This drama is all heart ache. I am currently watching this together with another which acts as an antidote, "The Legends". You should all try if you haven't started with "The Legends" yet.
I just finished watching the episodes and I just.... I don't even know anymore. What a dark episode. I loved the…
If you haven't watched "The Legends", you should try. In this drama, we have a strong FL who is a badass and loves men, beautiful men. We also have an adorable ML who is powerful yet in absolute obedient to the FL. I didn't think it was this good, and now I can't stop watching.
I felt so sad after Episode 48, but after reading your post lashing out at the unforgivable LCY, I feel much better. Yes, I want that happens to him like what you say. To be honest, my heart did fall for him for a moment when he and XF have that little bit of romance as husband and wife in the palace though he still pretends to act like a jerk towards her in public.
This drama is an amazing drama, with incredible actors, especially Peng Xiao Ran who portrays Xiao Feng. For the first time, I'm all out for a female lead rather than a male lead. Peng is so convincing in every scene she plays. She is beautiful, natural and simply amazing.
This drama is painful to watch. Can one love someone so much and yet also hate as much? The turmoil within is so heart wrenching, that is exactly what this drama captures. Can one forgive someone who has committed an heinous sin and still love him? I don't know how much tears I have shed, at the same time, I relish the romance, kindness, righteousness, beautiful natural landscape, costumes, music, poems, wuxia of this incredible drama.
If anyone who is reading this awesome article and contemplating to watch this drama, I would recommend to give it a try. You may find yourself like me and many others, get sucked into the unstoppable journey of binge watching.
Ok tell me I'd I'm wrong... So the main chick taken over the second lead appearance but there two of them? Or…
Let me see if I can explain it to you.
When Lu Zhao Yao was resurrected, she was somehow linked to Qin Zhi Yan and they looked alike in the eyes of other people. Only Qin Zhi Yan could see and hear her as Lu Zhao Yao. After Lu Zhao Yao ate some medicine to regain her power, she became invisible during day time, and reappeared in the evening. To everybody else, she looked exactly like Qin Zhi Yan. She was only visible to Qin Zhi Yan as Lu Zhao Yao at all times. So when Lu Zhao Yao went to see Mo Qing with Qin Zhi Yan's face, she was a badass, fearless and bossy. On the contrary, when the real Qin Zhi Yan met Mo Qing, she was a scaredy cat. Mo Qing noticed the difference, and knew the former was Lu Zhao Yao, his beloved.
It is very interesting to see the actress, Xiao Yan, playing 2 roles - one as a timid Qin Zhi Yan and the other as the badass Lu Zhao Yao; she portrayed the characters very well, switching in and out.
I’m 5 episodes in. It’s kinda odd with the way the story flows. As if I am watching a “short”/“cut”…
There's no "long version" or "short version" per se. It's just how the drama's been cut. One version (Youtube) has, kind of, a prologue/preface in the beginning. The other version has next episode preview at the end. So they can be confusing, but once you get the hang of a version, after a few episodes (for me, like 10 episodes - I'm slow), you'll find it easy to follow.
That's exactly how I feel too about this drama - you hit right on the spot. Great analysis. To be honest, I did enjoy it in the beginning - simply for its simplicity and endearing moments when the female and male leads were together, which was not very frequent, as you pointed out. As the drama developed, it kind of felt incoherent, but I still plodded on. Only coming to the final episode where they jammed everything into one episode, that was a big let down. This is a frequent mistake made by many Chinese dramas.

The Youtube version was cut so bad that they are confusing. So, if you can understand Chinese with no subs, watch the above version instead.
