@nathsketch I figured lmao. But for Xiang Liu, I don't think a 9567584763783936356838494761005 is exaggerating at all 🤣 (Also... I see what you did there with those last 4 numbers hmm)
I love Yang Zi so I tried to give this a shot, even though I don't typically watch modern dramas nowadays. Welp..... guess who got bored within the first 10 minutes LOL.
If it was just a movie, then I'd be able to endure it. But 32 episodes of this vibe? Maybe I'll try again when I chance upon an interesting clip and the Eng subs are more accurate. (I watched it on kisskh, for those looking for a decent translation).
In the meantime, I'm going back to my historical dramas. Also waiting for Lost You Forever S2, Flourished Peony, and the Golden Hairpin!
Finally watching after putting it on hold for so long cuz I was (still am lmao) too obsessed with Lost You Forever.
Only watched 2 eps so far but I can already tell Shangguan Qian will be my favorite after seeing her put on a crying act when Yun Wei Shan almost made all hell break loose. My girl sly as hell and I love it lol. These type of characters make the show more interesting. If YWS wants to manipulate people into thinking she's innocent, then she needs to learn from SGQ!
Also, the costumes and cinematography are immaculate. I especially love Gong Ziyu/Zhang Linghe's and Gong Yuanzhi/Tian Jia Rui's styling. They look so finee.
The ratings went up, yay! 8.6 --> 8.7 Well deserved for our amazing LYF cast. (To whoever brought the rating down back to 8.6, sleep with one eye open. Y'all have no tasteee)
Given that, according to Wikipedia, "Chinese Paladin 2Â was not filmed because the producers felt that the third game had a much stronger story than the second."
No confirmed date yet :( Some rumors said in February, others said in the summer.
Don't get your hopes up too high... Assume it'll be in the summer (like late July) since that'll be a year from when season 1 is aired and the regulation is lifted.
Agree with your comments. It seemed like a historical drama parody at first lol but I loved it!Interesting how…
@Sukorra "it was so emotionally intense when the elder sister died that it pulled me all the way in. Even when Coriander "rebelled" I felt her angst and was all in." Definitely! I think I'm just salty cuz I really loved Qingkui. My girl didn't deserve that type of end ðŸ˜
"I also felt like the series could have ended at the human emperor's palace when they were leaving. " Never thought about this but now that you said it... this should've been the ending fr. So many terrible things started happening after they bid goodbyes to their father. If they ended there, The Starry Love would've remained an overall light-hearted and fun drama.
Watched for Yang Zi. I also liked Cheng Yi from Love and Redemption but I couldn't feel any chemistry between both of them. Maybe it's just a me issue since everyone else is saying the opposite :')
For anyone thinking of watching this drama, it's very cliche with tropes we've already seen in many historical cdramas. We got the innocent and kind-hearted FL who falls harddd for our ML, the tsundere ML who of course can't express his love for FL because of duties, the sweet SML who loves FL and would do anything for her, the FL's twin who may or may not be jealous of her sister, the annoying female character who's obsessed with ML and keeps trying to come in between our couple and wreack havoc, and the heavenly emperor who constantly reminds ML of his duties. Clearly, a lot of misunderstandings happen (heavy on the whole "I hurt you because I love you and want to protect you" ordeal).
I personally think this show was too draggy with problems being created for the sake of drama, and could've been shortened to 45 episodes max. And there are so many characters to keep track of. Just when you thought all the major side characters were revealed, a new one suddenly pops out!
But everybody's taste is different so don't let my comment deter you from watching :D The best part of this drama in my opinion is ep 19 to 58, starting from the mortal arc where our ML and FL go to the mortal realm (memories removed) and slowly fall in love with each other once again.
I forgot all about this drama. I can't even remember the last episode I watched. from the comments it turned out…
Agree with your comments. It seemed like a historical drama parody at first lol but I loved it!
Interesting how my ratings differ from yours, though. I love the beginning and 3 soul shards arc but started losing interest after Shaodian Youqin came back to life and especially after Qingkui died :(
Another round of everyone fighting over their favorite male lead just proves how great of a story Tong Hua wrote. My first time watching a reverse harem drama has really been an interesting experience. 😅
I'm actually curious, does anyone know if there are other dramas (doesn't have to be exclusively Chinese) with as much discussion comments as LYF? I'm talking 1k+ comments. Or is our complex LYF a special case 🥹
From what I've seen, majority of dramas have discussions with only like... 0-30 comments. Sometimes there aren't even any discussion posts, even for the most popular dramas LOL
update: I see that "Till the End of the Moon" has one discussion post with 1.5k+ comments. Any more?
Acting of female lead was worst but everything else awesome...she was very hard to sit through and ruined the…
Tbh rather than the actress herself, I blame the script and the way her character was written. The FL does basically nothing except exist for the ML to have a love line with. That's why many people said she's like a self-insert character. When given such a character like that, I'm not sure if even good acting could save it because there's nothing to act lol.
Bai Xiaoyu and Wang Jinjin look so cute. I'm excited! Seems like it'll be my favorite genre - the nostalgic one that will make you smile and cry at the same time.

In case you didn't know, the Chinese Paladin dramas are based off the game franchise The Legend of Sword and Fairy (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Sword_and_Fairy), so the characters and plot aren't (entirely) original works.
Given that, according to Wikipedia, "Chinese Paladin 2Â was not filmed because the producers felt that the third game had a much stronger story than the second."

It hasn't been officially confirmed by Tencent or the LYF production team. But there's "evidence" proving the 21 eps rumor is true, like this:
