Title Physical: 100 Spoiler
Episode 6 :
They should have let the contestants make the team before telling them the new challenge. Had they not know what it was about and considering the previous one, the teams could have been more heterogenous. It gave 0 chances to the last team who has less muscles.

This (ep 6) challenge looks insanely difficult 🤯 Honestly whoever wins, props to them, I'm cheering everyone…
SK is incredibly misogynistic so that's no surprise for me, but 100% agree

"sis.... don't kill me but i only watched this for the first time recently "
LMAO i'm blocking you!
You said "also maybe bc i'm old and had just finished high school when it came out" so I assumed you watched it WHEN it came out, what do you mean you watched it recently ????? gIRL, lmaooo, I can't even defend you , I'm taking away all the the gymnastic I made to somehow defend you on it. How does it smell down in the sewer ??? hun??

"don't watch it when you wanna watch something fluffy"
I rarely do and the way you describe the drama is how I thought it would be so that's good for me! I love politics and power dynamic. I didn't see the british version, I thought it was a remake of an american production but now I'm conflicted about which version to watch because I do love how british people shoot their shows !!

"i was gonna ask about my mister and my liberation note! i tend to stay away from melos because they bore me to tears or depress me lol. what'd you like about them?"

Ok, so, they are so hard to describe so I hope I won't make you run away from it. You see how you say that nowaday it makes no sense that they wait 15 episodes to hold hands ? In my liberation note, you have two adults who both search in each other something more than romance. It's not about trying to get a boyfriend and a girlfriend but about trying to feel alive together instead of being depressed alone. It's done in a very mature way, not in a "YOLO" kinf of way. See I'm already bad at it lmaoo. They are ALL adults people in the working life and the main comes from a poor family in the countryside with all the children working in Seoul. We actually focus on her but also her brother and her sister. They struggle a lot because of their status now that they all tasted life at seoul because of work. We see them try to find meaning in their lived and literally just, live. It's not boring at ALL. I refuse to believe anyone thought of it as boring, even though it's not filmed in a super fast fast pace. There is so much character growth from literally everyone and it was just so good. Idk how to explain it, this show was such a confort every week. The start is a bit slow but I swear you won't regret it.

As for My Mister, the pacing is actually the same, it's not rushed, it very mature and it focuses on this young girl who's very very poor and sees a chance to correct that at the depend of what she will learn is a very very good man. I don't how to sell you this one, I gave everything on the first one hahaha! Honeslty, it reminds me of rainy winter days at 11pm on the street to my way home after work on a friday night, knowing the week-end is here. That's literally how I would desribe it. But if you have one a chance and you love it, give the other one a chance too.
I feel like if you could hold on to Mr.Sunshine, you can do these two. Only these have less episodes :)

"it's wild to me that people will have a bunch of 10s on their list"
I think it depends on how accurate you decide to make your ratings and how serious you take ratings. 100% agree with you that havint so many 10s is wild but I think it's because we value our ratings more than them. Or maybe they just have low standards haha.
Sometimes I will post a critic and someone will answer disagreeing and if I'm too lazy to debat, I'll look at their 10s and if they rated 10s things that I really didn't like or have like 15 kdramas rated 10, I'll just ignore the reply lol.

" the bullying one second and then falling in love?"
I was flabbergasted with the audacity of the writers lmaooo
But if you saw it a while ago, I'll allow it. I got into kdramas a little bit under 3 years ago (I'm a lockdown arrivist haha) so it was already too old for me to watch. And the hair ? HAHAHAHA.
Sue me, but I don't like Lee Minho, I never saw anything from him because I wan't with his face.
But I do get the nostalgic feelings it could bring you, like, you saw it when you could like it and your mind just accepted it that you can still watch it today even though it's bad bad.

