My issue with some MDL users is that they're already complaining about ratings after just two episodes of a drama.…
Yeah, no point complaining about ratings after two episodes. The majority of users don't rate a drama until it's finished, so the rating early on is not representative, whether good or bad.
I think some viewers struggle with flawed characters regardless if they're ML or FL. I saw someone saying here yesterday that they don't like FL's attitude and I'm like ... lord in heaven, she lost her job after being ostrasized and saw her fiancé cheat and returned home exhausted and betrayed to her mom beating her and not listening to her. I think she's earned a bit of attitude!
So far this is just what I hoped Doctor Slump would be. The balance between comedy/melo is better here, and they're avoiding the cringy OTT comedy that especially Park Hyungsik was occasionally guilty of. I also find both the lead performances to be stronger here. The setup for the leads' difficulties (Seunghyo's struggling business and Seokryu finding a new passion) also looks like it'll give better payoffs. This is my first time seeing Jung Somin in something, and she's perfect. Melo king Jung Haein I already loved.
Very nice start on Netflix placing #4 globally with 365 points on Flixpatrol based on Top 10s worldwide! It made the Top 10 in 70 countries, including the US, the UK, Canada and other major markets.
Recent dramas in the same tvN slot this year: Queen of Tears Ep 1 - 5.9% Midnight Romance in Hagwon Ep 1 - 5.2% The Auditors Ep 1 - 3.5%
It's hard to tell from first episode rating whether a drama will take off or not. QOT obviously exploded, and Auditors ended up with a higher finale rating than Midnight Romance despite starting lower.
Perfect start. I can already tell this will be my first obsession since QOT. Gonna have to watch weekly to avoid spoilers, although I prefer to save up episodes or binge. Already invested in both couples. 😍
just because it’s an overused plot doesn’t mean it’s gonna be bad. leaving a hate comment before even seeing…
Usually people joke about the "childhood connection" trope when it feels tacked on in a drama where it's not really necessary at all. But that doesn't really apply to this drama, considering the childhood friendship is integral to the plot to the point where it's even called "mom's friend's son".
The worst thing about very popular airing dramas on here is that it always attracts haters. Get ready for a weekend full of "Am I the only one who found this super boring??" It never fails, no matter the drama.
Why do people hate him? I saw him in 2 cops, he is very talented and charismatic actor
Well clearly he would be the "breakout star" in a drama where the two leads were already stars. Who else would it be? If anything their star power elevated him.
But his fans speak of the drama as if the majority were rooting for KSH to get with Suzy, and that's just echo chamber nonsense. You see that their SLS-induced rating bombing has had overall little effect both here and on IMDb, despite hundreds of 1 star votes. Most people who watched the drama recognized that Suzy's character had no interest in him, and were happy with the leads getting together as expected.
As for why some dislike him, it's the consequence of the actions of some of his fans. As others have stated, both Suzy and NJH received a lot of harassment from them.

Lol most people other than his fans disliked him in Start-up and the whiny delusional stans who couldn’t handle that he was SML and that Suzy’s character never even liked him.
