what's the difference? bl features gay relationships between men. it's the g part of lgb. the audience may be…
tldr: bl romanticizes, lgbtq+/queer represents, neither are "bad" they're just different
bl is a subgenre originally created specifically targeted towards women. historically, it targeted straight women by sexualizing two men together in a relationship. this movie is queer in that it has heavy lgbtq+ representation, but there is no gay romantic or sexual relationship. just a deep bond between a gay man and straight man.
bl can be distinguished from queer works based on the mood it sets. bl is often extremely romanticized. for example, 3 gay couples within the same friend group, everybody is loving and understanding of gay people, or a homophobic lead will suddenly "turn gay." (toxic) terms like "top/bottom" or "husband/wife," are also often associated with bl. i'd also say you most likely won't be fanboying/girling over a lgbtq+/queer work.
queer works are often more realistic and representative of real life experiences without romanticization. this doesn't mean it's always sad though (for example, this movie). it just means representation without romanticization. bl is NOT inherently harmful with its romanticizations, just as kdramas aren't with their romanticizations (though some tropes are VERYYY toxic like the casual SA). sometimes it's nice to watch a cute gay romance. i watch bls and i like some bls. i mean my pfp is literally gun atthaphan lol.
gay men watching bl isn't based on the genre or target demographic, it's based on personal preference. just as not every straight girl will want to watch romance, straight or gay.
this movie is so insanely good. i knew i was going to love it, but i didn't expect to feel THAT close to the main duo. at first i was only gonna rate it about a 7, but it kept building up more and more as the movie progressed and now it's an easy 9. i would've liked a little more to the epilogue showing how minghan's life changed, but it is seriously such an incredible movie all around. story, acting, cinematography, characters, character development, humor. all seriously great. definitely worth the watch. but don't watch it if you're only watching for the lgbtq+ tag
my man is about to get famous, someday or oneday version is already superior ;)
he's already INCREDIBLY famous throughout asia, especially in taiwan and the face of many brands like fendi. if you mean worldwide though then yes he'll get even more well-known if he continues releasing hits like marry my dead body.
it's honestly pretty damn good if you don't compare it to season 1. some eps are hilarious and the characters…
after i finished s1 years ago, i was always so put off by s2 because of the countless bad reviews, but it's actually pretty good without comparisons. just give it a few eps to warm up. i may even end up liking this season more than the first.
it's honestly pretty damn good if you don't compare it to season 1. some eps are hilarious and the characters are quite likable. just a great drama to turn your brain off to.
i feel like the people who don't get the hype don't understand how refreshing it is to have such a healthy main couple with fairly minimal eye-roll worthy subplots (except maybe jiang ying smh). but the true standouts are lusi and zheyuan who have great chemistry and such a natural way of acting. everything feels real. i especially love sangyan and sangzhi's chemistry. their sibling energy is incredible. there are far too many c-romcoms ONLY set in high school or with crazy parents or where they met by chance once 10 years ago. it's nice to get a fairly realistic and natural fluffy healthy romance with adorable chemistry and adorable moments.
you don't have to like it to at least understand the hype of why everybody else does.
i don't really see how this show is a mess? it's chaotic because of the cast, but the scenarios weren't bad at all, at least to me. some were quite creative actually and they gave a good variety. i feel like people are forgetting that this is a korean variety show and NOT reality survival show. it's obviously gonna be scripted for the safety of the celebrities and the zombie actors. can you imagine if they thought they were real zombies and attacked them with weapons or something??? it's meant to be funny and there really are some great moments. not everyone has to be super useful and leaderish either because that's not realistic. it almost seems like all the viewers were taking this show WAY too seriously. busted is a scripted variety show too, guys 😠yet it blew up in popularity.
honestly, it's fun to watch with friends or family though. it makes it pretty intense and funny.