"but i love a mature couple"
I'm not fan of romance myself but yeah if t's mature enough I'll watch it. It's easier for me if the couple is married because we skip the corny flirting that koreans love to write. I haven't seen world of the married yet, I've been putting off the watch because I feel like it's the kind of drama that could potentially be so good that it could ruin everything that comes after.
Mr.sunshine was chef's kiss. I would have loved more romance myself but in the case of the show, the historical and class context explains the modesty of the main couple. In today's time, characters that take 10 episodes to hold hands make no sense because that's not even how koreans are in real life. So for once, I didn't mind, but I was craving for more for sure. I feel like they handled the edginess really well. And the side characters were all so interesting that I didn't feel like they were just here to fill some screen time.
The red sleeve is for sure less less less mature than mr sunshine, but like I said, my 10 comes from the female lead's moral and personality :)

I'll check reset first then, it's good that it came out this year!

"it seems like dramas are only written by one person."
I sort of dont mind because it's easier to follow a writer's work after that haha. If a writer did a good drama, I tend to check the next one even if the summary doesn't appeal me.
Like, My Mister was such an amazing drama that when the writer came up with My libertation note, I had to watch it and I didn't regret it.
I highly highly reccomend them since you like more kdramas with a more mature story. It's not corny, it's not too much, it's the perfect amount of everything imo. It's a bit bittersweet but not the kind that makes you regret watching the show.

Like I said, internalised misogyny is hard thing to eradicate. Mix that with fan cultu re and anonymity on the internet and you have the worse things women can says about another woman on full display. It's sad. MDL is full of people from all around the world I would guess and of all ages. It's easy to either find youg girls or women from countries were feminism is not as developed as some other parts of the world to propose an explanation to most of the bad things we can see. I'd like to think feminists are not among the ones being mean but the truth is, anonymity can allow anyone to be mean

Are your questions real questions you want answers to (which I can provide), or were they just rhetorical to then call me pathetic?

I agree.
It's because older man/younger woman type of relationships are way more normalised than the other way around. I mean, when the female protagonist in a romcom is older, it's called a "noona drama", but there is no name for when the man is older.
In my language there is only one term to describe someone who is older in a relationship and it's only when it's the woman (couguar), I assume it's the case in a lot of languages, though I wouldn't know for sure..

People are a product of their environment unfortunately. If
Lee Do Hyun was not as young, I'm sure no one would point SHK's age...

"The fact that women themselves put men on a pedestal and promote contempt and hatred for their own gender is baffling."

Internalised misogyny is a hard thing to eradicate, I wouldn't expect you to fully understand it since you're a man (though internalised racism could have been part of your journey too, and it works a bit the same), but it requires women to question everything they ever learned and how they think and view the world. It's hard, but yes, it is sad indeeed.

"sometimes i'll even check out the watchlist for people who gave poor ratings"
Wait that's so smart hahaha, I'll start doing that too! I hope you like my watchlist then. Some are not even accurate because I watched them a while a go when my standards were a little lower.

"like boys over flowers"
noooo, how dare you? This kdrama belongs to sewer please T_T
I feel like romance is fine if it's well dosed. One thing I hate is when they introduce romance in a show that is not about romance and then romance starts to take a big part of the screen time. I didn't sign up for this! I agree that romance is not bad if you go for romance from the get go and it's mature.
Sometimes I'll go for romance and be surprised by depth and that's when I like romance the most. And it's actually rare in kdramas so I agree with you on the corny comment.
For exemple The red sleeve that came out in 2022, I only checked it because it's a historical drama and so far I seem to enjoy them + the actors didn't look like teenagers so I thought "ok, that's more on the adult side". I knew it would be about romance but the depth they gave to the main female character is what made me love the drama. I love that they didn't compromise the woman she was until the end. I wouldn't have expected that from a kdrama. I see that it's not on your list so I won't spoil if you ever give it a shot, but a certain level of feminism is not what I expected to see when I started it.

"i've been branching out to other asian thrillers since it seems like i only really enjoy 1 or 2 kdramas a year lately"
You and I both, they just don't seem to be willing to pay good writters for some reason.
I added a couple of your highest rated cdramas on my watching list so I'll be watching them asap ! I'll let you know!
I don't know much about chinese productions but one of the movies that marked the most is chinese (Better days; yes I seem to have something with bullying but not in a weird way, I promise....), so I hope I'll love chinese dramas.

