Just started this drama. Only at episode 2. Trying to press myself to continue watching. Bad dubbing, mouth movement way off. Still can't connect with the leads yet.
The only thing I noticed cheesy, in this one, is the sick makeup...and even that didn't even make me cringe because…
Good points. Love your lists. Now I know where to look for dramas I want to watch next. From your lists, I know you're a happy person. Stay that way. I actually stumbled across GMP without checking the tag. It just drew me in and couldn't withdraw myself until it's too late. Now I'm all broken. I need to find a good happy romantic drama to watch now to mend my heart. Any recommendations?
Someone made a hilarious video for this drama. Maybe it can give you a few seconds of laugh-out-loud laughter to mitigate the pain. https://youtu.be/SWbAXE3CbYE
Yes, beautiful song, giving me a nostalgic feeling, especially the part that was sung in ethnic language (what…
I think the ethnic language is Yi, a minority race in China living in the western part of China - just as where Xiao Feng came from - the Xi (western) State. This is the Yi version: https://youtu.be/Zv9oLL4feBA

I just finished "Goodbye My Princess" a couple of weeks ago, desperate to find an appealing new drama to take my mind off the last one and heal my very much broken heart. I have absolutely no idea what is good or bad before I dive into watching it. I depend a lot on recommendations from my good old friends on MyDramaList. Having said that, if you haven't watched, you should have a go at "Goodbye My Princess". Everything in this drama (Goodbye My Princess) was very good. I've also recently completed "The Legends". The story, acting, CGI, makeup were quite good, but the editing was super bad. I've also watched "The Legend of Hao Lan" awhile back. Everything was pretty good for that drama. The rating is not as high as it deserves because it involves a controversial figure. Love to hear what you think.
Chen Xing Xu is such an excellent actor, despite his age. His acting is so matured. He's going to do well. Simply love him in "Goodbye My Princess" despite his very controversial role.
Well she didn't exactly "possess" Qin Zhi Yan's body... they just looked exactly alike, and Lu Zhao Yao was invisible…
They're kind of switching in and out. When Zhao Yao was talking to Zhi Yan, they used Bai Lu as Zhao Yao. When Zhao Yao was talking to others, say, Li Chen Lan, in the evening, they use Xiao Yan as Zhao Yao. This is because to Zhi Yan, Zhao Yao was Zhao Yao at all time. She could even see her when Zhao Yao was invisible. But to others, Zhao Yao was Zhi Yan in the evening; she was invisible in day light. However, in some episodes, people seemed to be able to see her even it was supposed to be in day light. This can get pretty confusing. I think this is some of the details the production team didn't take care of. There are many holes and inconsistencies like this throughout the drama.
Apparently because they didn’t manage to write a throughput ending, so they reused one of the earlier scenes…
Many Chinese dramas suffer the same fate. They may have great beginnings, then the final few episodes are usually very shoddily made. They tend to rush everything and kill off most of the characters at the end. It feels like playing toy soldiers; at the end of the game, one kid would use one toy soldier and kick down all the others.
I only just started this drama. First impression, I like it better than "The Destiny of White Snake" in terms of the story line. I love the 2 female leads, especially Xiao Yan. But I find the CGI not up to grade. All the actors' faces are whitewashed. Everything looks 2 dimensional. Dubbing and sounds are poor.
Is the ending happy/good? I don't mind spoilers! Do the leads end up together??
In a gist, yes, Lu Zhao Yao and Li Chan Lan ended up together, but it was not shown. In the last episode, which was poorly edited, it showed Li Chan Lan was in closed door, and Lu Zhao Yao waited for him to emerge. Years later, they had 2 kids who looked exactly like them, playing pretend husband and wife (which was really stupid (or sweet?)).
The ending is very opened ending. It is obvious that ending person is not Chi Yu. It probably her soulmate that…
Are you sure it's not Chi Yu? There's this Chi Yu's "pen" and he took it back from that nasty guy with Hua Shao's help. And I think he reappeared on the same beach as he first met Su Xi.
Can someone spoil the ending for me? (in a comment tagged spoiler, of course)
Chi Yu became mortal. Only mortals can walk through the door of oblivion. Su Xi tried to save Chi Yu, so she exchanged her life with Hua Shao and walked through the door of oblivion. Chi Yu arrived and went through the door. They met at the other side. But Chi Yu didn't want Su Xi to be dead forever, so he pushed her back to earth and she remains alive. He himself disappeared into oblivion. Weeks or months pass. Su Xi still misses Chi Yu dearly. Then one day, Chi Yu's "heavenly pen" appears on the beach, and a pair of man's legs standing next to it, alluding that Chi Yu is back. The End.
