yes..i think she is better than general in female general and shadow love 😆
I finished Female General just before starting this, and I have to agree. Fu Yixiao has that natural gravitas and domineering presence of a general, whereas for the one in Female General, though her being petite and weak-looking was part of the plot, it had more to do with the way she carried herself, her gaze, and the way she spoke which fell short compared to the female general here.
I've only seen Li Qin in Joy of Life and her role there was kinda plain so it didn't really leave an impression on me. But here, I thought she pulled off the role of a general so well!! It didn't feel forced or like she was acting tough at all. It also wasn't like she was purposely behaving more masculine. She didn't have to. She presented herself as a woman the whole time, yet she didn't lack the strong presence of a general. Even when she was speaking softly or looking at Suige lovingly, you still feel that she's a general.
I have yet to watch Shadow Love so I can't comment on that yet. Lol. Gonna start watching that soon!
Just finished the series and I'm actually feeling kinda disappointed with the last few episodes...
It was still good up till the part where they left the storm alliance. But then the last few episodes didn't quite land for me.
I was expecting some solid development from Xiyang. But judging by the things she's said even after joining hands with the emperor and at the very end, she's still what they call a 恋爱脑 through and through.
Earlier when she divorced Xia Jingshi, she spoke as if he owed her, and I just got so tired with her. I get it though, she's the princess. She thinks the world revolves around her. She thinks she deserves everything. She still thinks just because she willingly did so much for him, he should've loved her back in return. So then she hates XJS because he didn't reciprocate her feelings, and didn't give in when she threw herself at him?? So if he slept with her when she stripped, then he's a man worth loving?? So you mean like the emperor????
Well, it figures though. What she said at the end proved it. She said she fell in love with a man who broke her heart (🙄) , then met a man who loved her, and in the end she couldn't even keep his child. I'm like.... 😦?????? So the man who fooled around with women and decided to sleep with her when he didn't realize his feelings yet, and even used her and confined her, and refused to let her leave, was a man who didn't deserve to die? And the man who kept refusing to sleep with you, treated you with respect and looked away even when you forced yourself on him, and even told you many times and gave you many chances to leave, is the one you loathe and wronged you? Ugh, I give up.
Honestly, whenever Xiyang breaks down in tears like we're supposed to feel sorry for her, I felt nothing at all. XJS is a jerk, but he also said the truth. Xiyang brought this all on herself. She made the decision to betray her father and brother. She made the decision to threaten Suige with her own life to help XJS. Yet when things went downhill back home, she blamed XJS for it? Even she said it herself to Suige that she brought it on herself, but she also still thinks XJS wronged her. The only time he wronged her was putting that sword through her. He never wanted to hurt her and he never once did, until Xiyang left him with no choice.
Xia Jingshi has done lots of bad things. I'm not saying he's good. But I did appreciate how he didn't take advantage of Xiyang and still kept telling her to leave. Still, even though I know it aligns with Suige's protective character of his sister, I find it ridiculous how he (and Xiyang) blame XJS for what happened to their father. Erm....it was the empress' and the Murongs' fault?? It was also Xiyang's fault for betraying her family first?? It sounded so lame for Xiyang and even Suige to pin everything on Xia Jingshi (on top of the Murongs). If he's referring to the things before their father died, I agree. But ever since XJS left Susha, whatever happened in Susha basically had nothing to do with him anymore.
Xia Jingshi deserves to die for building the death camp, for manipulating Yixiao, for trying to kill Yixiao. But making it all about Xiyang at the end just fell so flat because Xiyang's reason for hating him sounded so stupid (though I get where she's coming from). But Xiyang still sounded like a spoiled entitled princess to me until the very end, which kinda irked me.
Did she really learn her lesson? To be very honest, I don't feel like she did. Like Suige said, she's always been a tough girl inside. So her "toughening up" wasn't exactly a development or growth, it was just amplifying her traits. At most, she put her family first now. She learned that no one cares more about her than her family and that her family matters most. But other than that, her views on "love" remained the same.
If she really learned her lesson, she wouldn't have thrown herself again at another man, and then actually fall for that man too. Why? Because she didn't really LEARN that she couldn't change a man. She only learned that she was foolish to think she could change Xia Jingshi. Keyword: Xia Jingshi, not "a man". She fell for Jinxiu's emperor at the end because she felt that she "changed" him. She was the "special one". The one-in-a-million lady whom the emperor fell for. So she was moved by it, and she smiled for him at last. 😑 She and the Jinxiu emperor really suited each other though.
I really enjoyed this drama up till the final 3rd or 4th episode. Chengyang was a refreshing character too because although he's sweet and kind, he isn't stupid and isn't blinded by power or greed. I also like Ning Fei. I thought if Xia Jingshi got to him first, he might choose to return to him. Or that he'd still think of Suige and his people as enemies after he's recovered. I'm glad he was such a loyal friend to Yixiao. Love that he ended up with Xueying too!! I also love Xueying. Too bad we didn't get to see much of her towards the end. But omg her dad Ling Feng is hilarious 😂😂 Also love the fight scenes especially in the first half when they had to impress the audiences with Suige and Yixiao's skills. Those were really well choreographed.
