Yes, our Sifeng suffers a lot. Cheng Yi deserves an award for acting out all those blood spitting scenes. But…
For sure... all those misunderstandings and pressure can be frustrating to watch. But the overall storyline is amazing and interesting! I don't think I ever got bored while watching this drama. And Cheng Yi is indeed a great actor. I'm glad that this drama helped him achieve more popularity and the main roles that he deserves.

started watching after putting it off for having too many episodes. However, I am undecided to continue or not.…
If you're asking when she'll become physically stronger and have powers, then.... never.

However, she does become more emotionally mature and understanding of her feelings on love during the mortal realm arc (ep 19-34) and the last episodes (47-63).

I feel like everyone who has watched this drama either loves it or hates it lmao. Probably cause of all the misunderstandings and certain characters making dumb mistakes. You can continue to see if it's your cup of tea, but if you really don't like it then don't force yourself.

But before you drop it! I highly recommend you check out the mortal realm arc. It's when Jinmi and Xufeng basically fall in love with each other again, but as mortals instead of deities. Many people have said this is their favorite part and prefer it over the drama's main plot. Here, Jinmi is A LOT more mature. Xufeng is basically the same lol.

Happy ending?
It's happy.

But... I'll tell you right now that it's not the happy ending that will make you feel satisfied. Seriously. Some people have even described it as more of an open ending rather than happy.

This drama should've been just a movie cause there are so many goddamn FILLERSSS.

Also, the first two episodes are the only interesting episodes. It all went downhill after that - not just the plot but the main leads' character development as well.

This show was so good.

And I say "was" because of that freaking ending. What was the point of having him suffer for so long just for him to forget everything??? That's basically a whole new person now! It's like drama makers don't know how to properly end the show smh.

If I just ignore that, then overall it's an excellent drama. Love the chemistry between the leads.

I’ve been watching this slowly for the past few weeks, finally reached ep. 36 where… A Lot Of Things Happen,…
Yes, our Sifeng suffers a lot. Cheng Yi deserves an award for acting out all those blood spitting scenes. But don't panic because the ending is happy! In fact, I thought it was a pretty satisfying ending compared to many other historical cdramas that'd only show the leads for like the VERY last 5 mins of the last episode lol.

Personally for me modern romance drama shouldn’t be more than 25, max 30 episodes cause they add so much fillers…
I agree. Isn't the modern romance template basically meet each other, fall in love, date, problem, solution, then end? What could be so important in the story for the producers to stretch out the drama this long?

A cdrama with 25 eps is nearly equivalent to a typical kdrama. Even kdramas already have fillers, so imagine a cdrama with 40 eps. 😬

Approximately
1 cdrama ep = 45 mins but excluding the op and end --> 40 mins
1 kdrama ep = 70 mins

25 cdrama eps * 40 mins / 70 mins = 14.3 kdrama eps
30 cdrama eps * 40 mins / 70 mins = 17.1 kdrama eps
35 cdrama eps * 40 mins / 70 mins = 20.0 kdrama eps
40 cdrama eps * 40 mins / 70 mins = 22.9 kdrama eps

I have a feeling this will air later in the year since Tan Jianci already has I Miss You, Lost You Forever S2, and Love Has Fireworks coming up that were filmed before this one.

I just started watching. Does anyone know whether the main lead voice is their real voice - dub by themself or…
FL / Gu Sheng's talking voice is done by her actress Zhou Ye, but her singing voice is done by Le Xiao Tao.

ML / Mo Qing Cheng's talking and singing voice are both done by his actor Tan Jian Ci.

Omg the screenwriter and director is Guo Jing Ming?? No wonder.... The vibes, hair styles, and costumes of this drama reminded me a lot of The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity movie.

@songHmmmm. I'm not sure I agree with half of that sentiment, but I do agree about that assessment of XL. And…
It's too bad that Tong Hua doesn't give us clear answers, so we the readers/viewers have to interpret a lot of aspects ourselves 😭 but yep, I believe that XY choosing the safe option is actually true.

Title Lost You Forever Spoiler
But the writer said that XY got what she wanted the most
Yes, it is true love.

The way I see it, XY and XL's love is mainly built on understanding. Their relationship started out rocky but as they continued to confide in each other, they realized how similar they were. This led to them being able to understand and, of course, fall in love with each other.

Meanwhile, XY and Jing's love is mainly built on fears of abandonment. The unhealthy co-dependency. Jing is afraid of losing XY, and XY is afraid of being abandoned. That is why at the end of the story, XY is WILLING to be with and wait for Jing. After all, why wouldn't she? This poor girl spent years trying to find someone who wouldn't abandon her (at least willingly). Now that she's found him, she's not gonna let go of him so easily!

