We should all chill. It's just ok to have a different POV or different sentiments towards series. You can also…
I don't think it is a matter of different POVs but of being fair, otherwise it is too easy. The problem is that it is an opinion and not a fact. An opinion can be wrong, biaised, well it is flawed...Those who are the first to criticize everything should be able to accept the idea that their comments can be criticized too ? It is not even a matter of liking or not liking the series ! However the double standards...
But if I want to be really coherent, If you want better series in the future, try to bring feedback instead of criticism, IF you had some expertise in the area of film-making (which is not the case for a lot of people here lol). Criticism was never constructive anyways...it only devalues the work you've done and the people who've worked for it...Feedback is constructive because it is positive and try to bring solution...It is so easy to always point at what is wrong..but it is a lot MORE difficult to say how you would have done things and bring encouragement...
That's the main problem I have with comments who tend to criticize...The people doing this are not even aware of it....and when they are criticized, the don't feel good...Of course ! So how do you think artists doing their work feel when they have those criticism ? It brings nothing, just negative feelings...
Very on-point view :) wait for the titans to attack! :)
And why can't people saying "constructive" criticism generally cannot see that their own comment is also open to criticism ? If you criticize (and that's ok), be prepared to be criticized too...
Er....you forgot the part where Hin was so depressed because his novel receives a lot of criticism. I'm sure this…
But why can't I be defensive about Nubsib :( ? Poor guy. He's attacked from everywhere. Someone has to defend him sometimes :( I'm getting too protective too (and -gasp- CONTROLLING!) And Gene :( Maybe at the end of the series he will say I AM FREE ! I'm leaaaving (in those two episodes left)... (let me write my NC scenes with Nubsib lol)
okay so i think that the last episode was.................. interesting.the family part was great and it was just…
Er....you forgot the part where Hin was so depressed because his novel receives a lot of criticism. I'm sure this part was meaningful for a lot of people here who are always seeking constructive criticism (about NC scenes).
Also we totally understand that We-Tv subs are top-quality so that a lot of innuendo, subtle meaning are accurately translated from Thai language. That's why the morale is only : write NC scenes because it sells, at episode 10. They totally say that in Thai.
Why not just revolt against your boss ? Wait...Why am I still working for my boss ? Such a stupid idea to make a living and making something of my life. Wait ? But you can be free ! But, child, life is not so easy (I say this with my quaking voice).
And Nubsib is just getting worse : manipulative, controlling, evil-doer in everything. Just by breathing, he is evil. I'm sure he's planning his next kidnapping while I'm writing this.
But for sure I love the show. One line explaining why I love the show. Ten lines explaining why I don't.
Some people are weird here lol Next time they will complain about why Gene's shirt is always pink (but maybe the pink shirt is an evil gift from serial killer Nubsib) . This is funny...
Why would you be disappointed with that though ? Of course, the problem of toxic fandom and toxic money-greedy…
"But yeah, it'd seem a bit off if they've pledged to stand together to face the parents and then just crumble at the first time of hardship at work. "
I disagree. The workplace can be very toxic and difficult to live....Some people feel depressed and stressed because of hard work conditions ( harassment, burn-out, etc.)....I don't think it is just "crumbling". I think you're downplaying this aspect a little...So it will be an important hardship for any couple...
Also the cursed ep.11 break-up will be work-related It is not something you often find in Thai BL...and as I say, why should we feel bother by that ? It is like saying : cursed ep 1 is always setting the scene. It makes no sense for me since a series has to follow some kind of progression. Of course at the beginning you'll have the setting leading then toward the crisis and the conflict at the end. For a couple and a love story, the crisis is of course often a break-up...
Why would you be disappointed with that though ? Of course, the problem of toxic fandom and toxic money-greedy…
But if it happens in episode 11 so what ? Their relationship faces hardship and they grow even more stronger after the conflict...The series shows that...so you have some kind of coherent progression ? Of course you'll find more conflict and tension towards the end as the plot needs to lead to something like a crisis with the resolution as a conclusion (whether the resolution is good or bad). What makes this plot different is that you have many crisis in between : - Gene discovering Nubsib was lying to him - Gene getting into a relationship and the question of coming out - and now the next crisis will be work-related and fandom-related. It is VERY coherent. It follows the growth of Gene (AND Nubsib) as characters : their feelings for each other but also their personal dream. Gene is getting more confident in himself. He has the courage to face his parents. He will need to be strong in order to achieve his dream as a writer and as a lover.
This series gets more disappointing as it proceeds. I still think that episode 1 is miles better than the proceeding…
Of course episode 9 which portrays a vivid and realistic coming out scene, and the drunk scene in episode 4 where Nubsib basically shows why consent is important...All of those are VERY disappointing.... Of course lol
I swear if they break up next episode I will be so disappointed, so far I feel like it hasn't been too formulaic…
Why would you be disappointed with that though ? Of course, the problem of toxic fandom and toxic money-greedy industry etc. will bring some consequences to their love life...otherwise what's the point of this story ?
Well, don't watch it anymore ? But I don't really understand the purpose of your comment.
"The amount of positive reviews baffled me". Why should you be baffled ? Because it is not the worst show ever...I've seen way worse...Sure it has flaws (nothing is perfect) but still very enjoyable to watch (despite the annoying product placements you usually find in Thai series lol). The cinematography is quite beautiful, the acting very decent (sometimes Kao's acting or Tum's acting seem a little awkward but this is still quite watchable), the plot is quite ok (for a BL lol) and some scenes are very emotional and beautifully shot, the chemistry feels very natural and lovely, you have a good message and some social awareness...
Personally speaking, the qualities of the show still outshine its flaws for me...Let's hope it'll be still the case for the two last episodes.
The problem is not liking the show, the problem is being fair with the criticism. And some people here are not fair with this series...and sometimes completely wrong...
Well, don't watch it anymore ? But I don't really understand the purpose of your comment.
But why the need to ask people if you still have to watch the show or not ? I mean...it's only you who can decide ? Sorry but I still don't understand this comment. It makes no sense for me. Also this comment section is not full with positive comments (and since the beginning)...sure they are more positive ones nowadays but you have a good amount of negative and nitpicking ones too...So that's why I'm wondering what you're really trying to achieve there (along with some other reviewers). Maybe you are honest but I'm doubtful...

Also do you think the scenes with the family accepting them and their relationship are also "fillers" ?

Of course lol
I'm recommending this track especially for all of those here who cannot help but be negative. Please, be more positive in your life lol
