No, you make sense of what you said. Lhong got his punishment as you described but it's not only about entertainment and fictional stories here. What he did is a crime and should also be judged as that. Of course the people around him can't/don't want to proceed further with legal implications and that's fair if this is how they feel.

It's a "war" of cultures and upbringing at the end. I have seen people judge lakorn or Kdramas because of the abuse storylines towards the FL and as something seen by many viewers, especially women, it can reproduce harmful stereotypes about love and relationships.

This is a big discussion that involves a lot of elements I am not familiar with since I don't live in any of these countries and just read info online, with divided views in many topics. At the end, it's up to the new generation to produce something better regarding real life and fictional stories.

You are totally right in everything you said about Tar's case. It's a very sensitive subject and I know telling so many people again what happened, have others see the tape would add to his trauma. I just hope at least in dramas they would start adding psychotherapy about cases like this. It would normalize and show that you don't have to deal with it alone and out there there are people who can help you easy your pain and go through normal life a bit better.

Tbh, you have a valid point about Lhong. The way I thought about it was how he acted with malice towards Tar and later Type, because of his jealousy and obsession. And it's not like he had a fight with Tar or lied to Tharn about him: he literally paid guys to rape an underage person and caused him massive trauma that will affect him for the rest of his life. While I am on the side of rehabilitation and I can accept that he is also mentally ill, that still doesn't excuse that he was fully aware of his actions and only cried not because of guilt, but because Tharn found out. Sadly, cases like him are many because from I what I got he has a trauma regarding his family but was never acknowledged. Still, he committed a crime and has to be punished about it but apparently MAME thought that that tearful confrontation was a good excuse.

What can I say about this other than Masterpiece. I didn't give it a 10 because sometimes I was getting bored and so many episodes is too much for me, but overall it was great: from direction, to acting, the chemistry between the main leads, cinematography, everything! I know that due to China's laws about homosexuality they couldn't show CFT/SXR explicit romance but their soulmate bonding and anyone who can read subtlety, can see that they loved each other and that's on that. I have found a translation of the novel online, so I am going to give it a read when I have time.

Overall this was my second good experience with Chinese dramas (first is "Addicted" although I dropped the novel). Sadly, I tried with MDZS (novel, anime, drama) but it just didn't click. I really wish I could like it because I think the story is interesting but sometimes things are not going as we want and I don't want to pressure myself further. As for other Chinese dramas, they have too many episodes and this prevents me to follow them. I don't have the attention span and patience I once did, so it runs out pretty quickly lol Anyways, this was great!

Ahh this was the first BL I watched live. I was excited for this every week and it was good, but after episode 9 my anticipation kinda dropped (mostly due to real life bc of my MA thesis). There were some technical stuff that could help fix the story, eg editing and of course I understand that due to covid-19, the Saifah/Zon storyline couldn't progress, so I am glad to know they will air some episodes of them. I didn't really care about the rest of the couples but really my heart still belongs to Fighter/Tutor. Saint and Zee did an amazing job (their chemistry is fire lol) and although I disagree with some of the drama that happened, I like the overall story!

While I enjoyed this one a lot, the stuff about sexual assault/abuse left a really bad taste. I really hope BL and in general romance stories stop including them from now on. It adds nothing to romance other than cheap drama since it barely gets acknowledged in a proper way. And I wish stories in East Asia/SEA would start including characters going to therapy. I know it's a huge wish because of their culture, but when I see cases like Type and Tar, my heart cries for them. Also, Lhong should have been in jail after that. It's not just a case of lying or betraying; what he did was literally a crime.

This was my first Thai BL and although I enjoyed it, I found the acting flat and the production on the average scale. After rewatching it, I liked it more and I came to appreciate the characters and the effort of the staff. It's one of my fav BL stories out there and although S2 wasn't as good, I enjoy the whole thing and sometimes rewatch some episodes when I am in the mood.

I became a fan of zombies with TWD and although I dropped that after S5 (because S5 is my limit with series), I can definitely say that "Kingdom" is my favourite zombie show. I like historical/political dramas so the mix with a zombie situation is definitely an interesting one, but it can fall flat if the writer/s are not careful enough. S1 was more suspenseful than S2 but S2 gave me what I craved: more stressful situations, political games, a great female villain with an equal great female hero, a prince who is not alone but has people to support him and of course great action scenes - the one in the frozen lake took my breath, holy sh*t. I heard that the writer is up to write even 10 seasons and while this is a huge no from me, I wish we could get S3 next year but it seems unlikely from the reports I have read so I am fine with a prequel. More "Kingdom" is always great!

I am not sure I can find the right words to praise this story. I went in expecting nothing but a slow, slice-of-life, dramatic story and I got one of the most kind, heartwarming and powerful portrayals of human relationships. From episode 10 onwards, it was a crying-fest at the end of each episode and in episode 16 (last one), I couldn't stop my tears from falling most of the time. I finished the series taking some valuable lessons with me and I will definitely rewatch it in the future.

