I'm not bashing the other male leads, I love XL. TSJ would be willing to do the same for her as well though if he had the capability. He's not unreliable. Life is difficult and complicated. To simply write him off is a bit naive. All of the male leads are toxic (XL especially so, doesn't mean I don't love him lmao), but their feelings for her are genuine.
Totally fine for you to have a preference. As I said, I'd be fine with any of the MLs. I don't have a clear favorite. The story is so interesting because each of the characters are so compelling.

1. Fantastic. It's slow and steady though. The build up and tension though is always brought to a good resolution. No loose ends. 2. Their interactions are always interesting. They know each other for a very long time before they get together so it's not going to be heart fluttering flirting or anything like that for quite a while. There's a level of understanding between them though, even when they're at odds. 3. FL gets more screentime than the ML but they both get more after they get together. The large cast is due to them both having large families and family is a huge part of the drama. The first half has a lot of time dedicated to MingLan's family and her. 4. No breakups, happy couple:)

He literally was willing to die for her. I'm not saying I'm team TSJ, but I'm not mad she ends up with him. I honestly wouldn't be mad if she ended up with any of the male leads. They are all captivating in their own ways. Except Fenglong, but that's because we really haven't seen much of him and her interacting in a meaningful way.
lmaooo I mean, I'm not surprised. They gave them so many intimate scenes, I'd be shocked if she ended up with anyone else. If anything I thought she might end up alone or dead but definitely not with a different male lead.

Oh also if you're interested in a similar story where the FL is a villain who gets a second chance I'd recommend Scent of Time. Two major gripes people have is a lack of skinship and the last episode ,which is why it has a much lower rating than this one. I'm a person who loves skinship as much as the next person but it really didn't bother me not having any in that drama. And the last episode really only exists so that the time travel aspect was allowed to pass censorship, kind of like how they added the modern day scene at the beginning of this drama.
It's really good and it's unfortunate that it came out around the same time as this one. It even has Wang Xingyue in it too.

Zhao Lusi doesn't look 18 though either considering she's 25... The actresses don't need to look 18 in order to play a character that age. Vague 20-something looking actresses look just fine playing young roles and they act infinitely better than the majority of actual 18 year olds.
I haven't been this anxious for a drama in so long. At least it's not like Princess Agents and the drama is actually finished but I desperately need to see the end to this story.
I'm surprised how handsome Zhou Ye is as a man. The pictures really make her look like a beautiful young man. It probably won't translate as well on video because she is so small and pretty but the styling of the pictures really sell it.
