My conclusion: MDL audience is not ready for this type of drama. Evident by people can not except non romance and non happy ending. Sm of the criticism valid, some using microscope to zoom into every imperfection. What's important is it is a BIG success in China and topping charts on international platform.

🍉LYX’s contract with ZSTC will end July 26. ZSTC lacks the team to support an actor of his caliber. Whether he goes independent or joins a stronger agency, I wish him success. LYX deserves mainstream, big IP dramas, but this is far beyond ZSTC capability. LYX has not had big IP projects, smaller IP became famous because of him, with producers approaching him directly.
His manager does not have qualification to manager any low tier actor let alone LYX status.

LYX will be busy with WoF concert until January and music festival, still have an album to be released and promoted. Promotion for his modern drama in Q1 '26. So I actually hope instead he can take a rest and wait till his contract ends before filming another drama. As he did in 2022, he waited till his sub contract with Lanfeng expired before filmed LCR.

I agree about the screenwriter. This particular producer never hired well-established screenwriter, director and a strong editing team—something they definitely can afford. But the positive aspect outweigh the neg here.

Most MDL viewers expect romance with tons of kisses & MUST HAVE HE. MDL dislike Male centric drama. Reviewed complaints about not showing every martial arts backstory are unrealistic—big ensemble dramas like MLC, Immortal A, or Blood of Youth didn’t either, unless you want 70 episodes. Many zoom in to criticize CGI on some part while overall it is already 3-4x better than other drama. Some viewers are confused with the plot, but the for me the plot is clear enough. Of course they are areas that could be improved (cutting some character, smoother editing, showed the celestial realm missing plot, etc). My conclusion, many MDL audiences just aren’t ready for this kind of drama.

Meanwhile, SLY’s success in China is undeniable. High review ratings on Baidu and Weibo (far more reviewer than Douban).

No investor would commit to hosting 3 citywide celebration concerts with 10,000 seats each, plus overseas events, unless SLY exceeded their expectation (their job is to make $ not to lose $)

From my interpretation, after hearing LYX’s explanation, the white fox eventually transforms into a dragon, saves the world from another calamity, and later reunites with the other characters. They appear wearing fox fur—except for those who had finished filming earlier. This detail isn’t in the script, but comes from LYX’s own idea in his last day filming.

I agree some characters didn’t deserve their ending. But if time is turned back, it means they never committed the crime or not yet.
