What does FSF mean? Whats the Imperial Age about? I watched the trailer, it seems a more ML focused drama. Do the FLs get to wear pretty costumes?

For show recommendations if you click on my profile page I've organised my favourite kdramas/cdramas and anime into gifs so you can look for any categories that interest you. Honestly any drama I complete from beginning to end is a 10/10 for me. I'm very picky when it comes to shows too. Some favs are Empress Ki, My Dearest, Joy of Life, Goodbye My Princess, Story of Minglan, My Country the New Age, Mr. Queen, Flourished Peony etc. I'm a bit of a slow watcher too so it takes me a while to watch shows (which is why I'm picky in the first place as a drama I'll pick I will be watching for the next like two months)

Story of Minglan is so special to me because I loved that we got to know the characters as individual people. There is so much historical context going on, especially with the family dynamics and the fact that Minglan is the daughter of the concubine. Yes I loved the natural acting too. Their relationship was sweet but I was more interested in seeing Minglan' character development

For me "meaty plot" means that the story is about many different things rather than just romance being the driving factor. And these other parts of the story are treated with as much weight and depth as the romance (perhaps even more) For example in Love like the Galaxy the FL has a complex relationship with her family, parts of the story is actually a coming of age story. Or in Legend of Zang Hai and The Double there are different story arcs centered around revenge.

Oh ok I can understand that. At points I forgot the ML even had a wife 😂 but based on what you said I may check out The Rebel Princess one day...

Yes I do like a meaty plot. I think its my fault because I've just finished watching Empress Ki and that was a rollercoaster of emotions...I'll keep searching. I do love the aesthetics of this drama though

I'm trying to decide if I should watch this or not. I loved Story of Minglan. I don't mind romance but I much prefer a very meaty plot and interesting characters. Kind of like Minglan where yes there is romance but there is so much plot and character development too...

They'd have to change the story significantly

Yeah, I'm not a bingewatcher I like to take my time watching dramas. So usually a drama can take me 2 months to finish, its not about the destination its the journey. I'm not trying to watch as many dramas as possible, but picking dramas that resonate with me and have deep character development and storylines. Long dramas tend to have that also which is why I started watching cdramas in the first place!

How many episodes is it?

I used to watch a lot of BLs in like 2022, with Japanese BLs being my favourite actually (I love Cherry Magic and My Love Mix Up) but I kinda stopped watching because I found the plots to be too thin, like I just wanted more from the show than "here's two boys and they are going to fall in love," I really wanted to see complexity, beautiful cinematography, even relationships that are toxic. I'll definitely have a look at your list, I don't think I've watched any Taiwanese BLs. For Thai BLs I remember loving I told the sunset about you, but I tend to struggle with Thai BLs for some reason, I do like how they choose unique plots though.
