They clearly think it doesn't matter if the ML actor is 24 or 39. Many characters are not inherently a certain age, and they have plenty of time to do minor script adjustments if needed.

People bringing up the age gap as if the director who cast Kim Soo-hyun opposite noona Jun Ji-hyun in My Love from the Star would care. The fact is that lots of people love noona romances. Lee Chae-min is the same age as KSH was; they wouldn't cast him if they didn't think he could do this character justice.

The character is supposed to be childish, if that wasn't clear from the description and the two posters, so I think he's just perfect for this. They also look great together, I think.
I love space dramas and this has solid cinematography and decent VFX. But the script is SO awkward, which also makes the acting sort of insufferable, because it's really hard to sell some of these lines 😭