Just finished Ep14 and I can't stand the princess too!! Lol. But it makes sense she's so naive coz she's been…
I felt bad for her initially....but idk, by Ep25, I've just given up on her. I get that she just simply wants to love Xia Jingshi and wishes he loves her back, but I just can't stand the way she keeps forcing herself on Xia Jingshi when he's made himself very clear and repeatedly told her to stop.
Just finished Ep14 and I can't stand the princess too!! Lol. But it makes sense she's so naive coz she's been…
Initially, I get her too and don't blame her. And yes, she's really frustrating. But after Ep25, I just can't stand her anymore. The way she kept forcing herself on Xia Jingshi really doesn't sit well with me. Every time she does that, it makes me feel so uncomfortable. Like girl, JUST STOP.
I get where Princess Xiyang is coming from and she's just blindly in love with Xia Jingshi. But gosh. I used to…
I also feel really bad for Murong Yao. After hearing his reason, what happened to him and his father was really unfair. BUT, it also wasn't Suige's fault either. Hopefully he'll come around and help Suige moving forward.
I get where Princess Xiyang is coming from and she's just blindly in love with Xia Jingshi. But gosh. I used to feel bad for her, but the way she kept forcing herself onto him and kept thinking she can change him was just so suffocating. It made me hate her. When she first told Suige that she can change Xia Jingshi, that was the first thing her character didn't sit well with me. And everything she did after that, I understand, but she's just someone who can't take no for an answer. She demands Suige to respect her choices and feelings, but has she ever done the same toward Xia Jingshi?
Xia Jingshi used Yixiao, Weiran, and Ningfei. He manipulated them all. He's no saint. But so far, at least it seems he genuinely cares for Yixiao, Weiran, and Ningfei. He also doesn't wanna take advantage of Xiyang. But Xiyang just kept pushing his buttons. Seriously. Girl, have some self respect. That man doesn't love you.
When Xiyang kept going on about all the things she did for him, as if he owed her....I just couldn't help but roll my eyes. He never forced her, or asked her to do anything first. Everything she did, she volunteered first and did it willingly. He even turned down her help several times, kept giving her chances to leave, but she insisted on staying and helping him. It was HER choice. She knew he was desperate. She knew he'd cave and accept her help if she was pushy enough.
And accusing Yixiao of manipulating him instead of him manipulating Yixiao??? Omg. Open your eyes. How blind are you. Not only would Xia Jingshi and Feng Suige get pissed, I wouldn't let anyone talk crap about my girl Yixiao like that too. Honestly, that slap was so satisfying. Who is she to speak of Yixiao like that.
Because of this so called "love" that Xiyang claims she has for Xia Jingshi, she has become such an insufferable person. That's not love. That's just obsession. The usual drama way, Xia Jingshi might fall for her in the end. But I really, REALLY hope he doesn't. He's a jerk, but at least he's got some principles and he's loyal to Yixiao. I want him to stay loyal to Yixiao because Yixiao deserves that. I also want Xiyang to learn her lesson and wake up. You can't change anyone in the name of love. You shouldn't force love on anyone either. I just hope Xiyang wouldn't team up with the crazy king of Jinxiu. If she really does, then she's a gone case for me. I couldn't care less about her ending anymore.
On Ep18...and I've been feeling iffy about Murong Yao for some time now. I really hope he doesn't betray Feng Sui Ge. Too many people have betrayed him. But the brother code really screamed betrayal from the start... 🙃
guys i cant do this anymore when the fuq is the sister/princess gonna wake tf up and stop making stupid decisions
Just finished Ep14 and I can't stand the princess too!! Lol. But it makes sense she's so naive coz she's been sheltered all her life. Still, gosh. Whenever she talks about Xia Jingshi lovingly, I have to keep reminding myself that she's been deceived just like how Fu Yixiao used to be. Just that Fu Yixiao, thankfully, wasn't naive like the princess.
am I the only who wouldn’t bug any clothes from their business but like I only buy it out of empathy
Neo-Chinese fashion is actually getting more and more popular these days. If you go on Rednote, you'll see tons of people, especially from China, flaunting it. A friend of mine has been into it for years and I got influenced, even I ended up getting a Song Dynasty top myself recently.
But these styles are rather complicated sometimes and you really need to have some good fashion sense to carry the look, so not many people dare to try. And it does attract some attention since it's uncommon, so you've gotta wear it with confidence. But since this drama is set in China, I guess you won't feel so out of place wearing it there. It's just like wearing modern-style hanbok in South Korea.
Some of the designs may also be a little inconvenient for everyday activities, but they definitely make a statement if you wear them in slightly more formal events. And for really good quality ones, they can be really expensive. There are definitely good quality and more affordable ones too. But if you get cheap ones, it'll definitely look cheap and it'll just be a waste of money. So people who are into Neo-Chinese fashion would rather pay more for good quality pieces.
Finally had the time to binge the last few episodes, and the ending just made my heart so full. LA's been such a great drama and it deserves all the praises. And their chemistry!!! That jump hug kiss in ep28 with the stunning night view of that town in the background was just beautiful, and the bts left me laughing so much 😂 Lusi and William work so well together. I'm so happy they did this drama together.
Love's Ambition isn't your typical romance drama with angst. It offers so much more about friends and family too, and most importantly, you as your own person. Gonna miss our Haoming and Yanyan power couple so much!
