I dropped it as well, read episodes recaps after and I don’t regret dropping it. It went downhill after eight…
That's sooooooo bad, I can't believe you said it's not worse than BE lmaoo I can't remember much of the plot but the mystery part in BE was way better than in Link. I mean the plotwist in BE was so obvious but I kept thinking "no, that can't be him, right?" that it actually kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole hidden in plain sight worked really well in my opinion. I knew from the get go that Link would give us NOTHING in term of mystery solving. I mean, poorly written mystery shows can be spotted from miles away. They just casted 2 popular actors to get their views, a bit of mystery to get people to keep watching and then gave us nothing. Every year you can count on one finger the good dramas and every year I wish it would be enough to raise the bar, but please, it's 2022 what even was this show?? Thanks for the recap, glad I dropped it haha!
arf, he could have gone with a drama with a better trope since he gained some credibility and popularity after his acting in TRSC. What kind of reused plot is that? Cold CEO vs cute employee ? In 2022 ?
can somone care to explain what exactly Yul did to check if dead body was soulshift? like yeah we can check the…
Ok, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but how I understand it, I think when the soul is not mage (or energy related), the body doesn't go wild because their energy gate is not open thus no energy is leaking. Someone who uses their energy though (mages and all..) will lose energy and will need to feed on a souls. Things go south once you start feeding on souls (which is why Mudeok was concerned after she fed on the eunuch). Mudeok didn't go wild before because during the soul shifting, Naksu lost her energy (like Kang Jang did when he switched bodies with the king, because the host body was too weak). The apprentice was killed, closed energy gate, no energy leaking, didn't go wild. Then Yul put energy in him, but of course he's dead so the energy left. Leaked energy = running wild, apparently even dead.
Wow, that episode really delivered after yesterday's one. So many revelations! We know that once a soul shifter feeds on another person's energy is when trouble starts, next episodes will be interesting! There are so many foreshadowings regarding who/what Mudeok really is, once we understand it better, coming back on the past episodes, a lot of scenes will make more sense.
Oh that's soo helpful, I'll look at it, thanks! I usually just hope to catch up on people's name with time and that those I don't remember won't have a big impact plotwise haha
We definetly saw the soul ejector before + the guy that wanted Jang uk's body used one if you try to recall the scene. It's when Jang Uk met Mudeok (the real one) and then he in the end didn't end up losing his body. So at this point we sort of know what they are and what they do andhow they work. There is this guy he also kept alive using it, maybe it's the euneuch? I honestly don't remember who it was haha. But he looked important enough that I though "oh, he's definetly keeping important people alive to gain power". So the revelation that he keeps mages alive was not so surprising. But then you were right if you thought of an army haha
Most people care about the side love plots though, you can't treat this drama like a normal kdrama, it is a world…
Oh come one what kind of comparaison is that ? hahaha There were no filler episodes in GOT, apart from the last season lol. What I meant is that, in the kdrama industry, dragging always happens at some point in most productions, so there is no reason to be shocked that it happens here too, especially when we have more episodes than the 16 expected one.
not really? I mean at least to me, idk, it was kind of obvious that he was using the soul ejector to keep his friends alive from the first time we saw it do it and to gain power the second time we saw it attempt it (but failed obviously), so it's not surprising that he's keeping mages on his side alive when they grow old. Or did I misunderstood who the mages were?
I don't see the crown prince as a parody. He is more like friend to be. My olny regret is that we don't get too…
Idk, he's the crown prince, how does he have time to waste on a servant who plays him all the time? And you're right, nothing on his mage side, but nothing on his crown prince side either. Like I said, it's like he's only here to move the plot, we only see him when the plot need his crown prince privilege or whatever to move the plot a bit. And for him to care so much about a servant's opinion feels unrealistic a bit ? idk, I don't understand his writting...
Well at least the people who complained Naksu was not being a good master were again proven wrong.
We knew that the queen had the Ice stone and we already knew how Jin Mu used the soul ejector so that whole part was a bit redundant. One of the only relevent thing was the bet (Jang Uk gets to train more) and that bit of info about BY being brought back to life through the ice stone (+connexion between the ice stone and the king's star). I assume it has a connexion to the mirror saying Mudeok was the ice stone. Mudeok's friend pretending to be BY was obvious the second she got taken, so no surprise, but, eh sure, still plot. I can definetly see how this episode was seen as a bit of a filler since there were not much new info (only 3/4 important ones) and the place of the side romance was enormous, so of course for those who don't care, it's too much.
What bothers me personally is that I really don't know what they are doing with the crown prince. They wrote him to care about Mudeok but in such a weird and unrealistic way, I don't understand. I feel like his whole character is a parody. It could have been funny if the parody side of his character didn't serve the plot so much (Jung Uk unsealed his sword because of him, Mudeok got in Songrim because of him, now Jang Uk trains because of him). It feels like plot laziness and I really hate that I don't understand what's the point of writting him like that except to serve the plot (and Mudeok).
I'd like to say that you won't find many 16 episodes drama that use perfectly their 16 episodes, most should have less episodes, and yet...so to expect a 20 episodes one to not drag is wishing for a lot lol
Thanks for the spoiler on the webtoon, I wondered what happend after since S3 is not happening!
Knowing they couldn't make with a third season, they should have chose one of the two mains, introducing the last guy and leaving it on an open ending kind of thing is stupid imo
I was rooting for Woong (since they did such a bad job with Yumi and Babi's relationship) but honestly I was rooting for a more structured ending. We can tell they tried to put as much content as possible in the second half given that the third season we were suppose to have is not happening. I assume that guy in the end is the love interest that comes after in the webtoon. Since they could not introduce him properly I felt like the second half was dragged in a fake suspens plot with the combo possible love triangle + break up/make up, and all of that in so little time that it just felt like they were trying to rush it all. The last 2 episodes really were : so marriage, family meeting + perfect daughter in law, also time skip (love is gone), in fact no marriage (but love is back), ah woong the return... and babi? nope, new love intesrest, bye.
They took their time in the first season, showing us even the cells of Woong which gave soooo much dept to their relationship which was lacking a lot in the one Yumi had with Babi. I never felt like they were trully in love, not like with Woong, especially because both of them went for the other in order to forget their ex. I feel like they tried to give Babi and Yumi's relationship but rushed it so much and then ended up giving up and put as much content as possible in part 2. Again, this can I assume be explained by the fact that no season 3 meant rushing the story. I even tried to defend Yumi's decision in breaking up with him but I swear I was like "does she even care ? Is she even in love with him?". I couldn't buy in their relationship. I felt the love coming from Babi (prompts to PJY, he's really skilled) but never from Yumi. Babi is a true mystery to me because of how little we saw his cells, it's a pity, I feel like I could have liked him a lot more and PJY did a good job portraying the sweet guy that Babi appears to be (though his face probably helps a lot haha)... We still don't know why he decided to hide Yumi the moment he fell in love with her ? If someones reads the webtoon and know, I don't mind the spoiler.
They didn't even give the two male love interest any rest, both of them are not over her which hint at a potential third season but if it's not happening, at least have them move on, end it. It was a given that she would not choose any of them because of how the webtoon went, but since S3 is not happening, ending on a "let's jump to another guy" makes it look like we are back at season 1 with Yumi still not in a happy relationship, so what was the point of these 2 seasons in term of story telling ? She got 2 boyfriend and then back to square one ? Nice.... I don't even feel like her she had any character growth lool. The only good thing she did was take the risk of being a writter and that was not even coming from her but from Babi. I felt like she was younger and more immature in S2 than in S1, for some reason.... Anyway, S1 was better, disapointed with S2
