he failed a grade and dropped out of hs, but bc of guxiao's encouragement he finished hs and even went to uni. But he later went to military. I thought I wouldn't hate another character as much as I hated lx's mom in GA, but lucheng's father is an asshole. His abusive father is an alcoholic that beats his wife and kid. Plus, he plays favours and only dotes on his youngest son but ignores his oldest son (ml). He doesn't even provide baisc needs to ml. Rmb the chp where he had debt and wanted to sell his son into marriage. Holy fuck, that was so ridiculous...I see it a lot with females but never with males. When I was reading the 2nd half, I was like eh why does ml have debt. It's later on that I find out why. one thing i like about ml is that he's not embarassed, he's very nochalant about what others think of him. I like that. He's dirt poor, and not academically educated, have no house or car. But he's respected and admired in his field, and he's good at what he does. He's a protector and even though ppl may think he mooches off of fl bc he lives in her house and drives her car, he doesn't. bc of his job he barely lives in her house. He's not sorry or humiliated for it. I admire that. Usually it's the other way around- CEO-cinderella dynamic.
Do you see the similarities and differences in their relationship as teens and adulthood? I mentioned before that back in uni they were basically in a long distance relationsihp, and though they reconciled, they are still in a long distance realtionship. But difference is that fl has matured and she has a sense of security. She understands ml's position now. She doesn't complain about not being able to see ml, like she did younger. I like that they try to make it work, such as ml driving to the village to get reception to call fl or fl flying to meet him when she's heavily pregnant. Also, Even though fl's dad disapproved him being together with fl,saying he's not good enough, but that never deterred him nor stopped him from continuing to see fl. He's not self- deprecating.
they did kiss as teens, they were each other's first of everything. In the novel, it tells of how he perceived her when he saw her come running towards him in that blue dress of hers (when they were teens). He mentioned how beautiful she was. I want to see that scene in the drama. Also, the part where he woke up early and waited hours to give a letter or something to her male classmate to pass it on to her. That showed he cared for her. And how he would bike an hr to her house just to meet her for a few minutes or an hour (idrm how long they could meet up), showed how much he wanted to spend time with her. I mean to and back is 2 hours of riding. He knew she has a crush on him, but he never admitted or acted on it until later on. Idk who liked who first, I would have to reread the novel to find out since I started in the middle bc my friend said the beginning was boring. So I read middle to end, then went back 1/3 in to the middle then back from beginning to 1/3.
That's why my friends and I were a bit confused bc this isn't really a big fl role since China will for sure focus more on the military side to promote China's army or how great and resilient they are bla bla. I've seen some of jbr's recent photoshoots and he has pretty good body proportion so I think he will look pretty cool as a military man. Also, I think this will be a serious role for him since lucheng isn't the type to joke, he's a man of few words and he doesn't lie or anything. It's definitely opposite of his role in psychiatrist.
Hi girl! I didn't see your notifications on my phone, but I see them on my laptop. Hence why I didn't reply haha. Not annoying at all, I enjoy talking about the novel and 7 with you. To answer your question about why 7 would choose this drama, I was a bit perplexed too bc in most of her dramas, it's like 3 kiss scenes in the whole drama, while in Home it's almost like 3 kiss scenes in each chp (once they reconcile that is). So I am very excited about the kissing scenes. In my opinion, I think she choose this project bc of the author, who is Mo Bao Fei Bao, a very popular and successful author. ggs, fae/oao were her projects she was involved in and her novels. So when I knew she was the author and would personally be the script writer, I was pretty confident about the script. Like at least it won't change too much form the novel hopefully. They may limit the sex scenes, but I hope they don't change the kissing scenes, especially the engagement ring kiss. That will be a very interesting scene and I want to see the bts of it. The director also directed Crush and Peach Blossom!!! omg peach blossom hahaha that's news to me since I didn't really search her up, so now i'm even more excited for the results. I think 7 wanted to challenge herself and get out of her comfort zone, since this is a pure romance drama. It's not a romcom, but a more melodrama (at least in the earlier parts), it's mostly sweet in the end, and it definitely talks about a person's growth. It's different from her previous romcom, There's no silly or embarrassing scenes for comedic purposes. Also I think she agreed bc she knows jbr, they have filmed a drama together so at least they aren't strangers.
