Not finished it but I LOVE this so much. Probably because I miss hanging out in cafe's and reading and working. Can't wait for COVID to finally be truly over so I can go back to my previous lifestyle.
I'm on episode 8 and the level of cringe I get with all the "patriotic" anti-japanese rhetoric is making me want to stop watching. If this continues throughout the episodes I may have to drop this.
I don't think I can finish watching this. The dialogue is soo dumb. Luo Jin does not fit his character, every scene is just super awkward because I keep thinking about how how old he is/looks. Allen Deng's character Zi Xu is the best thing about it, but it's not enough to keep me watching.
The good things about this BL are the chemistry between the ML's. While you can tell they're new actors, you can also see they really threw themselves at their roles and did pretty good. Natty's acting was probably the best here. The OST is good. I won't say that the plot and writing were bad, because they weren't, but there were a few things that didn't really make much sense if you thought about it, and there wasn't really any real depth to any of the relationships so it feels like they compensated for the lack of story by giving all the side characters 5-10 minutes each episode as filler. Overall it wasn't bad though.
So disheartening to read about everything that's happened. Such a powerful and memorable piece of BL history has been potentially tarnished by a single persons actions. I sincerely hope the producers and staff stick together and can put together with a new screen writer a season 2 that people will be happy with. It will mean so much to people who were inspired by the first season and it'd also mean a lot to people who've been subjected to harassment and abuse to not let these events stop them from continuing on.
