In the novel she is a courtesan. Being abused all her life. Traded around as s*x slave by powerful pp, then abducted by ML sects brother. Finally she set free and TLC protects her and her baby. This character needs a good overhaul story which I think they will. So drama character I don’t know.

Yes same author. Same circling around ML and his best sect brother. However MLC original novel SYX character is not his sect brother, in SLY novel he is sect brother since childhood. This one thing MLC took fr SLY novel and adopted into their drama. They also took a number of other things (i don’t remember all) fr Sly novel and other teng ping novel mixed into MLC. Hence the controversy of MLC drama plagiarism among other novels by the same author. Def those who bought the novel IP that is being copied is pretty upset.

I actually see a lot of similarities between MLC drama and SLY novel. Both focus on ML, both has 2 “guardians” funny same actor too. While in MLc there is a romance back story, TLC has none. TLC character should be smarter than MLC ML in his grand plans. The big difference between the two is MLC ML is nice guy (he was arrogant bfr) but TLC is completely ruthless and arrogant fr beginning to end. He loves his sects brother dearly. Yes I read the novel. Drama will change a lot from the novel, the novel is Wuxia, according to Datawen interviews wt. producer today, Otter studio attempted a whole new genre, a blend between Xianxia, Wuxia and Conspiracy. This is unfinished novel; story stops in the middle of big battle. Author recently started to add new chapter after abandoning novel for 10+ yrs., the script is done months ago, so I don’t know how similar it will be. While it seems like drama retains TLC journey fighting the massive poisoning of the marital world, his background and identity is upgraded by infusing two ancient folklore stories from Chinese ancient text. This what makes SLY v exciting, they want a grander views and SLY being a vessel in delivering various cultural element of Chinese relic and costumes from Yin to Ming Dynasty, represented by the various secs in the drama. They also want to infuse Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism in the drama. In short it is a very ambitious attempt.
I still can't guess the direction of TLC costume intention at this point, we only see 3 costumes. I certainly want to see his other" dresses to the nine killing spree" costumes before I understand the creator intention. I haven't seen him using his red ribbon as weapons so far like in the novel.
