Yes, it is very true that historically, the bad guys tend to triumph and are rewarded whereas the good ones die in oblivion. No wonder we have what we see in today's world. It's very disheartening. Let's hope dramas in generally change that message and give us hope.

That was a tumultuous time in Chinese history. Parricides, filicides and fratricides were rampant. Hard to imagine our beloved hero here, Peng Cheng Wang, eventually dies of a stupid excuse from his own trusted and loved brother. But at the same time, it is also satisfying that the Emperor was himself eventually assassinated by his own son. This is karma.

Yes, I agree with you on the evil-doers, especially Shen Leqing. The logic is so flaw. How could she scheme to kill her own family who has showered her with love and kindness, for the sake of getting her man back. Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'll just have to watch it assuming there're really such low level people who would do anything to achieve their goals albeit their goals are seemingly worthless to us.

It's funny how our chemistry works. Even though everyone thinks she's a boy, unconsciously they're all attracted to her. Perhaps men usually have that 'protective' instinct so when they see a weakling like Wen Bin, small and skinny, their protective instinct kicks in.

At Episode 42, just her big brother and father have been killed (very gruesome). Her mom is having a mental breakdown so not cohesive. I dread when or if she comes round to it, she'd be able to accept the fact of their demise, and if she'd kill herself. This is yet to see.

Agree! This is too easy a death for the Shens in the hands of 2 not-that-smart characters. But then, they are not the main players. There's still this powerful mysterious man pulling the strings of the puppets - Shen Leqing, Lu Wan, Xie Hao, Xue Qiu etc. I'm only worried when the mysterious character is finally revealed, he's nothing but a psycho little old man that wants their deaths for no other reason than for the fun of it. That would have been such a killjoy.

Yep! That's why they have the rooftop scene to tell us that it's going to be a thing of the past. Good if the writers have had them feigned their deaths and disappeared for months (or even years), only to reappear after Li Ge avenges for them. But I guess only with the real deaths that would push Li Ge to her final resolution and the climax of the drama.

Don't worry about it. I find her responsible for the death of her husband and son too. I feel very frustrated with her because for me, a mother should recognize her own child no matter what, except perhaps when she goes coocoo as in this case. I don't know if eventually she would find out she had caused the death of her loved ones, and what her reactions would be. I dread to think what would happen to her then, because she gets mental illness for fear of losing Li Ge again in the first place. Now because of her, she loses two more. Poor Li Ge. I hope she doesn't lose anymore family.

Hmmm! You're lucky that none in your family has mental illness. If one can snap out of mental illness with a click of the fingers, then there's no need for strinks and medications. Mental illness is a real medical issue and many people suffer from it every year. It's not something one should take lightly.

So, unlike most other Chinese dramas with rushed endings by killing off most of the characters, this one decides the reverse. Though some characters have died, they're resurrected. Guess, living is far better than dead.
