I’m not sure if anyone has already discussed this but I’m a sucker for the scene when YS and JJ were standing…
Hahaha! I love the scene when they were kissing on the desk in YS's office when Qiao Na barges in, and JJ awkwardly rolls down from the desk (her whole body's on the desk). That's so funny!
hey, my undetstanding from ep 3, LX had already regarded JJ as his life partner since very young... And he's already…
I agree with you. If one were to look at the episodes carefully and digest all the hints, one will come to the conclusion that LX's and JJ's relationship are not brother/sister but young lovers. So there's nothing incestuous about the relationship at all. For me, it's so sweet and pure :D
I'm enjoying this drama a lot because no matter how bad things go, the protagonists always gain a upper hand; they always beat the antagonists. This is comfortable to watch: good trumps evil.
I liked the cast and the characters but the story could have been much more than it was. Dont get me wrong, I…
Apparently they re-wrote everything from the novel, rendering a lot of plot holes and character change in the process. There are many parts I like and many I don't like in this drama.
I finished Poisoned Love, Love in Time, First Romance and Sparkle Love while waiting for the refresh of this show.…
42 episodes in, I can say there's no hope for the ML ending with the FL. By now, many viewers also feel they rather not have such an ending (ML with FL). Some even want a quick death for the ML :|
Another hand raised for Love is Sweet. Also Love in Time, Oh My Sweet Liar (almost dropped this but it’s growing…
Yeah, they need to look 'light' so that their hair and garments are flying and floating. Imagine someone who is like an elephant trying to hop on the roof, he may make a hole. XD XD XD. Ok, before I get bashed, let's come back to the subject. I think Chinese people are less sensitive to calling someone fat, or whatever. They even use such terms to label the person or give the person nicknames. People are so used to it that not many people take offense. But not so in the western world. This topic is so sensitive that it's a taboo to utter any hints of it.

For Promise of Chang'an, if you're waiting for a HEA for the ML and FL, I can safely tell you, there's not going to be one. Cheng Yi's role in this drama is even more painful than Sifeng, so go figure how Promise of Chang'an is :(

You're absolutely right on every point on Promise of Chang'an. It's the saddest of the sad for Cheng Yi's character. The sadness of helplessness and hopelessness is so great that if you're easily depressed or have high blood pressure, you're not advised to watch.
As for the FL, indeed she looks more mature than the ML, but she looks very appropriate for her role for the later part of the series.

Hahaha! Paper thin generals! I like your use of terms. I was almost bashed so hard for saying so as viewers said I was body shaming (which I wasn't but people take it differently and seriously). Anyway, yeah, most top actors are so thin that I'm worried for their health. Many of them don't eat at all.
Can someone tell me if I should watch this before the second season airs since it's been delayed for 2 years?…
With or without the cliff hanger, it is still a wonderful story to start. Every episode is by itself a story because it's packed full of details and hints. I wouldn't want to wait for season 2 because we would never know if it's still on schedule. There could be a change of cast and there's a lot of uncertainties. I wouldn't want to miss this wonderful drama just to wait for season 2 :)
I'm so confused as to why Joy of Life wasn't nominated for more awards. Like, they got a bunch of nominations…
Yes, it is sad how recipients of awards are chosen, the criteria are normally pretty unclear and biased. It even happens in Hollywood, let alone in China. And for the Chinese market, social media plays a huge role - how much a drama is being talked about determines its success. A good drama like this may not catch the eyes of most fervent social media users hence not as widely spoken as other subpar dramas. Therefore, we can see the selection of the actors may determine how much the largest group of social media users talk about and hence the dramas' success.
I did not like the ML at all. When you create an arrogant character, there is a slim possibility that the audience…
Contrary to you, I love the arrogant and bombastic ML because I find him so funny, and that also has made him so lovable. Bearing in mind that the story is from his point of view and he's writing about himself. If I were the author, I believe I would make myself as arrogant and bombastic as I could because I know I can get away with things XD
This drama may be not for all. Honestly i only watch this because of Zhu Yi Long, and i respect his decission…
"This drama may be not for all. ...." - So true.
This is a drama about life. No light-headed cute romance. No comedies. Everything is as how we live life ourselves - struggles, tears, broken hearts, failures, divorces, the craving for success, unemployment, capitalist greed, shady business dealings, office politics, work pressure, extra-marital affairs etc. It's very down to earth and for a very mature audience.
Li Zhiting's Xue Rong is so adorable, really enjoy watching his type of emperor - devoted and jealous (but cannot be publicly), trying to use his own ability to win the woman instead of using his power.
- Fu Jin Zhan and Jiang Shao split
- Sweet Li Huai Jin turns dark
As for the FL, indeed she looks more mature than the ML, but she looks very appropriate for her role for the later part of the series.
