This show isn't a masterpiece by any means yet... i'm going to hold out my judgement for that until the end but it certainly isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. Some characters are written in a certain way that they seem inconsistent but the actors are doing a good job with what they have. JHI's acting of course leaves no doubt, he's fantastic in every role he has. I'm a bit disappointed with some of the characters because the actors playing them have way more potential and i hope the writers make it worth my time in the end. Given that this is Kim Ji soo's first show as a ML, i think she's doing above average. I've seen many actors do far worse for a number of series before growing and even some well known ones are worse. There is room for improvement but she has a lot of potential. The story isn't really all that special tbh, it will come down to how the writers and actors make it work.
The love triangle between the leads was a complex triangle until the very end. Alot of people are unhappy with…
I particularly liked that FL ended up with GJC because it was fitting. The FL was empathetic in both lifetimes and saw him beyond the perception of society. You can say she was pure constantly. The ML's love for her was equally pure and selfless. Even with his quirks, there was an innocence to him. He wanted her, but he was also willing to give up everything for her. For all that he suffered, her love was a reward for him. Also What he did wrong was either an accident and in one case, after he'd been pushed over the edge. With the kind of abuse and trauma he grew up with, his mind should have been broken beyond repair but he held on and it was loving her that saved him. So i'm satisfied with the ending. I just they had more scenes as a couple.
The love triangle between the leads was a complex triangle until the very end. Alot of people are unhappy with it but i think it was actually well done because emotions aren't simple and one dimensional. The FL was divided between two people and two lifetimes - it made absolute sense for her to be so divided about them. By the end of it, most pieces fell into place which i was happy about. Although it was a slow sort drama and i wish there was a bit more interaction between the leads, it was still done quite well.
Isn't the story based on notes from a guy who escaped NK's prison camp? I'm sort of confused. I get why SK's are offended because ML's shown to be NK that the FL mistook as a political protestor which is the reason ANSP used to undermine the democratic movement and hold students prisoner. From what i understand though, this is a different story. Too me it seems like it's about a guy who's ended up on the wrong side of the border during very turbulent times and is just trying to survive. That's actually happened in a lot of neighbouring countries in conflict. And as for writers choosing a controversial time, well if the actual guy escaped during this time, it makes sense to place him in that era. And i don't see the writers romanticising the government or the forces at all. They were shown as corrupt and brutal. I mean to me it seems like they're trying to find an actual NK guy so that they they can find an excuse to legitimise their brutality even though the guy actually has nothing to do with NK's agenda. Either way, it feels like it's too early to comment on the story. They've barely covered the intro. I'm going to give a few more episodes before i come to a conclusion.
Story aside though, the actors are doing a good job so far. I found the sneaking in dorms and trying to gather all the items secretly, hilarious. I remember similar stuff happening when i was in university. It's a good show of contrast. As in even in the most turbulent times, there are people who are also going through the most mundane issues, being their age.
Unfortunately or fortunately, depends on how you see it, even in the worst times, not everyone experiences the same things. Some people experiences evil of unspeakable kind and some are completely left untouched.
What are you talking about, it isn't just BP fans that are watching the show and the fans that are watching it don't necessarily agree with the it just because they're fans. Generalising much, sheesh.
Fucking stupid nation. I hope Netflix somehow buys the show and lets Koreans choke with their hatred...this is…
i can understand why people are mad. Since we're just a few decades ahead of the 80s, there are many people who actually witnessed that history unveil and were personally affected by it. Many likely have family who were impacted by it too so it becomes very personal for them. However, in terms of this show, i think its way too soon for anyone to give it hate or pass a judgement. Two episodes literally tell you nothing about how the story is going to unfold.
They had plenty of time to correct the script [because knetz were against airing of this since March] but still…
If they still continued with it, they likely had something in mind knowing how sensitive their society is. It was also approved later on so clearly there must be something to make it reasonable. I think viewers should wait for a few more episodes before giving their judgement, 2 episodes basically tell nothing.
This show was a RIDE. Loved every bit of it. It was perfect in every way - the plot, characters, actors, flow and length. Never a dull moment and nothing that was dragged very much. Never imagined i'd end up liking this pairing so much but they worked so well and have to be two of my top favourite characters this year.
I hope it doesn't disappoint. I think people have really high expectations because of the JHI and Jisoo, i hope it lives up to them. I really want this to be one worth remembering not just because who the leads are but for the story and performance too.
Are there still people out there, who are watching this, because it's based on a "Novoland"-tale, who are watching…
I do like the actor's having watched their performances before but i wouldn't watch it if i wasn't interested in the story. I've watched all the other Novoland so i was intrigued and i like the genre overall. The fan wars are annoying AF. Don't understand why are they even sprouting their nonsense here, when it has nothing to do with the show's story arc.
Nah, i'm still gonna watch. I like YM and WC too much to not too. That temptation is much higher. I do hope they change the ending in someway. We've got enough tragedy going around. #fingerscrossed
I have a bad feeling they're gonna stick to the book and we're gonna have another sad ending on our hands. I can't remember any of YM's period shows that had a happy ending besides Eternal Love. I have a feeling i'm gonna have to watch it afterwards just to feel better. I'm okay with angst but tragic endings... sighs. I'm tempted not to watch
The plot had the same potential as because this is my first life with fantastic actors but the show just turned into a mess like no other. What a disappointment. The blame almost solely falls on shitty writing/ production.
I think they'll still have an overseas shoot. But they're almost done.
Oversees part is Afghanistan and US in the book I believe, I'm not sure where they were planning to shoot the former, likely the Middle East or North Africa but who knows. As for the US shoots, they mostly used Vancouver or Montreal disguised as the US but i'm not sure how much of the drama needs to be shot in the west. In both cases, they have to watch out for travel restrictions and of course match it with the actor's schedule. It could take some time.
