The first trailer with official English subtitles has just been released:https://youtu.be/5HGHdWKhlCQ
Yes! Just saw the trailer and I'm stoked! Zhou Yiwei looks intense and I couldn't be happier. But there seems to be an African in the trailer. Do you know what his character is?
Who will falling in love first, chang an or wan mei?
My theory is: in the beginning Wan Mei developed a crush on Chang An. Chang An probably was quite impressed with her survival sense, her intelligence, and later on was touched when she went all out her way to get his medication. Then their feelings grew, confirmed at the first swinging moment, and got stronger with the trials and tribulations. In my opinion, it's one of the best romance development in a C-drama.
Better, he already appears in ep 70 because I just saw him!
Haaaa... I missed that! (Because I skim watched Ru Yi with excessive FF). No wonder his appearance in the beginning of ep 70 looks rather abrupt, apparently there's another scene presiding it.
Thanks! Just saw the page of the drama -- it was completed in 2016 but scheduled to air in 2020?? I assume the delay was also due to the previous ban on shows starring Korean actors, no?
Wow, thank you very much, Erudite! I love both spin-offs (although I like my own fan fiction a tad bit more, hahahhaha!).…
Ah, thank you for the information. Like I said, it could be an interesting plot with that part of history (although I'm not really liking it at the moment).
Since there's no review yet for the series, can anyone who has watched the series share their views/opinions? I don't really care about happy/sad ending, or whether there is romance or not, as long as it's enjoyable. It's got pretty good Douban rating (7.6) so I'm curious about international audience's opinions.

Haaaa... I love that we're even discussing the spin off chapters, although they are not official! :)))
I tend to agree with you about the Ruan Niang fake suicide, it's not too convincing. It never occurred to me the writer will make Chang An informing Gongzi about his whereabout, but I kinda like the idea, because it shows a very confident Chang An. Still, a lot of plotholes, but this is only a short spin off. Should they finally decide (and have the money!) to produce the sequel, those should be addressed. I want a tight script like this one, but with a much, much better editing.
Yay! 1000th comment!
