CYY explained everything to GJZ because she’s the one person he fully trusts. He knows how fearless and clever she is, so they plan ahead for every possibility — especially since he knows he could end up in prison and lose all power to act. I am happy about this open discussion and trust...!
Peyang Prefecture was suffering from drought, so the Ministry of Revenue sent 200,000 kg of relief grain. But someone switched the rice with bran. Since CYY oversees the ministry, the blame fell on him. The FL’s father, the director of storage, also knew nothing about it. It turned out Sun Shitao, CYY’s colleague, forged his seal and disappeared.
Sun Shitao had been placed in the ministry by Wang Xuanfan — Fu Hailian’s sly subordinate, the same man who forced GJZ to drink three penalty toasts.
In truth, this was all part of Fu Hailian’s scheme to bring down Fan Chuan, with CYY being used as a pawn. It may also be tied to CYY rejecting their marriage proposal, meaning he refused to take sides.
Because the approvals carried the FL father’s seal, he and all the male family members were imprisoned. Only the father was supposed to be arrested, but Zhang Ling deliberately included every male relative just to spite Ye Xian. Ye Xian told her he will take care of them in prison.
FL, her sister and rest of the ladies sit together and go through all the papers of her dad and found out a letter Sun Shitao wrote to their father requesting a promotion which he rejected and SS threw tea on it.
When questioned in court, CYY resigned and accepted that it was his negligence, without defending himself. He had already noticed documents carrying Wang Xuanfan’s seal and realized his own master might be behind the plot, so he chose silence and imprisonment instead.
Later, Wang Xuanfan reported to Fu Hailian that CYY never argued his case. Fu Hailian immediately understood it was because CYY had realized who was truly behind everything.
Then news arrived that a young woman named Gu had filed a public complaint in court, saying her father had been wrongly imprisoned. Fu Hailian asked if she was the same girl who once competed with CYY in archery.”

Plus I like Gala Zhang as an actor... dont want to be a looser SML... bcoz he deserve much more credit here... being such a protective brother/cousin and there can be such relation... dont want everything to see in heart shapes... lol!!