I just realized/rmbed something. There was a rumor a long while back, even before flight started filming. It was rumored that Day and Night s2 would be filmed and it would be about lawyers, s1 was about detectives. It was also rumored that ml would be wk and 7 would be part of the cast. But that rumor fell through bc something about director coming out to say that the script hasn't been written and there's no go ahead from the executives to film s2. So that rumor just disappeared. But now, after I read the post Jen sent me, where the director directed Day and Night, I think this is the s2 drama that it used to be a rumor. I rmb the name of s2 had "water" in it. Aaah, nvm , it's not the same director but same producing company.
you can definitely read the novel! there's eng translation of it and it's short. Just google Road to Home eng translation. It's more of a male lead dominant role. Fl is successful in her career but it's soldemn mentioned of it. It's briefly mentioned that she does investments so she gets money from there. She has her own two story home and car, while ml doesn't really have any. She's successful in her career but also still very demure and feminine in her romance with licheng. She listens to ml a lot, but ml dotes on her. There's nothing much to it, it's all about romance. They met when she moved to a new city, she's in middle school while he's in hs. They got together then and then broke up in uni bc of some reasons. He was in military by then and she was in uni, so it's long distance relationship. She couldn't handle it as well as something that happened in her family. So she broke up with him. They stayed single ever since and they met up almost a decade later adn reconciled. The big thing is that the difficulties of the relationship is still the same from their youth. ml is still always away from home, and his gf/wife, and in a way it's still sometimes a long distance relationship. But the difference is that they've matured, fl is more understanding and she is able to cope with ml being away for so long. When I say long, I mean like 3-4 months at a time. They still retained the purness of their love since young, but also matured. We can see the comparison of their relationship between younger selves and older selves.
I have a few fave scenes in the novel. I love that he always cooks for her. Even after a tiring day of work, the first thing he does is cook for her when he comes home. There's one scene where he was chopping and she hugged him from behind and surprised him so he lost the grip of the knife handle, but he caught it (bc he's a trained soldier hehe). fl was impressed and asked him to teach her how to do it. He wouldn't teach her. In his pov he thinks that it's something his pure girl should never hav to learn or touch bc to learn how to catch a knife signifies the hardships and the grunts/dirtiness. Since he only knew this trick of catching the knife from military training, and the training is brutal hardwork. He doesn't want his gril to know these things, he wants her to just be a princess. I think in a drama, it's hard to depict this since we can't understand his inner dialogue. Another scene I liked was him washing her feet when her feet was swollen hehe. There's these little tings he does for her to show his love. He's a man of few words. He basically pampers her whenever he can, doing small things. That's why I'm excited for this drama adaption bc I enjoyed the romance in the novel. I just hope they don't change it too much bc I have high expectations. I really hope they don't change the major significant events of the novel just bc of societal morals and censorship in China. I will be so mad if they do. I don't even care about the sec that they will censortize, I just want them to keep the kissing scenes.
That's the thing, my friend and I aren't thrilled with the pairing, but we like the synopsis so far. Which would you choose? Xianxa/costume or this law drama?
