Pretty good first episode, I have to agree that one of strong points in this show is we'd never know how far Asumi will go. However I kinda felt missing link but so far I can't pinpoint what it is.

Agreed, it's the EPL not Serie A. Directness is the key of success because they hardly ever crammed as many players to clog the midfield from opponent's attack buildup like in Italy. Out-and-out strikers may prevail, or otherwise a goal poacher like Immobile of FC Torino can maximize Ozil's passes.

They need complete strikers like Suarez instead of giant, fox-in-the-box ones who can only lay the ball to other attackers. To rub salt on wound, the midfielders who suppose to come up forward to either break the stalemate or finish the ball laid by Giroud/Bendtner/Sanogo are not the free-roaming players.
Anyway, what's your overall second favorite? Beside Everton, I'm also fond of AS Roma, it's my first favorite football team

Then swap him over Stramaccioni of Inter or Allegri LOL. Just kidding, I thought the acquisition of Ozil would work, but ultimately it didn't. Perhaps he doesn't find target men as good as CR9 or Benzena. Anyway, Liverpool is on the verge of winning this season.

Can't insult Moyes though, too ungrateful to do so since he had done a lot in Everton. Perhaps it's Fergie's scheme to get rid of the Yankees out of MU (don't get me wrong, I'm not MU fan)

Finally I dare myself to watch the 1st episode without subtitles in a Japanese site, just as expected. So far so good and I love the OST a lot. Hope they keep the quality consistency all the way to the end

I can really recognize Iwai's style in this show: handheld camera-style cinematography, subtle back sound along the scenes, slice of life dialogues and narrations, and certain point-of-view. Totally reminds me of his past works like Lily Chow-Chow, Hana and Alice, Halfway, and Rainbow Song. I really like it, this is a kind of experimental dramas you won't find in primetime slots.

Anyway, I like the girl playing Midori, she's chubby yet cute

We're rivals then, I'm an Evertonian. Anyway, love to see that I'm not the only one in MDL who loves football (or soccer, as what American says :))
