If you want something kind of similar to this I really recommend Empress Ki. Its a kdrama on netflix however its set in China under Mongol rule. Costumes are stunning and the story is so fast paced and exciting. The FL starts off as being a tribute woman/ slave to then becoming a soldier, maid and finally the Empress its such an epic story. If you liked Yanxi palace you will deffo like this drama. The episodes fly by!

There are many ways to earn merit and she's chosen a very dangerous path, Yuchan the 1st class maid, told her to be careful, as if she makes a mistake it could lead to horrible consequences. I also felt she is putting her identity in jeopardy.