Jennifer Vera on yt posted the english translated synospsis of the Law drama with lixian. The plot is much more interrsting than i thought. It involves kidnapping and danger. Which could be thrilling. So perhaps taking this would be a good change of her image. It's definitely something different almost like crime and thriller maybe which she's never taken. But i still want a xianxa...now im in a delimma as to which she should take bc i think this Law drama isba good opportunity
I think it's popularity and influentiality. Like in commercials or perhaps just what they wear day to day...does it create an influx in demand of the brand they carry or are sponsored. And the rating and viewership on tvs and vs. Thats what i think
I didn't particularly like Luo's acting in "love is sweet". I thought his comedic side was very forced and unnatural, as well the romance part was very cringey and greasy. That drama made me question his acting ability. However, I did enjoy him more in period dramas and the more angsty genre. His voice is good when spoken in a pained grief driven whisphered tone of way. I enjoyed him in AOL and in And the Winner is Love (though didn't finish bc the plot wasn't great). I'm sure he'll do great in the new period drama with bailu. He's far to thin to the point he looks anorexic. I don't think it'll go well with 7's more chubby face. As for XZ, I'm not going to talk about his acting ability incase His fans happen to chance upon this comment and start a war. Acting wise, his popularity would overshadow 7's. I don't want another fan war happening since we all know 7's previous costars' fans tend to star a war for no apparent reason. Like every male costar, which baffles me, and I don't think we can handle xz's fans. So I rather he be off limits.
momo and flight are already career oriented. I want a new genre. maybe if she took a couple more new fantasy/xianxa/period dramas, then a law drama would be good. I haven't much watch cdrama law, except the tvb ones as a kid, so idk if china does law dramas. Actually legally lawful is a law drama, though it's more like youth also. There's more romance involved and I found it boring. If China can make law dramas like Suits then that would be interesting to watch. But China has so many restricitons and censorship that it's just boring.
I don't like lixian, bc I don't really enjoy his acting, nor his face. He's acting is too stoic for me, like in ggs, it's like he has botox and his cheeks are always puffy. He's not very expressive in his acting. I prefer Zhu yilong, The actors that I don't want her to collab are hu yitian, dylan wang, lixian, xz, luo yunxi (I used to want but not anymore). I'll prob offend a lot of people if they read this post haha.
Have you of the new mellon that 7 and lixian collab in a lawyer drama. Lx plays judge and 7 plays lawyer. Filming starts in july. I hope it's fake. I dont want the collab nor do i want this script. She doesnt need another career oriented drama
i don't think romance plays too huge of a part in momo bc when I read the ending of the novel, they get back together near the end. They mostly partnered to take down the bad guy. Yes, I also hope momo doesn't air along side tough competition. I heard ym/xk's drama will air in april, yy's drama is already airing, bw s2 is currently airing, and there's also yz/chengyi's fantasy drama and zly's drama. So competition is high. So I'm trying to be mello and not care too much about ratings and the competition and just be grateful teh drama is airing and just enjoy it. But, I know in reality I'll be checking th ratings and viewerships haha, can't help it.
I saw i think still a rumor the actress link to this one is Song Zu Er. They said Fans want Tan Song Yun but she…
I just hope her next project is a period/fantasy/xianxa drama. 3 modern dramas already. Ofc, any projects she picks up I'll support but I selfishly want a fantasy.
i think most actresses start out with romcom/sha bai tian before they can really switch roles or finally get better resources. 7 played cinderella/sha bai tian in her younger days, but luckily and very smart she changed images since she can't play these cute naive girls forever. If she's lucky she can change image successfully with flight.
He's still young, he's doing not bad, plus he is getting recognition for his acting. 7 didn't get to her popularity and acknowledgement and recognition until after UTP, and that's when shes 29.
Last time it was in Sept-Oct around that time. So it should also be around that time this year too. People are saying the contenders are really just 7 and yz. But I feel like mango is using 7 to make noise and attention as fans of 7 and yz will fight. My friend was suspicious that mango purposely aired TOOL this year bc of Golden eagle goddess. So they perhaps already planned for yz to win, so 7, again, was used as a tool.
Oh, so the subs are recent, but the video is old. Wish they would upload a new trailer. My friend was complaining how Youku is playing favours. They would upload trailers of Yz or Reba's dramas that are a year ahead of airing, but non of 7's.
sha bai tian refers, generally to females, that are cute, naive, and foolish. They may say or act in such a way that you either decipher them as adorable or stupid. It's an over used type of genre for females that most (at least in the mainland Chinese public) have out grown it and prefer the more intelligent logical type of fl.