I noticed that we seem to have different definitions for true love. Maybe that's why it's hard for us to agree with each other.

You think true love is the one who XY pursues and shows explicit affection for. I, on the other hand, think true love is the one who XY fell in love with genuinely and wished to be with the most.

I'll tell you right now: if XY was able to, she'd choose XL, not Jing. How do I know? Because XY wished she could go back in time to "save" XL so he could be a free FFB forever. Don't forget, he's also the only person she kept in her mirror! What do you think this says about XY's feelings? If she only loves Jing as you say, then why does she keep thinking about another man?

SGQ: [referring to the food she cooked] Don't mind if they look bad.
GYZ: They indeed look bad.

SGQ: Young Master Shangjue, help yourself. There's food in Yuanzhi didi's bowl.
GYZ: Don't call me Yuanzhi didi (little brother). Only my elder brother can call me didi. Aren't you polite? Then call me Young Master Yuanzhi from now on.
GSJ: After we get married, you can call him didi.

Haha they're so cute 🤣 I wanna see more of this trio. They have such different personalities yet are hilarious when interacting with each other.

Title Lost You Forever Spoiler
But the writer said that XY got what she wanted the most
While everyone is free to have their own interpretations, it's important to keep in mind that LYF isn't your typical basic romance. You can already tell based on the fact that the FL (XY) and ML (CX) don't end up together. Hell, she never even saw him as a romantic partner in the first place!

In my opinion, LYF is a complex story about XY's journey to finding the one person who can stay with her forever. This person doesn't have to be someone she truly loves. Just as long as you choose her over anything — literally — and never abandon her, then congratulations! You're a candidate! That's why there are four male leads ➜ four possible candidates. (Off topic but as I was typing this, I realized that LYF could be adapted into a video game. I'd play it!)

How did I come to that conclusion? First, take note of these key quotes from XY:

"I just want someone to keep me company. Not someone I want to marry – I want someone I can live with, share happiness and sorrow with, fight and make up, I just don’t want to talk to myself anymore.”

"People think I am kind but really I’m just weak. When I’m with those who are weaker than me, I feel like I am in control and am needed so I won’t be abandoned. That is when I feel safe."

"Unless there is a man who, no matter faced with any choice, will always pick me first, who will never abandon me no matter what reason, then I will be willing to spend the rest of my life with him."

Also this conversation after XY discovered that Jing was willing to DIE with her:

"Jing said, 'No, I see you as more important than my life. Xiao Yao, you resented me for saying I wasn’t good enough for you yet I refused to let go. Actually, I know that you can go on just fine without me. I know that Fang Fang Bei is more suitable for you. But I can’t let you go, as long as I am alive then I can’t! I’m sorry, I’m sorry…..'

Xiao Yao clamped her hands over his mouth. 'You idiot! All I want is someone who will hold me tightly and never abandon me no matter what!' Xiao Yao’s forehead was pressed against Jing’s forehead. 'You can’t let me go, I really like that!'"

I wanna clarify that I'm not denying XY's love for Jing. I'm just trying to say that Jing isn't her true love and desire like some people have been claiming. XY only LEARNED to love him — obviously cause he was the only candidate who met all of her requirements. @Tyamn1, those quotes you provided were from chapters where XY had already learned to love Jing.

The one who XY truly loved (without even trying) and wished to be with the most from the beginning was XL. This snake demon who's enemies with her family clearly doesn't meet her ideal person, so XY should completely disregard him, don't you think? Yet from time to time, she finds herself thinking about and missing him even when she already has Jing. Of course she'll never admit it though because she's afraid of what will happen: he'll choose Chenrong over her (not the first choice) and die with them (abandon her) AND her family will be disappointed in her for falling in love with their enemy. That's why XY wished he could be "a free Fangfeng Bei. Owing no one favors or gratitude. Bearing no responsibility, morality, or duty."

Given all this info, doesn't it mean that whoever XY ends up with isn't necessarily the one she truly loves and desires? Remember, she even almost ended up with Fenglong. 💀

XY's actress Yang Zi once said that we shouldn't focus on who XY truly loves. Instead, focus on what worked out and what didn't. Oh! She also said that if XL had confessed, the ending would be different. But wait.... didn't you guys say that XY only loves and wants Jing? How could the ending be different? If XL confessed, then all XY needs to do is reject it because she doesn't love him back, only Jing, right?
