It was genuinely a surprise to see Tomita Miu, always liked her in Switched. Unrelated to this drama but I wish…
The thing that I found ridiculous in this episode was that there's these three suspects in this episode that literally ADMIT to contributing to the murder / messing with the crime scene and yet they all face no repercussions?? How do the detectives and police (or writer in this case) ignore that lol? That baffled me.
It was genuinely a surprise to see Tomita Miu, always liked her in Switched. Unrelated to this drama but I wish she gets more main roles and stops getting typecasted playing as the typical "fat" girl because she's got potential and is nailing every role she's had so far.
Maybe it's because this mystery/case was rather mediocre but I feel like I didn’t get to immerse in the mysteries as a viewer, there were short scenes of them interrogating three suspects and the next thing you know, they're already unraveling the mystery. Again I don't know if it's because it's a short episode or this mystery/case was mediocre but I think they could've easily dragged it out and made this a 1 hour episode. Speaking of interrogating the suspects, I found one thing to be ridiculous that was never addressed in the first episode but I'll reply to this comment below as it's a spoiler.
I'm hoping this scenario of Anna being the only one solving the cases and helping out Kazama who's really incompetent as a detective on what to say isn't a trend in the future episodes because this shtick will get old quick imo (not to mention Kazama gets to steal all the credit for it too)
While the police characters are goofy on purpose, they're literally useless XD They're just there piggybacking on the detective's deductions.
I know I sound a bit harsh but this episode wasn't doing it for me. The tease for the main mystery at the end seems serious so hoping they'll start diving in deep into the mystery at some point. So far, this drama/episode was a light-watch, with fancy soundtracks and some neat cinematography and this has only been the first episode so I'll stick around, I'm sure this drama will get better as the show goes on.
The movie version of "Taiyou no Ko" starring Yagira Yuuya, Arimura Kasumi & Miura Haruma will be shown in cinemas from 6 Aug 2021; the drama SP version was first shown on NHK in 2020 https://natalie.mu/eiga/news/424348
This is definitely better than the garbage anime adaptation by Netflix
Japan fans weren't disappointed because in Japan, they never promoted it as an anime but instead, they promoted it as an "animated comic" so fans knew what to expect beforehand. Sadly in the US/main trailer, Netflix promoted it as an anime SMH.
They're giving Tsuboi the "out for revenge" arc like Hibiki had and had him kill Dr. Omaezaki, I actually liked his character :(
as for Hibiki & Kurumi in the House of Hope shelter, looks like it's only beginning so I don't have much to say tho I am interested to see where this is going... especially with Min-jun in the ep3 preview
This was pretty good. The only part that was really bad was Aguni: he was a fuking psycho killer but at the end…
I think you misunderstood, his actions aren't forgiven just because he accidentally shot his friend and Arisu even addresses this, to not look down on those who are still living and to continue living.
Kira is so over the top in episode 2 I love it lol, him continuing to yell out "wait" and flapping his wings XD Ren must be having a blast playing this character. Another great episode with a mix of cute moments, laughter, and socially-relevant issues.
