I'm glad to see Better Days so highly rated and my all time fave raise the red lantern <3
Zhang Yi Mou's other 90s films are so underrated on here (ie. to live, ju dou) as well as the iconic Farewell My Concubine! they just don't do chinese cinema like the 90s anymore
Is this the same story as Ruyi's Royal Love In The Palace?
no, this drama zhen huan is considered the prequel. Ruyi continues the story with zhen huan as the empress dowager, who plays more of a supportive role
Is this similar to Empress of China? I really liked that one and looking for something with same vibe to watch…
Oh no it is different from the empress of china (with fan bingbing) this one is way better written, acted, etc. It's considered a masterpiece in china and tbh after watching zhen huan i find it difficult to get into other palace harem dramas bc this set the standard lol. You might want to give it a few more eps before you drop it! the ending is very satisfying
Absolutely LOVED this season of ä¹˜é£Žç ´æµª, the sisterhood and friendship was so strong this season and I loved how well all the jiejies got along. Honestly, the final line up and winning and losing isn't even important anymore because the biggest prize was all the new friends and sisters they made <3
Perhaps it is also because Mango made this season less competitive? Because s1-s2 were so intense and competitive. In comparison, this season might be my absolute fave line up and also final debut line up. The diverse talents, fun personalities, CPs and shipping, chemistry, performances, visuals... everyone did amazing and I really wonder how Mango will top this season! I hope we can see X Sister 3 on many more variety shows and performances!
watching it now and I LOVED THE FIRST EP! loved how they brought back ning jing and na ying, i love all t he vibes talents and personalities of the jiejies. LETS GO JIEJIES
I’m really confused by the Ren Xiaoxuan case. I don’t understand what was the relationship between the two…
I really liked this case! From my perspective, I think that xiaoxuan fell in love with someone who she idealized and thought was a boy in her head - 'he' was the only source of light in her life admist all the bullying, the teacher being a sleaze etc. With that said, part of me thinks she perhaps had a hunch that this 'boy' was a girl but didn't want to admit it, perhaps internalized homophobia and her not wanting to accept that she would fall in love with a girl? Bc they showed scenes of the masculine girl in the female locker rooms and other students knew that 'he' was actually a she, it's just xiaoxuan maybe didn't want to accept this
For the 'boy', I think they were a masculine lesbian who felt ostracized by the school bc how she presented herself. When she met xiaoxuan, she liked the idea of xiaoxuan crushing on her, that's why she followed her from afar etc... and she thought that xiaoxuan would accept her for who she is (as a woman). At the end ig she wanted to come clean by wearing a dress to confirm for xiao xuan that she's actually a girl not a boy. Considering all the bullying and negative things that happened in Xiaoxuan's life, I think mentally she couldn't accept this fact and was horrified that her image of this perfect 'boy' was broken, hence the suicide. it's such a sad story :(
SUCH a relaxing, fun and meaningful variety show with my fave childhood stars! loved watching them bond, do fun cultural activities and travel around china
Just finished ep 1 and absolutely LOVE the supportive mentors, the encouraging contestants, everyone is cheering each other on and there is a strong air of mutual support and solidarity rather than competition. lots of diverse dance styles and interesting personalities!
the best subs are on youtube, just look up empresses in the palace on youtube and there are subs to about ep 50 or so. afterwards you can watch the rest on dramacool :)
