'm not with you'. So choosing love over death seems to be where its heading. I'm hoping for a happy ending, but who knows.
Anyways, that's my thoughts on it. I might have rose coloured glasses on, but a rose tint on everything is pretty nice so I'll keep them on hahah
The ML in the Japanese (i think) movie adaptation was sooo cute. I feel I'm going to be so disappointed in this because it doesn't have the same actor lmao.
CNC = consensual non-consent. It's when you and your partner give the okay to role-play certain scenes that look like SA. A lot of the time people with this kink have had passed traumas with SA and its how they learned to cope with it. The brain is a weird place; turns fear into excitement to protect us sometimes.
A Hana Kimi version I haven't watched?! what? Am I the only one obsessed with this plot? I hope they make more remakes and versions with their own unique something in the plot <3
Dear god, every single man in this drama has me smiling. They are SO cute. The dimples on 2nd ML *dies just imagining his smile*. And the sheer freaking innocent and adorable reactions from the ML (anyone else replay the moment he put his hand on his head because he's caught the feels?). My heart is not okay. Not to mention, all the times the guys jumped in to protect FL. I can't. Even the bodyguard got me smiling when he's protecting her.
Idk what you're into, but watching the entire drama (no matter the outcome of the plot) is worth it just to see those things. lol!
Give it a shot if you're hesitant.
