yeah they definitely forgot to address that part which was weird. I was even convinced he didn’t do it.
"ZL killing FTN’s father" she realizes it the next morning when she hears people talking about how, despite the heavy rain, the fire completely destroyed everything. She also realizes that ZL never came back home that night.

She is really good at putting the pieces together and figuring things out from the smallest details! 😄

Father killed her mother??? Yes Yake told her in EP 32, She said, Secretary Yu schemed to keep ZL in three months mourning.. so Madam Yu instigated your father to poison your mother.. Make sure you know who your true enemy is....!!

They don't give YJX a redemption arc. He doesn't deserve one. But I don't want them to kill him either - that…
Yes... they were a big hit..

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
I like all of what we heard after the last court session when Mr. Yu is talking about ZL to his brown robed relative…
EP 31: After General Mo, everyone stay away from ZL.... Then Yu tells him that now that he is promoted as the Emperor’s trusted man, he can kill whoever he wants—but he also has to kill people he **doesn’t** want to kill. And that is so true, because ZL now realised has to do what the Emperor orders him to do. He has no choice.

From the preview I think he is beginning to feel that he may have to abandon everyone around him… and honestly, I think he is going to go crazy and broken! 😭

But in Blossom... he so negative, scheming !! Then in Blossom of Power he was a nice guy... so I was wondering what character he will be here... !!

Cool… enjoy your trip! 😊 I sometimes pause, rewind, and read the subtitles again because the translation isn’t always very clear. In fact, I think Viki has some of the best translators.

Anyway, to sum it up, I’ve watched up to Episode 31 as well. **“Keeping a secret to save someone is something I don’t believe in.”** But it looks like ZL is going to face the same dilemma again with General Mo’s case, which is absolutely heartbreaking for ZL—and very, very depressing for us to watch.

I knew General Mo’s ending was going to be bad because he used his thumbprint and seal. But I still kept trying to think, *Was there really no way ZL could have saved him?* ZL was completely broken. It was terribly sad to see him like that.

Then Yu tells him that now that he is promoted as the Emperor’s trusted man, he can kill whoever he wants—but he also has to kill people he **doesn’t** want to kill. And that is so true, because ZL now realised has to do what the Emperor orders him to do. He has no choice.

So I think he is beginning to feel that he may have to abandon everyone around him… and honestly, I think he is going to go crazy! 😭

The actor who played General Mo was also brutally executed in *Blossom*, even though he was such a good character there too—just like in this drama. Why do they keep doing this to him? 😂

And the preview for Episode 32 looks even worse… but then again, that’s what previews are for—to keep us on our toes!! 😄

When ZL got ready to disclose Yu GeLao's embezzlement accounts.. YG shamelessly told the emperor in court, infront of everyone, he want to resign from court bcoz of his son's actions, that Yu JingXiu once spoiled ZL's wife's reputation just to get out a marriage proposal.... thats why ZL is dead against him...
This stalled the investigation report reveal... meanwhile Yu family put their head together and the mother came up with another plan

Madam Wu (who works with Yu Lady), gave Madam Wang some jade gift and told she will invest money for the NorthWest since they will need money to rebuild.. Madam Wang gets carried away and bring in General Mo to sign the document... which he refuses saying its a bribe... but you know how loud and forceful Madam Wang is she drags him inside and finally he put his thumbprint and seal...

Next day Yu Faction presented that in the court saying.. he demanded the money... from people.. and he was put in Jail.. no one could do anything.. bcoz his thumbprint and seal were there.. ZL is all for the North West front... but he never did anything against the till now...

from the preview it looks like emperor might sacrifice General Mo...
It is a strong drama.. i might rewatch once its over.. to understand better....!!

Ok.. this is my take.

When the Emperor assigned ZL to investigate the salt embezzlement, ZL acted quickly and confiscated all the relevant accounts records without wasting any time.

Yu GeLao panicked because he needed to keep ZL occupied long enough to cover up his own tracks and conceal the embezzlement. So, he approached FTN’s father and told him, in a roundabout way, that since his daughter had taken her mother’s body, he should now “fill the coffin” — essentially implying that he should get rid of his own wife, who was one of FTN and ZL’s strongest supporters.

At first, FTN’s father was taken aback and said, “But she is my wife…”

Yu GeLao then hinted that the position of Minister of Revenue would soon become vacant, implying that he would consider FTN’s father for the position if he carried out the deed.

Everyone thought she had died of natural causes, but we, as spectators, knew otherwise.

Then Yu GeLao threatened ZL, saying, “Young men should know when to stop. Otherwise, your family will suffer.”

ZL asked what he meant, and YG replied, “If you hadn’t been so eager to check the accounts, do you think your mother-in-law would have died so suddenly? Today, you are willing to part with your mother-in-law. Tomorrow, who else will you be willing to part with?”

ZL then investigated and discovered that FTN’s father had purchased some poisonous herbs from a medicine shop.

This seriously frightened ZL. He began to suspect that FTN’s father was so obsessed with position and power that he might even harm FTN.

He couldn’t bring himself to tell FTN what he had discovered. He knew that if she learned that her own father had killed her mother, she would be devastated. she was already bedridden, consumed by sorrow, So, he kept the truth from her and killed her father himself.

General Mo is another story altogether. I don’t know if you’ve seen that part yet. I’ll explain it separately.

why did you say that ZL?.... He killed her father bcoz he poisoned her mother, plus Yu father threatened u lost mother next can be anyone... which means.. this stupid father will do any of his bid, so he was scared for his wife's safety. Plus he accepted her as his mother...and promised to take care...
Only mistake is he didnt tell her... bcoz he feels she will be destroyed feeling guilty of not taking care of her...

I think she suspected something, too. The timing was just too perfect.
Normally FTN is pretty smart in putting two and two together, but right now her mind is totally messed up, plus she doesnt know what Fu father told ML, esp the threat. But I was happy when his buddies wanted him to tell FTN why ML killed him....! its like yea soon someone will tell her... !!

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
I just started watching Road to Splendor. I really like Ryan Ding but I'm having trouble getting into this one.…
Ep 1 - 3 is a slow introduction of FL and her family background, Then the salt Smuggler ML and their encounter and life forward...but from Ep 4, it changes completely...

FL is from noble aristocratic family... lived a pampered life.. like when common people were struggling to get salt... they scattered fine salt across the courtyard to simulate snow...
but with scheming people around.. spoiled her reputation and family poixoned her and left her to die... but ML saved her.... so they are on the run from EP4... life changes... Once FL comes on to center stage... the story takes off.....

If you have patience/interest to continue.. its a very good drama ....but even I was kinda lost in that first 3 episodes... and also didnt understand at that time....

Rofl! reading your comments.... I come here to vent at times..so I can understand everyone gettin upset about the emperor's reaction and also General Mo getting whipped.... !!

I am almost nearing the end of Ep 28 and came here to relieve my tension... so be prepared... many more sinister things are going to turn up in the next two episodes... those next day preview at the end of each episode keeps us tensed everytime...

But i can tell you there is a conversation between FTY and Madam Yu... right at the beginning of ep 28 I really really enjoyed... she really gives it her...!
