Yes they took money that didn’t belong to them, but they thought it was from the man who buried it in the forest. They didn’t know the money was GJ’s mother’s.
I think a good legal team could argue it was not stolen, but used by the Lee family.
Should they have done it differently…yes.
I think if they found out it was GJ’s mothers they would have returned it, maybe less the 800,000.
