I hope it isn't too confusing to follow, I tried to make it as neat as possible, but after the third time MDL deleted the page, I started to lose it a little
Each character (especially the protagonists) have a specific colour palette to their outfits (ex. Zhuo Yichen and the colour blue, Wen Xiao and the colours white and pale pink) and colours in cultures always represent something (ex. white is purity and mourning), so I'd open a new topic in the discussions page to present them in details and compare them to the characters personalities and stories.
I have a question....In Chang Huang and original goddesses story when fei was trying to escape the goddess already…
Most likely a plot hole. I love this drama, but its writing isn't the most consistent and coherent, so there are quite a few plot holes scattered in there.
Not sure if this is a plot hole or has an actual explanation. I'm on episode 22 now and Wen Xiao went into the…
I'm pretty late to give an answer and you probably received much more interesting points of view, considering how long this discussion has gotten, but I believe it's merely a plot hole. I watched nearly all of GJM works and I notice this "pattern" where he discards coherence and rules within the story to write an impactful scene or make something he wants to happen... happen. His aim is more towards beauty rather than substance and you got many many examples of this in FoF. This happens especially when nearing the last episodes and during the last episodes themselves. So, in my opinion at least, this instance was a plot hole as well. Unless time doesn't work on you if you are the one activating the sun dial (but wouldn't she still need to eat and drink?). They could have had Ying Lei wait in the sun dial, as you already suggested, or simply plant it, exit and wait a couple of hours, then go back in (I don't remember whether it was necessary for one to stay inside), but neither these options would have had the same emotional and visual impact than Wen Xiao waiting 300 years.
I don't think I've ever agreed more with a FoF review until I read yours. If the writing had been better and more consistent, with a solid plot and a better use of the OST, this would have truly been a masterpiece and a milestone of the genre.
Are the tears in FoF real or artificial? Sometimes they come down perfectly and continuously. I do not doubt the…
I know actors often use the help of "menthol sticks" and eye drops (among other methods, but I'm not well versed in this area) to tear up, but I believe it also depends on how emotional the scene at play is. But if they are single tears (especially the pretty and perfect kind as seen in this drama), there is a high chance they are induced by the make-up team. But perhaps someone knows more or has seen bts and will tell you in more detail.
I am sorry Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao shippers but I can't help but feel so much tension between Yuanzhou and Yichen,…
I'll never understand how this drama even went through censorship and passed it. I guess those scenes can pass for purely platonic, but at the same time they are not exactly subtle and at times I had to do a double check to make sure I didn't just imagine it or read the subtitles wrong.
Yes and no. There is a "main couple", but it's more centered around bromance/sismance and just friendship and found family in general. The ML and FL act like an old married couple and they share their lovely moments, but don't go in expecting load of romantic and fluffy scenes (also, there are no kisses) It's more platonic than anything else
This comment section needs a shot of good vibes, so let me share a couple of cool and gorgeous edits I collected (we'll probably need to open a discussion topic to keep them all in one place and let more people see them, because these content creators are so talented and deserve all the love for their wonderful works)
Very busy comment section I see! with many old and new campers joining us in our daily 'can't move on parties'.…
I know, right? Although lately it has been pretty quiet, I often check this page out for its discussion section and the all in all lovely vibe of the people who remained. I was pretty taken aback by the sudden rise in comments, especially when I saw what those comments were. I really didn't miss the hate and toxicity. Can we go back to the nice comments and mature sharing of opinions?
Very high level of directing and artistic take by GJMHe told the actors he will will make them at their prettiest…
I wouldn't say I found the same level of directing and cinematography as GJM's works so far, but his style is very unique and only HIS, so I doubt we'll ever find similar ones in other directors and producers. I'd suggest you his two short movies (Wuliang and Painted Skin - the GJM edition) and his the Yin-Yang Master -Dream of Eternity to find his usual aesthetic and cinematography, similar outfits (support actors) and make-up/hairstyles as his dramas. Of course, My Journey to You is a must watch, if you haven't already. I loved it more than Fangs of Fortune, writing and plot wise. Then, if you are into dark/gloomy aesthetics and dark colour palettes, I'd recommend you these dramas (some of them have a decent/good cinematography as well, others... not so much): Mysterious Lotus Casebook In Blossom The Double Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty Ancient Detective Joy of Life
Not FoF related, sorry, it's just a silly curiosity of mine, but I don't know where else to ask and at least I know here there are some kind people with more knowledge of how MDL works. So, what exactly is the difference between a friend and a follower on this site? Or is there no difference at all? I see they are two separated things and it's been bugging me for quite some time. Sorry again, since it's not FoF related.

I didn't even know there were general discussions.
I really need to figure this site out a little more.
Thank you for taking the time to explain!
