Proportionality is a key principle in law, and what he's being put through for abusing prescription drugs for his own personal use simply is not proportionate to his crime. They don't need six trials when he has admitted wrongdoing and they have lab evidence, with months in between, calling one witness per trial, dragging it out as much as they can. The police have also continously been leaking information to the press, which is also against the law (and they do this all the time in high-profile cases, including leading up to Lee Sun-kyun's suicide).
Any fair and humane justice system would get on with it so that he can start serving his sentence, get the help and rehabilitation he needs, and then continue on with the rest of his life. Justice is not meant to be malicious.
Absolutely crazy to drag this out the way they are doing. A sixth (!) trial in June? For a simple personal-use only drug case? It's like they learned nothing from what happened to Lee Sun-kyun. Madness.
Seems rather premature after two episodes to suggest they know where this story will go with this. Suggesting fictional teachers (or doctors or whatever other important profession) can't make mistakes and act irrational because it's bad for their real-life counterparts also sounds quite silly to me.
Looks like both leads are confirmed to appear! It also seems like this won't be a weekend drama, which makes sense since youth-oriented dramas usually aren't (e.g. Twinkling Watermelon, Lovely Runner). (Source: https://x.com/moonliebe_/status/1789919140100137272)
I did not find the first half boring at all! I guess it may seem that way if you are unfamiliar with Korea's cutthroat…
Saying the first half was boring is actually insane to me because I was on the edge of my seat during the discussion between the FL and the school teacher. That was TENSE. And so well-written. It was thrilling and a perfect way to showcase the FL's character to viewers.
First episode wasn’t a let down at all. For people expecting something similar to One Spring Night and Something…
Lots of people in the comments seem unaware of what Ahn Pan-seok melodramas are like, so you get the typical "slow" and "boring" comments - very unsurprising.
The TV rating for the premiere was 5.2%, which is a solid start! Better than most of the recent tvN weekend dramas except Queen of Tears (5.9%). Usually Sunday ratings are higher, but time will tell.
Loving the writing so far. The argument with the (stupid) teacher in the teachers' lounge was so thrilling! Excellent start, introducing all the hagwon characters and the world of the drama expertly.
There were so many little things that stuck with me too, like how after she put the bandage on her shoulder and was feeling rough, she turned on the smiley teacher role when entering the room. Ahn Pan-seok is so great at little moments that are true to life. His dramas are refreshing.
I need a good replacement for Queen of Tears 😭please be good, I don’t care much for recycled storylines,…
This isn't going to be a fluffy feel-good drama, so I would adjust my expectations if I were you. It's going to be a realistic melodrama with complex human emotions, including arguments, societal expectations and pressure, workplace drama and more. This is not a romcom.
I'm probably a minority here. I forced myself to keep watching to episode 5. But FL just annoyed the crap out…
I mean she annoyed everyone with her loudness and attitude, but that was also the point. Kang-tae and Mun-young had very different ways of trying to live with their trauma. Hers made her appear unlikable and unsympathetic, which was why it was so rewarding to see her grow.
I really liked Moon Sang-min in Under the Queen's Umbrella but his character in this drama gave me the ick so bad that I'm not sure I like him as much anymore. Hopefully his next role will fix this🤣
Why do i feel like this drama doesn't get enough promotion?
It's an adult melodrama; this type of drama relies less on heavy promotion than more youth-oriented dramas. Adults who like this type of drama (the target demo) will find it regardless.
But they have definitely been doing promo, though. There was the tvN presscon the other day for one, and the actors have been posting billboards they've seen around Seoul. They've also been releasing still cuts, posters, teasers and BTS clips for weeks. The leads are also doing appearances on various programs, both on tv and on radio. All the usual stuff, in other words.
