Even as a child Ah-Jin was manipulative... her blackmailing Ji-Sun like that and even manipulating Jun-Seo, and THEN attempting suicide on top of it?! INSANE! She's such a twisted character... but for some reason, I can't help but root for her right now.
Her dad needs to die ASAP! I'm sick of him (Bae Soo-Bin is doing an amazing job playing him, he's an actor that I love.) Jae-Oh... I feel so much pity for him. I definitely think his dad's death was an accident, but still... damn. I really feel bad for Jun-Seo, who's been manipulated by Ah-Jin his whole life.
Episode 2 provides a really good insight into Ah-Jin's psyche... she wasn't BORN as a sociopath, but made that way. A lot of people aren't understanding this. Her father was horrific (to say the least) and her mother was abusive. Her stepmother planned to pimp her out/sell her (for CP/CSA or trafficking, not sure which one.) Does this excuse her actions? Probably not, but it explains a lot.
GREAT SHOW so far, it's a little slow for me so far (some scenes feel a bit drawn out, but this part of my perspective is changing though.) The directing/cinematography is great. The violence at times makes me uncomfortable so I have to skip a few scenes, but other than that, everything else is fine. The BGM/OST? Lovely. (I wish this drama had previews, though! I'm so used to seeing them in k-dramas! ðŸ˜)
The acting performances are solid. This is my first time seeing Kim Yoo-Jung in a starring role, and if she doesn't win awards for this? I'm gonna be pissed. Kim Young-Dae is also incredible as Jun-Seo. I have never been a fan of him as an actor (I think it was because I hated him in Penthouse lol and the Seok-Hun/Seok-Hun x Rona fans made me LIVID!!!!), but he's killing it here. I'm not gonna deny that. Kim Do-Hoon (how funny is it that they all have the same last name? 😂) is genuinely fun to watch as Jae-Oh, he immediately pissed me off (this is why I should find new actors in dramas, I couldn't STAND HIM in Escape of the Seven lmao), but I came to understand him more eventually.
I've taken a break for now. I'll continue episode 3 tomorrow/later on, but my current rating is 9.5/10. Just a brief analysis here. Gonna add more later.
I'm so far behind, but... I LOVED episode 1. The amount of twists and revelations made my jaw drop, but Ah-Jin's master plan to take down Sung-Hee and destroy her... flawless. The way she got Jun-Seo (Seok-Hun from The Penthouse!) and Jae-Oh to help her? Beautiful. This is like a weird combination of Death Note, The Penthouse, and Queen of Ambition. I love it!
The writer didn't even hesitate, this reminds me of Penthouse where we saw a teenager die in the first 5-10 minutes. The level of immediate violence just surprised me, but I'll keep watching.
Episode 48 was... tough. Definitely an emotional rollercoaster lol the performances were stellar!
As much as I wanted KB to die, part of me did feel bad- specifically for MH and JW. JW's acting in this episode was great, I gotta give her kudos for that. I didn't mind how KB died because other characters in daily dramas have died from falls before, so I'm not disappointed by it. Now- HR... I feel like I'm at the point where I'm starting to despise her now. 1) She's being willfully ignorant, 2) she is NOT the saint she pretends to be, and I'm getting tired of her acting like she's this tragic, flawless victim. NO YOU ARE NOT, HYE-RA. YOU ARE NOT INNOCENT AND YOU WILL NEVER BE! Stop throwing rocks and hiding from the glass breaking! You literally committed manslaughter!
YC just irritated me even more... can you figure out what you really want? First you wanna be the real YC again, then you wanna be SA, then you want SH- like, come on. Spare me the bullshit. 🙄 Regarding SH, like I said, dude is the real ML at this point. He does seem to genuinely love JW (it doesn't come off as obsessive... for now. I got my eye on him though 👀) even though he's understandably upset by JW lying to him. I want SH and JW to work together and get through things together. And be honest with each other, too. I think JW has feelings for him too, more than she *thinks* she does. I've started noticing it, and I hope she acts on it soon. (Like I said, the stepsibling aspect DOES ick me out a little.)
