Production quality: Thailand is much much much better. The Japanese version, even though I loved it, had terrible color grading and just looked cheap. GMMTV obviously invested money into this production. The opening scenes of Achi going to work were especially pretty.
Acting: The Thai actors did well but Japan has better acting from the leads. Machida Keita as Kurosawa did a fantastic job of presenting a polished exterior but letting you know through his eyes and posture what he was really thinking and feeling. And Akaso Eiita was a hilarious baby constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown. TayNew are solid but not quite to that level. I'm not sure New is selling me on being a virgin. But I expect the Thai second leads to do better because the Japanese second leads were pretty terrible.
OST: Thailand by a mile, which you'd expect from GMMTV
Story: The vibe from Thailand was a lot more low key and bittersweet than the Japanese first episode which leaned heavily into OTT comedy. Achi's loneliness came through much more strongly. It also felt like Achi is already more open to exploring his feelings for Karan while Adachi was having a full meltdown in Japan's first ep. I like the localization to Thailand and the blending of Thai and Japanese elements in the sets and story (the company has the same name in both versions).
My verdict: This is a really solid start. It hasn't grabbed me the way Japan did but it also feels like the director is trying to do something different with the basic story. The inherent sweetness of the original is still there. They also have more time to tell the story and we will definitely get more skinship in the Thai version so I'm really excited to see how it all unfolds.
I could see it happening, though, even to the strongest of people.Even IRL, there are stars who with a fake accusation…
The two other women who work for her could testify that she wasn't abusive and that the other woman was nuts. That whole setup makes no sense at all. Also why did her sisters and niece move back with her, don't they have jobs and school?
Since Cherry Magic Thailand is about to drop I decided to finally watch the original and omg it was everything I ever wanted it's so cuuuuuuuuuuuute 🍒✨🫰🫶😍 But as much as I loved the original I'm still excited to see what Thailand does with the story.
I mostly love adaptations because I enjoy seeing what the different directors and actors do with the same source material. For example, I've seen every live action version of Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers and I thought F4 Thailand was fantastic. GMMTV knows this story has huge international appeal so I think they are investing the money to tell the story right but with a Thai vibe instead of a Japanese vibe.
The first episode was super cute but I do not like the second couple. I'm tired of harassment being passed off as flirting. Also Neo proved he can do so much more than this.
I agree, they need something like a Moonlight Chicken where they get to play their ages. This drama is very cute…
I don't know why they set this in college. They could have done almost this exact same plot with the leads as working adults. Off as an unhappy stressed out doctor and Gun cooking at his family's struggling restaurant. The ship would be intact only they'd be playing adults. It's weird they're boxed in like this because EarthMix haven't fallen into this trap for some reason.
I believe, at this point, we all watch anything that OffGun give us. So starting this wasn't a question. But,…
I agree, they need something like a Moonlight Chicken where they get to play their ages. This drama is very cute but they can do this kind of thing in their sleep. I know that Off has branched out with Midnight Motel and even The Jungle as bad as that was
This pink and green is really making this drama not enjoyable for me and I'm only on ep 1!!!!!1
This reminds me of my reaction to Call It Love 😆 but I hope you stick with the drama because the color scheme is used in contrast with the colors in later episodes, the differences are striking and effective
So many people with second lead syndrome but to me if you hang out with someone for 10 years under the guise of friendship while hoping for more, that's not terribly romantic. He was sweet and adorable and cared for the FL but he was also immature.
Something I loved about the ML is that he wasn't afraid to show his interest or to be his authentic weirdo self. Also he was mature, a real adult. I love the scene where she rejects him and he says you rejecting me is okay, it happens, but it's not okay for you to put yourself down.
I didn't enjoy the first two eps, didn't feel any chemistry between the leads, and felt disconnected from the…
I don't think the story really takes off until episode 3 and the fl's mental health journey doesn't start until episode 7. Having said that, I did enjoy all the characters right away so if you don't that might be a sign it's not for you
It's excellent but the poster and trailer are misleading because they make it seem like a lighthearted comedy but it gets very dark in the middle and could be triggering for some people. But I loved it. Probably my favorite drama of the year.
It does showcase a few patients with these issues. Different people have different triggers so it’s hard to…
I'm going to disagree with some of the people here and say that if you have current mental health issues you may find this too intense. I know some people have said they found it cathartic but I've also seen people saying they found it triggering so you should be careful watching it.
