It's been a long time since I've been able to finish a BL series, and this one manages to keep my attention until the end. Entertaining series with a unique feel. It definitely is not like other blockbuster-like BLs. The atmosphere is really amazing. You can feel that the director has a vision. This series also provokes strong reactions from the viewers. No one is indifferent to it...Just that fact should tell you something about the show. Completely addictive, even for the complainers who were complaining since episode 1 till episode 12 😂😂😂

yes, it's rushed towards the end. I think the main problem is still the pace, some events need more screen time than others. But other than that it's a good series with a unique feel.
Finally having time to watch episode 11. It’s a pivotal turning point where BJ/LJ relationship is re-evaluated, bringing previous key scenes together with coherence in fact. This episode highlights the series as a journey through the lives of two complex, flawed, yet compelling characters who cannot help but gravitate toward each other. This character-driven approach is what makes the show truly special. Because of its originality, it might not be for everyone, but I found this installment to be still quite solid and very interesting. I'm sad this series is ending soon and I'm hoping to see more projects with all the team.
There’s something different with that series. Not everything will be resolved but does it need to be resolved ? Take it like an odd and fascinating journey through the lives of P’Jane and Little Jane. I hope we’ll see another project with the main leads. They are adressing what has basically cost them their first relationship. So of course their "second chance" will be confronted to those problems again, if they have not been yet "resolved". The impression of going in a circle is not exactly true. You need to come back to those problems (they don't magically disappear with "time") at some point. Those "problems" have been : - characters like Jet (adressed in ep 10 with his character growth) and Dan (in ep 11?)... - the favor business (P'Jane seeing the consequences of his actions there...) - the lack of communication (P'Jane not telling LJ about him helping Jet, for exemple, resolved with the piano scene or P'Jane recognizing the consequences of his "help") etc. I'm too tired to list everything but you get the idea. And it also goes both way. With finding each other their dreams.
People always forget that. But there is always a limitation when adapting a novel into a series, the first being the budget. It is much more expensive to make a series than to write a novel. Everything has a price : - visual effects, set construction, filming locations, - casting and cast costs (then less subplots and characters...) - time, etc. (which leads to a faster pace, or a condensed one...)
Other limitations are simply the lack of inner monologues (which is easy to have in a novel) and the necessity to keep engagement (with twists and cliffhangers).
Necessarily you have to re-invent the story, while taking into account those realities. That's why you just cannot (and will never) expect a copy of the book.

- weaponizing the past : When a rival weaponizes real, painful history (past breakup), it's a way to force the characters to confront their actual flaws and past mistakes. - forcing character growth in the present : it won't be enough for Big Jane to say "hey remember the good memory !". Because Dan (that's the purpose of the character) will say, "Remember how much he hurt you?" This forces BJ to win back LJ through his actions right now. - earning the happy ending : and I guess we'll get that happy ending, right ? It's like winning through an emotional chess game. It feels more rewarding than having no stakes at all.
This series is brutal and raw. But that's why make it so interesting in fact. The amnesia trope in this case is used as a psychological tool...If it is handled well, the series will reach his conclusion in such an intense way ! So I don't think it comes from nowhere, narratively speaking. It's like an ultimate test before they really get back together, adressing their past and their flaws.

What people are complaining about is literally in the novel though...They complain that the adaptation is not like the perfect copy of the novel, and when they DO follow the novel, they complain again. If you don't like that trope, why not complain about the novel too ?
