I understand the comment of jonq120873 differently ? Rape and non-consensual sex belongs to the narrative of the BL genre. Why ? Because the readers or fans/viewers of the genre are toxic ? That's why you find toxic themes in those works. Well, that's how I understand the comment of jonq120873 but maybe I'm wrong.
Are toxic love relationships only in BL series?Whatever straight thai lacorn I watched the main female character…
Yes, marital rape does exist too. Rape is often done by someone who's close to you (husband, boyfriend, friend, family), rarely from a stranger you meet in the street. And maybe we can do both : talk about consent in series and fight for the recognition of marital rape ? However this talk about consent seems to irritate more the viewers and fans of the genre and make them turn on you. I'm not sure this talk is quite effective.

I'm not sure BL is yaoi ? But apparently you have many other sub-genres too : shonen-ai, tanbi, etc. I'm a little lost with all those terms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yaoi#Etymology_and_terminology) Its origin are still quite unclear for me. There is a lot of confusion on the terms apparently. The origins seem more complicated than that and are directly linked to Japan history : with the practices of shudo and kagema, samurai history (where you can find the origin of the seme/uke role but those roles are not so definitive as many people seem to think apparently) ? Apparently, European literature (gothic novels) has a role too ? Then you have the culture of dojinshi, etc. Also rape in yaoi narrative ? For sure.
But what I find interesting in that wikipedia page : "Thorn theorizes that depictions of tragedy and abuse in yaoi exist to allow the audience "to come to terms in some way with their own experiences of abuse."[128]"
Apparently non-consensual sex is also quite common too in bara, that is to say gay manga aimed for men : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bara_(genre) : "BDSM[22] and non-consensual sex[23] are common themes in gay manga, as well as stories based on relationships structured around age, status, or power dynamics. Often, the older or more senior character uses the younger or subordinate character for sexual purposes"
Thanks for your point of view. I'm not sure because in the West you too have the very popular 50 shades of grey. It is not "BL" and it is not in the "East" but you can also find those same problematic tropes. It seems quite widespread.
Not really sure why its rubbing so many ppl on the wrong side, but I am really liking it as of now. Its not the…
I wish comment sections of series were like sharing a common point of interest....but no...it's like a trial now. It has become so toxic.
Every show has it good and bad aspects. Problem is they only talk about the negative ones (when they are not blatantly saying irrelevant criticism).
A constructive criticism is fair, always balanced and...well-argued. It also means you have some kind of expertise (they generally don't have lol). Otherwise it is just their feelings. But feelings are just feelings. A show can be good even if you don't like it....just like I don't like opera and find it boring even if opera has a great quality of music.
This season 2 seems to be more problematic than the first. And sometimes I wonder : why are shows depicting toxic relationships so popular (Addicted, TharnType, etc.) ?
Saying a scene is wrong and being indignant because of the issue of consent unfortunately won't make it stop. Because you still have those tropes everywhere. The good question is : why does people like this ?
PS : I'm not shaming people liking this but I really want to know their reasons.
The postings regarding the use of the word "trash" are still there. I also tried to provide an example of the…
That was an interesting comment for sure. But apparently you're still ignoring the point I've made earlier. I was just commenting on ONE argument of the comment of that guy. Every other subject was not mentioned by me but by all of you.
But why do you still want to talk to me about subjects I was not even talking about ?
Sorry but I won't lose my time with people who are dishonest. Good bye.
The point I was trying to make :
"If you tell people you should not steal but you're also at the same time leaving the supermarket without paying the bread you've taken..."
Aren't you just an hypocrit ?
An hypocrit who has the freedom of speech lol but still an hypocrit with a null argument....
And I wasn't even talking about freedom of speech. I was talking about rhetorics, validity of arguments and reasoning...
So it is not my subject. And you still don't want to understand.
It's really really good for now. It has everything. Fortunately I don't take much into account the comments on…
Well too bad I guess lol Personally, I really like it. But thai comedy is like that (and I've seen worse in other shows). Maybe you could try the first two episodes ? Generally I watch three episodes before making my mind.
The commentary on this is so mixed that I can't get an idea if it's good or bad or so bad it's good.... But I'm…

- good and natural acting - a show with many layers (and irony) : there are many levels of interpretation etc. - endearing supportive characters - a badass female character - very good chemistry between the main couple, - beautiful shots - good soundtrack, etc. - Gene is absolutely adorable and cute lol, etc.
However, the genre is rom-com for this series. You have some criticizing of the BL industry but it is not the main objective. So if it's not a genre you usually like (like horror, science-fiction etc.), maybe you won't like it ?
Not sure how I feel about this series so far. It's uneven and there are more "bad" things than "good" so far.…
I personally think Kao has quite good expressive eyes. His acting doesn't bother me and I find it quite natural ? And it's the first time I've seen him acting. I guess it is a matter of preference.
As for the BL tropes, well it is a BL romcom more than a BL parody. If people watch this expecting more, they will be disappointed...Still it is a very nice and enjoyable series....However, this series has many layers which are very interesting to see and analyze :
I find it a little sad that people are always talking about Gene and Nubsib relationships but not other themes mentioned in the show (and there are a lot more!).
You have other subjects mentioned and not only the usual BL tropes : ambition, masks, dream and desire vs the wish to succeed, etc. So I disagree when you seem to think this series is not that original...It is not revolutionary for sure but you have themes and some kind of irony you don't find in other BLs....that doesn't mean other BLS cannot be interesting too though.
Also it is one the rarest series where one male lead always asks the other if he's ok with what he's doing...You don't see this often in other BLs shows...Does that mean Nubsib is free of flaws ? Of course not. He's still a little manipulative...but all of the characters are flawed so...
Besides, I've seen in your drama list you've watched Tharn Type the series. So...
What do you think about the tropes in Tharn Type ?
The postings regarding the use of the word "trash" are still there. I also tried to provide an example of the…
Not really....That's not the point of my previous comment....How is this so complicated for some of you to understand ? WHEN YOU SAY : ""Respectfully, you can have any opinion on the show you like, but I'd offer that it's not your place to tell people who have critiques of the series what they should or should not personally do. "
You're doing the same thing as those people telling other people what to do or not ?
Gosh I wasn't even talking about if someone is entitled to their opinion or not ??????!!!!
I was talking about the kind of argument he uses ????!!!!
IS IT THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND ?!!!
You are not credible when you criticize those people when you basically do the same thing as those people ?!!!
But I'll stop here replying to my initial comment....it wasn't even the point I was trying to make and all of you are talking about another subject I didn't even mention...
I'll wait before watching this. I've quite loved the first season but...2nd season seems really...disturbing. Even if I know Sam and Yu are quite good actors, I'm not sure their "relationship" they portray on screen can be salvable if they really go that destructive way.
But what I find interesting in that wikipedia page :
