it's not bad without comparing

after i finished s1 years ago, i was always so put off by s2 because of the countless bad reviews, but it's actually pretty good without comparisons. just give it a few eps to warm up. i may even end up liking this season more than the first.

it's honestly pretty damn good if you don't compare it to season 1. some eps are hilarious and the characters are quite likable. just a great drama to turn your brain off to.

i feel like the people who don't get the hype don't understand how refreshing it is to have such a healthy main couple with fairly minimal eye-roll worthy subplots (except maybe jiang ying smh). but the true standouts are lusi and zheyuan who have great chemistry and such a natural way of acting. everything feels real. i especially love sangyan and sangzhi's chemistry. their sibling energy is incredible. there are far too many c-romcoms ONLY set in high school or with crazy parents or where they met by chance once 10 years ago. it's nice to get a fairly realistic and natural fluffy healthy romance with adorable chemistry and adorable moments.

you don't have to like it to at least understand the hype of why everybody else does.

i don't really see how this show is a mess? it's chaotic because of the cast, but the scenarios weren't bad at all, at least to me. some were quite creative actually and they gave a good variety. i feel like people are forgetting that this is a korean variety show and NOT reality survival show. it's obviously gonna be scripted for the safety of the celebrities and the zombie actors. can you imagine if they thought they were real zombies and attacked them with weapons or something??? it's meant to be funny and there really are some great moments. not everyone has to be super useful and leaderish either because that's not realistic. it almost seems like all the viewers were taking this show WAY too seriously. busted is a scripted variety show too, guys 😭 yet it blew up in popularity.

honestly, it's fun to watch with friends or family though. it makes it pretty intense and funny.

yeah it has incredibly outdated misogynistic humor which i didn't enjoy, but in mamoru's case, they liked boys but wasn't gay. they felt like a woman all throughout their life so it's not like they were just dressing up as a girl. they actually felt like a woman and wanted to outwardly express themselves.

though i'm a jdrama fan, i was initially put off by the blatant misogyny and over-the-top quirky japanese humor with screaming arguments and sped up sequences. it was a bit jarring, as i didn't expect it when starting. but it quickly evolves into a profound and sentimental take on guilt, remorse, and apologizing. the story itself was a fantastic depiction of tormenting guilt and you could truly feel that every time it was brought up. best of all, i think they were able to capture that feeling and make it easily relatable to everyone.

nearly all the characters are lovable despite their flaws (and they have a lot). at the end, it truly felt like they all became family. nishikido ryo was a scene stealer in this and heisuke was a standout lead. i was in love with the teacher-student aspect. i was constantly "aww"ing and tearing up between eps 6-10. the ending was great too. overall, it's just a satisfying watch if you can look past the outdated humor. i haven't felt this overall satisfied watching a drama in a good while. what a pleasant surprise.

i think they're saying they didn't want to watch sood because they wanted to watch it for the first time with hyoseop and so they wouldn't keep comparing it to the original

i love him as an actor. he has so much passion and sincerity in his roles, but shame about all the controversies he's been in over the years.

they usually don't add shows that don't speak japanese though, even if they're based on a show with japanese origins. i've asked them before and they've rejected. otherwise cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell (despite having like 1 asian actor) would also be on here.

i watched this with my friend and we both adored it. the characters are so charming, esp so yong herself. honestly though, i didn't get and couldn't follow majority of the political plot at all lmao. like every time i caught up, three new things would appear and i'd fall behind again. either way though, still loved it.

if i watch it i'll try my best to not compare it (though it may be hard with it being one of my faves)

excited but very hesitant. not sure if i'll want to watch this or not. not sure if i should watch it while airing or wait. i guess we'll just have to see as the time comes.

i personally think she's quite good and very versatile. she can handle funny roles and incredibly serious ones so i'm not too worried about her portrayal of HYX/CYR besides her pulling off a high schooler. honestly though, i'm a little more worried for hyoseop. i love him as an actor, but he just doesn't give me li zi wei at all. and if anything, i'm mostly worried about the writing and the changes they may make to "kdramaify" it lol

i also love how the one represented death, but dome and khatha represented adam and eve. within the show, they show how adam was "given" eve because he was lonely and the devil tempted them with the apple, despite that being the only thing they weren't allowed to do. similarly with how khatha was lonely before chan/dome and he greedily chose to keep him to himself despite knowing the consequences (even moreso at the end when he goes to find dome in the other universe). it's an interesting religious connection they made that isn't even that evident until the end.