"someone will reply back saying it's an issue of taste"
yeahh haha and then they say that they weren't particularly bothered by what you are poiting out. If it's a small thing, sure, but when it's a huge plot hole or something, how can you not be bothered?
The probleme is that there are a lot of people who hype bad dramas because they only recently got in kdramas. Kdramas are very specific to SK so if you come from another country, it usually is something very new to your eyes and you tend to be blown away by anything. They're among the ones who rate bad kdramas 10/10.

So I do literally exactly like you, I usually go to one of my 10/10 kdramas and go on the watchlist of people who rated it 10/10 too to see if they have the same taste than me and then just watch what they rated good lool

"there have been a few times now where i'll watch a highly rated drama only to find out it was complete shit and the people hyping it up were fans of the actors"
I think the worst part is when the actor is not even good and I'm like "the plot is bad, the actor is bad, what are you here for?"
I lost so much time when I got into kdramas because that. All those romance kdramas that are soo highly rated that I gave my time to, still mad about it.
I tend to be wary of popular kdramas now. The last one I have a shot that came ouf this year was Attorney Woo and I regretted it -_-

I never gave cdramas a shot yet, mainly because I wouldn't know where to start and can't lose time like I did when I got into kdramas, but I've seen some movies and they were really good. I might get into it at some point.

"for someone who's had 20 years to plan, there should be no room for error"
exactly ! a whole flat in front of her bully's house full of nothing but photos made it seem like she had this huge perfect plan, but nothing.
I feel like a lot of the incoherent things happening in kdramas still happen because people don't raise their standards and so writers don't care to write things right. MDL is not SK but for exemple here, eveytime someone points out defaults in a drama plot, often than not, people get mad because they were either reaching or being hateful for no reason (?).
It's not surprising when you see the kind of popular dramas on this site, the plots are usually empty.

Honestly I don't mind her being with the bully's husband if it means not being with that kid actor that looks like he's 20 years younger than her T_T

lmaoo I literally commented that she relied too much on luck a few days ago on the glory mdl page and had someone try to convince me that she didn't, like, so many part of her plans is just going her way not because she made sure it does but just because she was lucky that it did

gave this a high rating but now that i think about it… why was the revenge thing so bland.. yea there’s season…
Because the plan was bland (so far). They introduced her planning her revenge for years and then most of her plan so far is spying in the present and getting outside help + a bit of luck, rather than having things gathered and prepared for years. You'd expect more from someone who's been preparing for years. She seems unprepared and depends on a lot of external factors or external help. And so far she did nothing apart coming back in their lives and scaring her old bullies (who all becam pushovers over the years for some reason when they used to be the most cruel people she could have meet).

Can you elaborate the part that rely with the luck factor for the main lead? I don't think she is particularly…
"him going with the plan or not didn't affect her plan that much because what she needs was the hair"
Without him she wouldn't have had the DNA and if she could have then why didn't she use another way ? He also gave her Sa ra's book which she used to leverage her. He was useful to her plan. All those years of planning all this relied on one of her ex bully's cooperation? It's not very elaborate to me.
"He has always want to be more but he can't, she gives him the outlet"
Again, I know that, the writers did their job to explain those things perfectly, but it's still dumb luck. They allowed her to have him on her corner.

"what she aimed is the feeling is hopelessness"
I didn't state in in my original comment but I'll say it here, the difference between young YJ and adult YJ is also too out of character for me. No way did that scary bully turned into that pushover would get anxious that easily. Someone this cruel just doesn't change that much just because she got older. You would expect her to be even more cunning actually. She killed a girl, tortured others, no way would she feel hopelessness just because an old victim is back. She's someone who believes money can solve any-thing. All she had to do was transfer her daughter and call her bluff.

"Also this is 1st part"
which is why I said "so far" in my original comment, I'm waiting to see the rest to be able to fully judge the story. There are other points that bother me but I'll wait to see what they do with is before making a full judgement.

"no contingencies means it more based on luck"
No contigency means full control, nothing else can happend apart from what you planned. No ifs, no other possibilities. Meaning no luck. A lot of things could have gones different ways, it didn't, because of luck, not because of control.

"Not to mention this drama isn't even over yet people compare it to a fully aired drama."
You asked be to develop my point and I did, it's your pick. I also wrote "so far", because again, waiting for part 2 to fully judge.
