Ah yes, the classic “people only liked Pursuit of Jade for the beauty over brains/brawns” takes—always popping up right after the drama ends. 😂
Sure, maybe some loved the Lian’an Village arc or a certain actor… but reducing the whole story to looks alone? Bold move. Guess character arcs, secrets, and plot twists just magically didn’t exist for some viewers.
And yes, episode 17 was apparently so unforgettable that you’ll never rewatch it… but hey, at least you got that hot take out.

If that’s the only conclusion you reached, then maybe you missed the actual plot, the character motivations, and the themes the story was building. People didn’t enjoy it just because someone looked good on screen—some of us actually paid attention to the narrative too.
Comparing it to 'The Prisoner of Beauty' and acting like anyone who liked this drama must have ignored the story is a bit of a stretch. Different dramas work in different ways, and audiences can enjoy more than one thing at the same time.
And the whole “people only rated it high because of one arc or one actor” argument is just speculation. People are capable of liking a drama for multiple reasons—story, characters, emotional moments, or even just the overall experience.
If you didn’t enjoy it, that’s completely fine. But reducing everyone else’s opinion to “they only care about beauty” says more about the assumption than about the viewers.

i think the drama focused on emotional meaning as well as deep meaning behind lot of things. i feel like even without much of epic fighting scenes drama was soo good. haven't still moved from POJ genuinely, even behind the scenes this is the time i have seen ZHL most comfortable and undeniably they had best chemistry. from both of them this is the best drama. need to think twice to watch overdo bcuz POJ IS GOATED AND ICONIC. finger crossed hoping to see them on another drama
