Waiting for new episodes every week is a struggle, but I'm happy and grateful I get to spend eight weeks with this drama, because if all the episodes were out, I would have finished this in like two days 🤣
If you want a drama with a random murder mystery thrown in and other contrived plot elements to keep your attention, you should probably look elsewhere. Realistic dramas built around character dynamics don't need all of that. It's funny to say "nothing happened" when the episode titles and how they change throughout each episode literally spell it out for you.
I fear this perfect blend of melo and comedy was tailor-made just for me (and for Jung Hae-in). The romcom is romcoming and I'm laughing a lot, but it's also thoughtful, not too fast-paced, with lingering camera work and a vibe that makes you feel at home with the characters. It makes the world of the drama seem more real (some recent similar dramas lacked this kind of emotional realism for me).
What I keep noticing is the camera movement, it's not so dynamic and moving and like stays on the characters.…
It feels like the camera work is more melo somehow? Romcom direction can often be more frantic and obvious. Whatever it is, it works well and is grounding, as you say.
They took the title too seriously. Even the 2nd couple live next to each other now.So FL's ex is someone big from…
They actually decided on the English title of the drama very late. All the episodes were written and they had been filming for months. The Korean title is Mom's Friend's Son. That was the English working title. Then they changed it to Golden Boy, before finally ending up with Love Next Door. Which, as it turns out, is entirely perfect for these four people.
and what is more cringe in kdramas cliches is that ml didn't date anyone and still virgin after 10 years and fight…
Except that's not true. They've announced the casting of his ex-girlfriend. Clearly you are projecting some of your own issues on to the character here.
This is a tiny bit too violent for me at times, but it's worth it when the revenge is carried out. Really great main cast, and Lee Je-hoon leads it expertly. I'm not surprised it's been very successful in Korea.
All this crazy talk on here about ML's supposed virginity (where did that even come from), only for it to be confirmed that his ex-girlfriend will appear in an upcoming episode, played by Seo Ji-hye. 🤣
I'm surprised Netflix hasn't secured rights for the first season yet. I would have imagined that would be released on their platform a couple of months ahead of the new season premiering. Still time, I guess.
