Oh no. Why romanticize grooming and adults messing with minors? I know each country has it's own legal rules, but it can be boiled down to science: a teen's brain is not developed enough to fully understand and thereby accurately consent to it. Meaning, they can be as mature and smart as they want while young (and their adult partner as immature and dumb), but their brain is literally not formed like their partners yet. IMO, there should be no significantly large age gaps until after that 20 something mark when your brain is done cooking lol.
Also, if an adult is into teenagers, they are the kind of person that no one their age actually likes (they understand how horrible they really are, thanks to the extra brain development). We shouldn't romanticize teens getting stuck with said rejects.
that dang song is gonna be an instant tear trigger now. good lord i think i shed tears every episode. (forewarning, a lot of tears were due to frustration).
I thought I was the only one entranced with the villain and his story. He was (in a weird way I cant explain) almost likeable. I felt conflicted over feeling any pity for him--I had to keep reminding myself what a ruthless killer he was lol (and that plot twist seriously stopped my heart, good lord). Seriously well done on his part.
The last episode bombed tho, unfortunately. I get the sentiment, but I think a better ending would have kept up the same pace of the two--maybe also let the audience (and each other) in on if they ever actually slept with (or at least kissed!) one another during those early days lol. I wouldn't have minded a cheesy throw back story.
Okay, I HAVE to recc one last drama: Wish You (the Korean movie version) was the first BL movie I watched and it made me so emotional. I might have a bias with it, but I watched it about 4 times now and I just love sm about it (the soundtrack is amazing too). Ok, now I'm for real done haha. Let me know if you end up watching anything! (I'm gonna add you as a friend, hopefully thats ok with you!)
I watched my name engraved herein and cried sooo hard. Amazing movie! The acting was superb. I'll be sure to check the rest out, thank you!
Side note: if you like non-bl dramas, I recommend watching Forever Love. It's the most healthiest relationship I have ever seen in a drama. It's adorable and wholesome and just an absolute joy. Just in case you wanna try out a good one instead, I highly recommend it. :)
Well, ig I separate reality from tv normally. If we all went around doing things that people in dramas do, we'd all be in jail or worse lol. No one can control how people react to it unfortunately. But that's why I said some people may feel like it's promoting sketchy things. (I put a warning for those who would be troubled/triggered by it, and for anyone who really wanted to watch it after all the hype it received (like I did) I gave them the suggestion to view it as cnc instead so they aren't triggered.) Thankfully, I think the stuff most people like about the drama are the consensual scenes (for ex: the scene I mentioned is consensual).
Let's end the discussion on an agreement tho: I think we both hope that future and present dramas are full of explicit consent since that's clearly what we both have been promoting in our replies. And I hope you find a better drama that suits you. I've watched a couple of BL dramas, but so far the ones I've heard about always seemed to have some issues with consent. I think the best I watched so far was Together With Me. If you have a better one, I'd love to know about it. It's the falling in love against all odds that gets me, not the gay p*rn despite what you may think of me haha :p
I enjoyed it, but imo FL was more convincingly 'in love' than the ML. Still a great story, but i just wasn't as convinced by his love for her. Overall story is about a 9, but I rated it a 7 due to that.
If a twin acted like their twin, does that make the other twin dispensable just because their sibling pretended…
Yes!! I was like DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT TO INNOCENT LIL BABY ROBOT. And at the very end when human Nam Shin showed up at the beach first, I was so worried they would end up together in some like twisted... 'it was all a detour to get with each other' plot that sometimes happens in dramas . When robot nah shim showed up I was sooo happy.
I'd rather choose to watch a made up show that's acting out fake scenes as cnc instead of non-con stuff--i just majorly prefer the idea that there is consent between them. I wouldn't be able to enjoy it if I went with the idea one of them was truly not into it.
It's not real or based off something real, so thankfully we can all decide how to see it without risking harm to the actors/characters. :)

I also have the theory, that because the actors had such good chemistry together, it made it harder to distinguish her chemistry with the characters! I was so scared she'd end up with the human one because they just had so many sparksssss.
If a twin acted like their twin, does that make the other twin dispensable just because their sibling pretended…
fair enough, I just felt her pain hahaha at least her boys are 20, mine are 5 and running opposite ways into opposite dangers. Thinking fast about names is quite the pain in the butt lmao!
CNC isn't r*pe, which is how I chose to look at it. But it's understandable to feel it promotes some sketchy stuff, which is why I put the warning for anyone with triggers, etc.
Wasn't 100% sold on the romance. Kang Joon and Seung Yeon's chemistry was amazing, don't get me wrong, but I wish…
If a twin acted like their twin, does that make the other twin dispensable just because their sibling pretended to be them? I have twin nephews whom I'm around all the time, and boy... sometimes their characteristics and mannerisms can be so similar to one another I have to take a whole @ss minute or two to figure it out before I start calling them by their names lol. Basically, at the end of the day, what makes them the most different is their personalities. So if human Nam Shin wasn't a huge brat, he wouldn't be human Nam Shin--he'd be closer to robot Nam Shin whom So Bong fell for.
This made my heart so happy. So darn wholesome and cute! It was incredible how well the acting was by the ML, you could tell within seconds which one he was.
This is the most wholesome, healthy, honest, and beautiful relationship in a drama i have ever seen. Wow, i'm in awe. They are absolute relationship goals. And nothing was super infuriating or over the top in the drama--what an amazing series this was! Every one should watch it!
four words for ya about the last ep: it was fcking hot~
But, forewarning, there's a lot of questionable scenes. It's written like the writer has a consensual-non-consent kink. I guess just imagine it as so instead of imagining a truly non-con scene. I absolutely recommend the series if you do that.
I must be a masochist because here I am starting another itazura no kiss. The MLs always break my heart after they finish high school. So cold. I hope this one is better.
Kiss Me, Thailand version, killed me. The high school part of the plot was so so SO lovely but I bawled like a baby for the FL until practically the very end lmao. I just feel like the MLs character eventually changed too dramatically during the time they spent apart vs their close relationship in high school.
Playful Kiss, Korean version, was my first version and I remember vividly being in hell while watching their story lol! I've blocked out the details however, clearly too painful of an experience lmao! Never again (probably).
The movie, Fall In Love at First Kiss, was really cute IMO because it moved so fast throughout the heartbreaking parts and moved right on to the lovely parts. And the note that the FL wrote was beyond adorable. So freaking cute. (and the ML is so hot!)
Ugh. I can't believe I'm doing this to myself again. *grabs a box of tissues*