HR pushing away JW does NOTHING. Literally nothing... it just makes everything much worse. This is the manipulative victim act BS I'm talking about. I hate it so much. And YC can go to hell for being amused by KB's death like that. NS will never learn... all she cares about is money. She's true to herself, at least. 😂 That video is like Pandora's Box or the golden apple of discord... it's gonna cause so much chaos soon!
I can't wait to see what JW will do now! How will she fight back? How ruthless is she gonna be? How is she gonna gain enough power to fight back against the villains? I wonder how everything's gonna go down! So exciting and intriguing!
That last part is straight-up incorrect lol. I get that you hate JW, but she doesn't give a damn about losing…
Oh no 😔 don't leave me or else I'm gonna come back 5 years later... with a mole on my face! 😂 (Don't worry, I won't. You're not as unhinged as InspectorWacko!)
Let's see if I am! But sometimes the alias/fake rich identity trope makes the show even more interesting. Or better lol as much as I love the twists and revelations, sometimes this drama drags just a little bit, but I know that it's supposed to.
That last part is straight-up incorrect lol. I get that you hate JW, but she doesn't give a damn about losing…
We do, but I 100% mixed some of your comments up with the Inspector person (who blocked me because he's... well. He's an odd person, without me being too mean.
That last part is straight-up incorrect lol. I get that you hate JW, but she doesn't give a damn about losing…
Tae-Seok is Chairman Jin (aka Chairman Two-Face, as I love calling him 😂)
Usually I watch dramas with a good plot/actors I know. But if the drama is trash I'm more than willing to drop it lol. And tbh I don't like a good chunk of the characters here except for like... 4? Nan-Suk (the only consistent one), Jung-Won (anti-heroine), the chef (he's... eerie), and Nan-Suk's secretary/assistant (hilarious.)
Idk if you like Se-Hun or his sister Se-Mi, but everyone's free to like or dislike someone here. Besides I think I DEFINITELY mixed up others' comments with yours, so that's on moi (me.) 👀
Not really Ju. I guess Jang, Jung, or Han would work. For some reason NamuWiki mentioned one of JW's aliases being Alice??? Never heard of that, they just be lying sometimes lol
That last part is straight-up incorrect lol. I get that you hate JW, but she doesn't give a damn about losing…
She definitely should've been less impulsive and I agree with you on that, lying only made the mess bigger. Areum, you said her revenge was her throwing tantrums (which I think is valid) cuz HR abandoned her...
I'm just saying that sometimes your opinions are confusing, it's hard to tell what you think of her without it coming off as baseless hate sometimes. You're entitled to that, as long as you're not attacking the actress. Which you're NOT doing, and that is a GOOD thing.
No, no, the Tae-Seok/marriage part was complete sarcasm. It wasn't a serious statement, and I'm sorry if I made it sound like you genuinely meant that (nobody should stay in a toxic marriage, btw.)
What I mean is... Se-Hun and Jung-Won SHOULD be together. However, they should be honest with each other too. And they need to work together. The only big problems they have are: the Ju siblings (mainly Young-Chae 😡), and the fact that they're step-siblings thanks to Hye-Ra.
I think everything I say is relevant or relates to the drama (which is what we talk about and what the comment section is about.) I don't usually disagree with your comments, it's just a few. I'm glad I usually type on my laptop cuz my hands would hurt if I wrote this on my phone. 😂

WHY DID I JUST SEE A MAN KILL HIS WIFE IN THE FIRST 3 MINUTES???? WTF?!

Even with the Jennifer Garner alias, this writer is a beast. I'm pretty sure she'll make it work lol
My apologies!

Now that I think about, a lesbian makjang drama would be fire 🔥 I love that concept. Mine, another drama, had an FL that was a lesbian.