P.S. Romantic love is good and strong but kindness and love, finding peace with yourself, can destroy and create worlds. Finding souls around you that stay by your side, even if you are miles apart, is a connection that is very precious and we should try to hold onto them.

Literally my first K-drama and I am so glad it was this series to introduce me to the wonderful world of mystery/detective/thriller Korean stories on TV. The tension, agony, tears and smiles were all there, making me feel empathy for the MCs and the other unfortunate side-characters. I have always loved time-related stories and "Signal" just made this love even bigger. Although I wouldn't be opposed to a S2, I am perfectly fine with the way it ended and I think it fits the characters and the story.

A masterpiece. Everything from the direction up to the lighting was superb. Park Chan Wook defined himself as one my favourite film directors with this movie, after watching his Vengeance Trilogy and The Snowpiercer (although I have mixed feelings about the last one). Both Kim Min Hee and Kim Tae Ri were excellent. I loved the mixture of mystery, romance, sex and violence in the story although I get that the sex parts are not for everyone but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all - at least not as much as I did while watching BITWC. I always come back once in a while to rewatch this movie, I love it so much!

Just finished this and what an experience. The story, acting, direction, production, costumes etc. were top stuff. I love historical dramas and this was great. Although it was kinda dragging at times/was slow, it didn't affect my enjoyment of the show and that ENDING omg I am leaning towards a happy ending for them because they deserve it. SXR had a great character arc and his relationship with CFT shinned throughout it. Soulmates is what we call these kind of people. Really good show :)

I just finished watching this and not gonna lie, I am mad. Woo Kyung still speaks and let's her step mom live in the house she killed her sister. Of course she says that can't forgive her but this is insane. I believe all of us would have taken our child and cut ties after something so horrible. I dunno what the writer/s were thinking. Not to mention I would have killed her if she did same to me. Your stepmom abused your sibling and buried them in your house, your dad agreeing to it as well and pulling a theater on you for 30 years. What the f*ck...

Also, I want to bring up the "who am I to judge someone?" because are you serious? When abuse happens but the justice system and the police fails to protect you and your child, someone has to step up. Oh yeah, poor policemen who feel bad that they have to handcuff the victims of abuse after killing their abusers. Yeah, it must be difficult for them. But someone out there tried to help and free those people from their hell but hey it goes against the law, so we have to catch you even if he beat you and your child for years because how dare your take the precious gift of life from someone who makes you want to die every day of your life.

They should have let the Red Cry plotline leak into the press, so it would bring more nuisance into the story. For the characters, Soo Yeoung got the short stick of it; she looked interesting at first but as the plot kept focusing on the other three main characters, she faded into a secondary character. I dunno why the writer/s made her one of the mains when she never really did anything, which is a shame. Wasted character.

On the bright side, I like how the story focused on the abused children. It reminds me how many are going through hell every day and it just reinforces my belief that most people shouldn't become parents; don't do it out of social pressure or because you think it might be cute or for whatever other selfish reason. Having a child, biological/adopted/foster, is a huge responsibility and changes your whole life. Of course I understand that in SK there is an issue because abortion is illegal in most cases and this can add more to the issue of abused children due their parents not being able to terminate the pregnancy if they want to.

Anyways, the drama was good but some of the ethics behind it sucked. Justice and police are there to not protect but to keep in peace the society under the laws it works. Maybe that's why the system is horrible; because it's working as it's supposed to, not how it should be.

If I feel it's an attack to the LGBTQ+ community, then I think it is because that's how I feel. And everyone is rightful to feel how they want about it, regardless of their sexual orientation. As people we have different filters to judge the world.

Why should a BL role be a challenge for them? I get the "challenge" part for the acting process as in to grow as an artist, but why should the BL role be "challenging" to go back to it again? This should apply for the majority of roles they take; either challenging or because they enjoy the character or the story. And yeah, no that excuse I have heard "I will play again only if X is my partner" is stupid.

I am not criticizing his life but the stuff he goes out and says in public. Am I not allowed to do that?

As I said, I get the fear of typecasting. I have no problem with them wanting new roles and become better but some of you all here don't get what the issue: saying that for them to grow as an actor they need to step out of BL and do more challenging roles. Do you see the problem now?

Of course it's not only BL and Lakorn, there is horror, fantasy, adventure etc. as any other ent. industry out there. I believe every actor/actress should play in most of these genres and change from MC to the villain, to the best friend to the hacker etc. It looks such an exciting job but it comes with the pros and cons as any other.

I respect and admire the director because he had to deal with a lot of shit back in S1 but I am not really a fan of his direction creativity, if I can say it like this.

I haven't venture outside of Thai BL yet but I am planning to. I still have "He is coming to me" on hold due to studies, but yes Singto is great.
